F1RE, stands for Female First Racing Enduro team.
When Shelly's daughter expressed a desire to participate in racing, she tirelessly sought out an event where her daughter could compete. Despite encountering resistance and being told that "girls don't race enduro," and with no existing category for girls, Shelly took matters into her own hands.
Determined to pave the way for change, she established the inaugural girls' enduro category, giving rise to the formation of the F1re team.

Great interview and enthusiasm for and by women in the sport of MTB! I learned of the WMTBN from this. I’ve followed F1RE from the inception and am thrilled how the girls & Shelly and the families have manifested their vision for females to participate. I was inspired by Shelly sharing her story about Julia’s experience to try some Enduros so race directors would see more women showing up! You can imagine how learning at the end of 2023 the news that the above 19 yr group was now being included peaked my interest! Coming at you F1RE🚵🏻‍♀️👋🏻(says a rider who will expand the age range 😆)❣️

My 10 year old son and I rode 2 M.A.S.S. races incuding the season finale at Glen Park. This was our first year racing bikes. The F1re team looks amazing with great representation. I am upset that Shelly's first experience was challenging and about the interactions with the other race series in our area. Great discussion over a great team and effort. Next year I'll have to meet Shelly and congratulate her on such a great team she initiated.
