    That's a very good question. There is a dash kit available and it is the Metra 99-9008, which is available on our site. It might of not been available at the time of this install.

  • @minjincheyo
    @minjincheyo 7 років тому +5

    where do you get the battery cable thru the fire wall?

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @vespaT27 That particular vehicle doesn't require a dash kit. The the factory radio is a standard single din size, so when you install an aftermarket radio you'll just use the volkswagen removal keys to remove the factory radio and use a mounting cage that's supplied with aftermarket radios to mount the radio into the factory area. No dash kit is required for your vehicle.

    @DerbiSmdu1480 The remote wire will go from the radio to the remote input on the amplifier. This wire allows the amplifier to be turned on when your vehicle does.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @javiderek31 No this is not normal, the problem here is that the remote wire from the amp is more than likely connect to an accessory power wire. So the amp turns on and off with the car and not the radio. To fix this problem make sure that your remote turn-on wire is connected directly to the remote output of the radio, this will cause the amplifier to turn on and off along with the radio.

    The Hifonics Brutus amplifiers are great because they are both affordable and efficient. We recommend these amps for people who are looking for a lot of power and who have the electrical system to support it. If they say they put out 2000 watts, they will put out very close, if not 2000 watts. If you check out our reviews on each of them you will see how much people love them. Hope this helps!

    Hifonics is a reliable brand and have very decent amplifiers. They are most definetly not a cheapo brand.

    That is just the MAX rating of the speakers. It is what they can handle. You don't want to run them at that output because you can blow them. You want to match the RMS rating of both the amp and speakers. That is your best solution.

    @SoToxsiK That's fine, you're not significantly under powering them at all. You can throw some extra power to those comps though, they can handle an extra 100 watts each if you really want.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @SoToxsiK It looks like for the most part we used the AK04 for power/ground and RCA connections. The speaker wire used is Kicker speaker wire. I believe we used the 09XW1220 for speaker wire. It's 12 gauge Kicker speaker wire to get some better signal from the amp.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @Amalemodel Its the blue and white wire on the harness that came with the radio and the solid blue wire coming from the car harness. Make sure you don't confuse the remote turn on wire with the power antenna wire.

    Soldering is always the most secure way to make a connection. However, crimp connectors are good as well. Just make sure you properly crimp both sides of the crimp connectors and you will be fine.

    @joshdesjardins6 A single channel amplifier would be the same thing as a Monoblock amplifier. Usually, most monoblock amplifiers are made with Class D Circuitry, so in this particular case this amplifier is a Class D Monoblock Amplifier, which you can also call a single channel amplifier if you want to.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @SoToxsiK Break-in time usually takes about 24 hours of playing time for your subwoofer. During this break-in period keep your amplifiers settings around half-way of where you want them at the end of the break-in period. For example, instead of turning your gain settings on the amplifier to half way, turn it to about half of that. This will help keep your subwoofer distortion free, or keep them from heating up too much as well. Good luck with that setup!

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  11 років тому

    The enclosure is what will make a subwoofer sound it's best. You have to double RMS power just to get a little more volume out of your subs. The enclosure is important. Subwoofers can handle a wide range of RMS power, staying at the recommended is not required. Also, customer budget is a big factor in all of this. Usually, over powering by a little bit is a good idea.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @bsiffy When using a crimp cap or butt connector all you need to do is connect the copper from the wire to the metal inside of the connector. This will conduct the other end of copper. The ends of copper don't necessarily need to be inserted until they touch each other, although you will want to insert them as securely as possible so the install will last.

    If anyone's wondering what the last song is, it is Pursuit of hapiness by Kid Cudi BUT.... its dubstep...... for those on Lime or Frostwire: Pursuit of Happiness (Steve Aoki Mix - The Killabits Dubstep Re-work).

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @JERMX101 The best way to do this is using L-brackets, this will allow you to mount the enclosure to the floor. You might want to use one for every corner just to make sure its securely mounted.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @EASYxxZ It's always good to have an aftermarket stereo since it makes hooking up the amplifier easier. If you don't want to get a stereo you could always get a Line Output Converter to convert your speaker wire into RCA outputs to run to your amplifier.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @MilRom9 You can also pickup the hardware from us as well. The Scosche TK12V is a great entry-level kit with wire crimpers, some butt-connectors, a multi-meter, and a pry-tool. Just search for TK12 or TK12V on the green search bar on our main website and you will be able to find these tools. If you need just connectors, we sell them in packs of 100, so we have plenty of different ways to stock up your connectors.

  • @SonicElectronix

    Yes the power wire was ran through the firewall on the drivers side. There was an existing wire grommet that it was run through.

    @eagle0924 You might want to consider the box you are using. If it is a ported or vented box, it would be a good idea to switch it out for a sealed box. This will cause your bass output to be more accurate and precise. Make sure that the internal volume is between .5 and 1.0 cubic feet.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  12 років тому

    You would have to call a local installer to get price quotes for installation. As far as the system goes, you can call our customer service line a call and they can help you pick out a system.

    @hendlank A perfect amplifier would be the Alpine MRP-M2000. You must make sure that it is connect in a Series configutation for a final impedence of 4 ohms and 1500 Watts.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @jacedison In general, it's perfectly fine for a car audio system to be run from 4 ohms to 2 ohms, as long as you hook them up correctly. With your particular setup, you may be under-powering the subwoofers, even at 2 ohms. Check to see how much RMS power your subwoofers require (not peak or max) and see how close that matches up to your amplifiers power output at 2 ohms.
    If your subwoofers are dual voice coils (two +/- terminals) you can only wire to 1 or 4 ohms on your amplifier.

  • @SonicElectronix

    @jacedison We would recommend only using this boss amplifier for one of these subwoofers not for two. You are going to need a more powerful amp to run two of them.

    @ChevyGangman323 You will need to use the remote wire coming from your head-unit, and rout it to both of your amplifiers as well as your Epicenter's remote input terminals. The remote wire will trigger all of your devices to turn on whenever your head-unit is powered up.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  13 років тому

    @TheToTooTwo Not in this particular installation. A Big 3 Upgrade works wonders for system that require a little more power. This system only uses a total of 300W RMS. Although a Big 3 Upgrade will always help, you don't really need to do one until you're getting towards 900-1000W RMS or more. Than you'll definitely want to do a Big 3 Upgrade.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  12 років тому

    Two 12's would be just fine for your car. The 15's are also good for a budget system, but are a little over-kill for your vehicle.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  12 років тому

    It does as long as it has RCA outputs to run to the amp.

  • @SonicElectronix
    @SonicElectronix  11 років тому

    Vic, you don't want to do that. You need to make sure you use a terminal for it so your connection is secure. The way your friend did it could cause problems if it comes lose or if anything hits it. It is dangerous.

    @vespaT27 You'll need to purchase separate wiring for the MTX Magnum package. For the radio removal, you'll also need to purchase VW Radio Removal Keys separately. You will need an antenna adapter for that vehicle if you would like to retain your AM/FM transmissions. The Metra 40-VW10 is a great option to use in this particular case. The model number for the radio removal keys is the Metra 86-9001.

    @Djordjeeee451 It is possible. Depending on the stereo you choose. Some car stereos might have a lower signal-to-noise ratio, or a less than quality digital-to-analog converter. These are huge when it comes to sound quality. Check out some stereos by Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC's new stereos, and you'll fine happy with the sound quality you get.

    @jacedison The peak power is a completely useless number. You want to only pay attention to the RMS ratings. However, being that this is a boss amplifier, even their RMS power ratings are going to be exaggerated because this is not a CEA compliant amplifier. This amplifier will probably not be powerful enough.
