Behind the lyrics: The Devils My Muse is a classic song about a toxic relationship, I wrote this song after leaving one in particular. Looking back, I noticed how I would blindside myself to things that I felt weren't right, although I optionally chose to ignore them. The song depicts a man who has fallen in love with the devil him/her-self, he's completely infatuated with her even though she can be violent towards him and others often leaving him scared "Safe locked in her dungeon" this lyric is an entrapment, he'd rather be on her good-side because he knows what the bad side looks like. The song is a mix between a story and perspectives. The chorus is how the man feels. He can't get enough of . She is after all the most beautiful woman he's seen, and he himself let's a blurry vision be cast over her less fond attributes. Although I went down a religious route "The father" is actually his father, desperate to convince his son that the woman is no good for him and she in return brings down a "Storm" that divides the family. "Why is she the one that holds your heart so tight" this lyric is from a females perspective, a childhood sweetheart who doesn't understand why he would let himself be treated poorly. "The Storm" I use is to quickly sum up how she affects everything around him - family, friends, himself. he's following this storm due to his love for her. He's being naive and refusing to see how much damage she's actually doing. He thinks it's because she loves him back and is protecting him from people's opinions of their relationship. but in reality, we all know this is power play. She likes to have all of his attention and give nothing back. "The lion sheds his mane." I felt like Shakespeare writing this part. lions manes are like a kings crown, to shed one is completely letting your guard down, and no longer being of importance. This is how far he has gone. She has all the influence over him. the first verse I'd kind of like a meeting for the first time, "The Devil wears a dress, crimson silk bust at the chest." This is obviously to describe his instant attraction. "The serpent tells no tales, it's tounge flutters through poison nails." she's quite charismatic. She knows all the right words. "A dog must obey or be swatted with the cane." This is her first step of dominance over him. Her intentions instantly unfold because she knows he's a "nice guy" I could go on. but this is enough for now. If you want me to do more BTL, let me know :) Sorry if this seems scrambled i write songs not essays lol
