These were some really good ideas, I had never thought of. Another idea that people do on the beach, is to hide it inside a diaper that looks used with the velcro wrapped around a "full" diaper. No thief is going to scavenge a "dirty" diaper...
Originally, I was for the idea of hiding it on the collar but I decided there were other less common locations. I say this for several reasons. First, I've personally come across quite a few so called "guard" dogs that looked the part of a guard dog but were actually quite the opposite. Another reason was I wanted locations that weren't circulating the internet and the dog collar was something found quite frequently on other sites. Good suggestion though.

I have one in a jar buried about 6 inches deep in the lawn.
