After years of guessing why Alexander's face turned grim and wondering why Jean-Pierre was silenced by the host, it's finally here: the long overdue translation of Army of Lovers' probably most talked about interview. Translated by Djinn and David Haglund.

I am a fan of Army of Lovers, but only with La Camilla. Her beauty and deep voice were why I became interested in them back when I was a teenager.
It was like Van Halen without Lee Roth... just not the same. If she didn't get involved with the king... i predict she not fall into depression, drugs/alcohol abuse and stripping for attention.
I agee , Army of Lovers with her was so great and the video remakes without her , with her replacement , just don't vibe the same. It is a shame that things went sour and that she was replaced in the first place. And the immature and horrible things said! While I agree she could have and should've asked permission to show and all , they could of acted their ages and been more mature about it. Not treat the interviewer and Camilla so poorly , especially knowing it would be shown on tv.
Army Of Lovers wouldn't even exist without La Camilla. She was the true matriarch of the band. They did her dirty like that. But on the other hand, Michaela somehow saved this band with some potential and it became worse when she left and Dominika brought it downhill from there.
That’s heartbreaking to watch La Camila had extraordinary class to stand there and take that she will forever be the reason I loved Army of lovers
It's the biggest tragedy of Army Of Lovers that Alexander is a diva and could never handle La Camilla.
To us Camila Henemark will ALWAYS be "La Camila". It's a shame they ended up arguing like that, they're all three gifted artists and all three brought something unique to the Army of Lovers that made it special as a whole.. They all had their part to play. So respect one another guys, you're all well liked!
Was a bit curious about this so I did some research. La Camilla was a member of the group from 1987 to 1991 which was arguably the group's peak success period (at least internationally) and she's the singer most associated with the band Army of Lovers. The blonde is her replacement Michaela De La Cour who took over vocal duties. This interview, as stated in the title, is from 1991 so this means it was very near La Camilla's firing of the group making indeed for a very awkward situation. HOWEVER Michaela De La Cour only lasted with the group from 1991 to 1995 after which La Camilla came back and stayed with the group from 1995 to 2001 (she was fired again in 2001) and then again from 2012 to 2013. There's a third singer, Dominika Peczynski, who apparently must have been a shadow singer for the group since her time as a member overlaps with the others (from 1992 to 2009 and from 2013 to present).
why did they fired Camilla?
From what little I know , they allegedly started bullying her about her weight and telling her she can't sing. Basically being immature and shallow , probably actually a bit jealous as well since people recognize her best but if so , it is really silly since they were the ones that decided to have her focused on a lot in the videos in the first place. I could be wrong about the jealous part but I wouldn't put it past them seeing how childish they behaved in this interview.

@@norell791 It is obvious La Camilla is vocally dubbed in the main singing parts of the songs. Her own voice was used only in recited or semi-sung parts actually. You can tell by her solo career.
Poor Michaela, she is out of their conflict and doesn't know what the fuck she is doing there.
She may have been putting on a smile but it was obvious Camilla was in a lot of pain through this. I don't know, maybe she made mistakes that hurt the band, but don't kick somebody while they're down and not even fighting back! Come on!
So awkward and unnecessary such exposure... It gets even worse when you find out they took her back to the band for a contest, then blamed her for losing it, being that mean one more time.
I have to admit, I was never TOO invested in Army Of Lovers. I only have their first album which La Camilla was on. I mainly liked their music because of her and, of course, the song that I was drawn by was "Viva La Vogue" --- which I first heard on "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead". lol But either way, the whole interview seemed awkward and a little bit filled with drama from the 2 guys. But I'm glad I stumbled upon this video. Was an interesting look into what was going on with them.

They behave like they are all stoned, on different drugs no less! Fortunately, the whole thing seems very staged. If not, it really was a shame for the journalist to act like a tactless troll and for Alexander to be so mean. But La Camilla was surprisingly dignified - I don't know whether it's her true personality or she was just pretending in order to made her opponents look worse, but whatever it was, it worked.

I won't pretend to understand what happened to La Camilla and the rest of the band but the fact remains that the producers of this show invited Army of Lovers to be interviewed and then they surprised them with Camilla's presence.
This is a major breach of journalistic ethics and an attempt to drum up ratings through sensationalist television; Alexander and Jean-Pierre were right to be annoyed being the victims of ambush journalism. Camilla should have had more sense and declined to appear; nothing good would have come from it (especially if its true she was fired from the band).
That is still no excuse to take it out on La Camilla, the guys could have just said that the interview is over, but there they were, bitching around like high school imbeciles.

I read a Haaretz article/interview with Jean-Pierre from 2018 (I think); it was pretty interesting. As much as he loved his time in the band, he got burned out on constantly being recognized in Sweden, even in his later years. He was 56 at the time of publication. By then he had moved to Israel, where he could be 'just anybody' to most passerby, and he works as a makeup artist and hairstylist. He was inadvertently 'outed' as gay to his parents by a platonic female friend when he was 16, and that created a 15-year rift between him and his somewhat conservative Jewish father. Anyway he's quite happy in Israel; he claimed to feel more of a sense of 'family' among his friends and neighbors.

What a mess. This is the worst kind of amateurish nonsense -- from both the remaining members of Army of Lovers and the so-called journalist, who tried to interview them and make a "scoop" by introducing La Camilla in the nonsense. Embarrassing for all.

If this isn't a flamboyant set up, then the person I feel sympathy for is Michaela, she can't really say anything, but she looks super awkward, even if she wanted to support Camille she can't because of the guys and being in the band.
I think there's a mixed conflict there, they liked the publicity they get with having her in the band but hate the attention she gets for her looks. I know what gay and closet gay men can be like, I've experienced very similar things from several gay and closet gay male artists who have been jealous of my art and attention I get, but they capitalise on it to get attention for their art movements etc.
Camille is super chill here, she comes off best, because she didn't retaliate, but their comments were viperous.

I think it's interesting that at 2:36 Alexander steps back and moves Michaela over so he can move around to either place himself between her and La Camilla or to subtlety show La Camilla "She's with us now and you're not".

What kind of garbage journalist would do that to people who were obviously trying their best not to say anything trashy about one another? Yes. La Camilla was my favorite in the band. She had style, presence and vocal quality that Army of Lovers needed and wanted. All of them tried very hard to get that journalist to let this die out. How entirely unfair. Of course, I really don't think it was classy to have shown up on Camilla's part, but then again they could have bated her. Bad form.

This story is as old as the world. Bard wanted to be a famous person. He did not succeed in becoming famous alone. Bard got into women's clothes and sang in a female voice. But no one needed that either. It was then that he attracted bright and interesting guys, first Jean-Pierre, and then Camilla. "The Barbie project" became more attractive, although Bard remained in the center. The next thing was that Bard was tired of the female image. However, the face of the first song of new AOL group was Bard. But the group failed again. The other divas of Army had a great look, but they didn't have the acting skills of La Camilla. Jean-Pierre is a great actor. As a result, both of them, in visual terms, made this Army. Bard became a famous person, among other things, because of the presence of La Camilla and Jean-Pierre in the group. The reason for the breakup both in 1991 and in 2013 was mutual resentment and constant attempts by the band members to pull the blanket over themselves. "Big Battle of Egos." It's all about them. They are "good" all three. But they have achieved international success.

the tone of their language sounds quite passive that it doesn't sound at all like they are bickering with each other. Most of the dialogue sounds like they are just explaining something to each other and also teasing each other. In an English conversation if people were angry with each other, the tone of the conversation would sound aggressive and they would be yelling at each other by now. Do arguments in Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch and German also sound like this?
It’s more to do with who these individuals are and Swedish culture than the language.
They’re being passive aggressive bitchy bullies here, and they’re quite good at it. It’s about diminishing the other person by showing that you don’t care about them and they know it.
Swedish culture is pretty indirect in addition, sort of similar to Japanese culture in that respect (though very different in others).
They changed a lot in 3 years from their 1988 video when the night is cold.

The guys from the band understood this after many years, but it was already too late. Over the years, they (together with La Camilla) could be very successful, be great like Madonna and Michael Jackson, but each of them was convinced of their size. The greatness was the meeting of three great personalities: AOL. Alexander Bard has been in showbiz all the time and La Camilla recently made her return back in the spotlight so I guess their gonna meet somewhere along the road.
La Camilla joined the band back in 1996, she was member of the band in their comeback in 2001, so I think the were friends again. But they kicked her out again in 2013 after the Melodifestival, so they aren't friends anymore again (or it was only PR).

Basically, the old blonde lady(Journalist) are interviewing them about La Camilla leaving the group and how they felt about it, which she shouldn't have brought up. So La Camilla came out and Jean-Pierre and Bard were rude to her. The Journalists purpose was to stir up conflict and make them fight on TV which was dirty.

F-ing idiot.... he should take a look at himself in the mirror. And Stina Dabrowski is a well known journalist, and imo never was a gossip-journalist, but she never feared bringing up "uncomfortable" topics or issues . It's not staged, unfortunately. Their public feud kept going on for years. They did even worse things like stabbing a sex doll that was supposed to look like La Camilla with a knife on stage. 03:02 is my favorite point in the video because La Camilla suddenly sounds like she's scat singing, like in that one Scatman John song "I'm A Scatman". To someone who doesn't speak a different Germanic language, that's what it sounded like to my ears.
It's just because Swedish is a melodious language, and the sentence begins with "ska?" which means "shall?", that it could sound like the beginning of a "scat"-line.

Yeah, the journalist is a famous Swedish journalist called Stina Dabrowski I think. She's always like this. Totally dead eyes and has the expressivity and emotion just above a corpse. No matter who she talks to she has no sympathy for them, and it's always about the story and getting something juicy.
