My youngest brother was the caretaker of our mother for 10 years. His observation was if you lose your hearing you will develop dementia. Our mother’s cause of death was vascular dementia.

Lost all hearing in one ear during surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. I'm only in my 30's. One of the reasons I pressed for a bone anchored hearing aid was because of this concern.. that the profound hearing loss would accelerate my cognitive decline as I continue to age. It's already been a struggle to process words in conversation. Even when I hear all the sound, some of the words get lost in the processing and it's like there are gaps in the sentences as I recall what was said.
Noisy environments are both exhausting and frustrating so I try to expose myself to them in small doses. I tend to isolate more, though not in silence. I usually have podcasts or worship music playing all day long.
I can't change the fact that I have this loss, but I do hope that the aid and some lifestyle changes (WFPB, active & focused reading, more sleep, daily exercise, etc.) will keep my brain healthier for longer.
Anyway, thanks for the plethora of the free information you provide through your podcast and videos. It's been a huge blessing to me! 🙏

What about ringing in the ear? There is a large flash add on line saying it causes brain damage?

      Learn to ignore advertisements.
I have seen so much crap, even to the point of using incorrect grammar.
There are legitimate studies on things to do to improve hearing but those ads are just there to make a buck.
Better nutrition and lifestyle can help every part of the body.
