FOR PEOPLE WONDERING WHY THEIR CALCULATOR SHOWS 1.75 AND NOT 6 WHEN HE DIVIDES 14/8... ANYTIME THERE IS A DECIMAL IN YOUR ANSWER YOU ALWAYS TAKE, ONLY, THAT DECIMAL NUMBER (0.75) AND THEN MULTIPLY IT BY (8). So 14/8 = 1.75 => 0.75*8 = [6] HE SHOULD HAVE EXPLAINED THAT BETTER. YOUR WELCOME :) ***Octal = DIVIDE integer part by 8. AND MULTIPLY fractional part by 8. *** It can get very annoying when something this easy takes more than 30secs time to figure out because the source you go to for information doesn't give you all the information. This happens all the time, usually starting with Trig or Pre-calc and up. So all you aspiring engineers get used to the never ending search to the never ending questions!
in the previous 2 lectures you have said that the number system whose base(r) is bigger will have less or the same number of digits(N). then how can you explain the case of (25.625) decimal as opposed to (31.5 ) octal?
the way its written on the grid confuses too much.. especially if i have to think about the numbers without writing it down spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out octal of 82 because i was putting the numbers in the wrong places
Good work.
