@@Psyshimmer The rules are the same whether tall or short. The problem with such tall players, or short players, is head contact is likely to be more frequent. But head contact itself is not actually illegal. Targeting (picking) the head is illegal. When hitting into the body head contact is considered incidental to delivering a full body check. The head can even be the principal point of contact and still be legal. There's no rule that tall players cannot deliver body checks on shorter players, the rules apply exactly same.

Homer. Take off the blue-tinted glasses.
I grew up watching hockey in the late 80s and through the 90s, and it just boggles my mind how the current era of players have developed no instincts for taking care of themselves on the ice. @@lucianoserafino5872 That's just wrong. There is no rule about "first point of contact." If a player is centering his hit on a player's body, then by rule it's a body check. It doens't matter if the head if first, second, third point of contact. That would be an impossible standard. Rempe timed his hit and at that speed has no clue what position TVR will be in when he turns around. Unfortunately for him he turned around bent over and took some of the blow to his head. Tough luck, gotta look up dude. Esp when your whole bench is screaming at you.
@@colatrl.damg3167um… you’re incorrect. You might want to follow your own advice and “go look it up”. The player delivering a check is responsible for avoiding his opponent’s head. A legal hit can not have the opponent’s head as a main point of contact. REMPE! Totally clean hit. Just a really hard one so the refs felt they had to call the big man. VR literally just played the puck. And it's playofffs. Was he not gonna hit him? Lol. Any other player wouldn't even have been considered for a penalty there. It wasn't late at all. Refs are totally biased against Rempe. They need to stop calling penalties based on how hard the hit was or if the recipient got right back up or was shaken up. It seems like if the player gets rocked they're calling a penalty. If it's a crowd pleaser the refs are calling it. On one of his hits the ref already had his hand up before Rempe even made contact. It's totally biased. Even some nhl announcers and analysts said the refs use a diff rule book for Rempe cuz of his size. If the player goes down they call a penalty. If he stays on his feet they don't. That's some bs. It's the capitals players faults for not warning VR that a mack truck was speeding towards him. They 100% have to tell their dman that a guy is bearing down in him in that situation, especially the goalie. He def saw it coming from the blue line. Rempe did nothing wrong. Just tracked his target and followed the hit through the body. Hard. Perfect. Every fan in the league would love to have him and you know all know it. Nah that can’t be charging he started gliding at like the dot which is plenty of time to be gliding
That's not charging, his feet were mostly on the ground throughout the entire sequence. Charging has to have a distinct jumping motion which is absent here. With majority of hits you can't help but get some form of air time due to the momentum change or other factors such as height difference.

Clean hit, never watch your pass!
Keep your head up! Was less than a second after he got rid of the puck. That’s playoff hockey!
This is the problem with the brutality of NHL is that was not crosschecking it was elbowing to the head and boarding the boarding penalty has been removed extremely dangerous.
🐱
What are you talking about? He was called for interference...for hitting a player who no longer had the puck. You might want to check out the NHL's Video Rulebook channel.
Tricep to the nose is not an elbow to the face. Head up, bud!
Once the league went to auto-icing, clubs don't practice icing touch-up drills enough. Dude had zero awareness and didn't even brace. That was absolutely not a penalty.
Boucher seems to think its not a penalty
I don’t think that’s interference. Charging or boarding maybe. You can clearly see his feet off the ice in the slow motion replays as well as the four or five strides he took from the blue line to gain speed for the hit.
Skates were clearly on the ice during impact. Only left the ice on the follow through
@@Rpont63 If you read rule 42.1, there is no requirement for skates to leave the ice prior to impact for a charging penalty. When you see skates leave the ice from a jumping motion, it’s usually evidence that the player jumped into the hit. So whether skates leave the ice before or after impact is irrelevant. Besides, the four or fives strides he took to get to speed was sufficient enough for charging.
@@fredrickolsen838 uh...the 4 or 5 strides from the blueline is actually called "forechecking".
@@andrewmaher9439 I guess there’s no definition of charging that will satisfy you. When I played Junior A I would build up speed all the time then hit someone and would more often than not get a penalty for charging.
@@fredrickolsen838 You're the one that stated his skates clearly left the ice. Maybe reread your own comment
He 100 percent had elbow to head contact. But it is hard physically for Rempe to not have head contact here with his size advantage. I believe a suspension will be incoming.
Lol I’m surprised that guy got up so quick. He must of been dazed
Big and uncoordinated
Sent into orbit 😂
I love this kid . Old school hockey .
Have you noticed that Rempe is going all the games making this type of dirty hits but when he is invited to fight he now declines and avoid the fight.
Beautiful clean hit! Shame it was a penalty
good hit!
he left his feet again he needs to learn fast otherwise he’s gonna need some summer job to pay off fines to NHL 😂😂😂😂
Not sure you understand hockey but why would a 7’ tall skater need to leave his feet? Aside from that, he does not leave his feet. He is on the ice during the initiated contact laying a body check.
That also looked like a charging also on top of interference easy to make big hits like this when your 7FT breaking multiple rules 😂
100% clean hit
What a hit 😂😂😂
The hit wasn’t bad the problem was it was on the late side like two and a half strides after passing the puck.
No it wasn't, the problem is this soft ass generation not learning to protect themselves in a physical game. I'm surprised he didn't turn into the boards like so many others in today's game. PATHETIC
Nice imagination you have there considering he stopped talking strides at the dots and just cruised the rest of the way. Unless you're one of those silly people that watch the play in super slow motion and counts in real time...lol. There was about 0.3 seconds from when he dished the puck and contact. Try watching in real time if you want to count.
Plus he left his feet plus it was an elbow to the head
Beautiful hit wtf is the crying for
Late, blindside, in the head, into the boards, ouch, doesn’t get much worse.
WRONG.. WRONG... and WRONG...
