    The 2018 King Salman FIDE World Rapid Championship is a 15-round Swiss open taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia from 26-28 December. The prize fund is $350,000, with $60,000 for 1st place. The time control is 15 minutes per player for all moves, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If there is a tie for 1st place, the top two players will compete in a play-off match consisting of two 3+2 blitz games.
    If the score is still level, the players play a sudden death or Armageddon game. The player who wins the drawing of lots may choose the color. The player with the white pieces gets 5 minutes to Black's 4 (with a 2-second increment after move 60), but a draw counts as a win for Black. Official website: wrbc2018.com/en

    On 6:29 I think Magnus would've been better if he went for a Queen exchange with Qxe5. Black would be happy to exchange, since it was probably his plan all along. So Qxe5, Bxe5, followed by d6, winning the white Knight on c7.
    Yet, although clear favorite, black would have had 3 pawn islands and 6 pawns, as opposed to white's 7 pawns and 2 pawn islands. Even if black also has the bishop pair, with good and fast defensive play, Maguns maybe could've gotten more from this game, perhaps a draw, or even a win, as Vokhidov was low on time. Being pressed by time, combined with fast play by Magnus, black could've blundered or could simply fail to find a winning combination.
    Keeping the black queen on the board, while giving up the white queen was not a good choice, in my opinion. But then again, Magnus is the world champion and I am not even ranked. His motives are his own. One bad game doesn't erase everything he achieved. He is one of the best to ever play this game.

      Exactly! Why didn't he take the pawn and give his queen instead of his Knight? But I think, he already realised he was going down so he didn't want to fall gracefully, he wanted a bullet right inside his skull.

      Why no d6-e5 Queen trade like said but do it before moving the knight I'd white takes knight first it's mate in the corner with whites queen 😂 and the trade down for white actually puts white on top 2 with white 2rook and 1bishop equal pawns to blacks 2bishops and 1rook.

      @@daaxab Magus could have won and I pointed how by doing d4-e5 before c7-b5. So d4-e5 , f5-e5, c3-e5, b8-b7, e5-b7 now white has two rooks and a Bishop and black has two bishops and one rook pawns even. Cause if Magus does D4-E5 and black takes knight instead and doesn't trade right there queen's e5- h8 is checkmate

      The dog is dreaming. Just like some humans do, some dogs (nearly all mammals display this behaviour) sleepwalk at times. His dog is simply dreaming while the body's system to shut down muscle movement is not functioning properly for whatever reason. The dog is probably dreaming about being on a walk or swimming etc, and either the brain didn't tell the muscles to go sleep, or the chemicals meant to make the muscles fall asleep had a dip, causing the body to forget it's supposed to not move and believing it's outside and awake.

      OK, I put it on an analysis board and it actually works okish. They still win a bishop or a knight by moving pawn to d6 at the end but isn't that better than being down a queen for a rook?

    • @7opher619
      @7opher619 3 роки тому +2

      When playing from a material deficiency the last thing you want to do is make plays that lead to trades. So you wouldn't want to take the pawn which mostly forces trades that leave you also short a full piece. the way Carlsen played it left him fighting from a pov of power disparity with equal pieces instead of playing a piece down.

      How is this winning for black?
      After D3, you can simply capture with your bishop.
      And after recapture by black, white can play Nb5, forking the bishop and the A7 pawn.
      So eventually, it is 3 pawns for a bishop - and also you've messed up blacks pawn structure even more..
