U are lucky pple in 2023...u are getting to hear such conversations happening about ur job and salary talks, that too from the public...openly...In our time no such discussions even used to happen....all we had to find out by ourselves , we didn't even know there was something called entry level salary in those days.....keep it up for bringing in such talks about the jobs and salaries in India.

90% of the management consultante are hired from IIMs and Top B schoold rest 10% are lucky buddies like these which are from SRCC, Stephens, Hansraj, IITs, CAs, CFAs with a lot of internship experience in big companies.
People always ignore SSCBS which is rank 1 undergrad B school in India. Bain and company literally takes around 40 students from there every year. Mc Kinsey takes few of them and dont know about BCG. Big 4 takes them as well.

Only after masters or work ex, you get an associat position but I knw many analysts freshers CA (even without ranks), many engineers (even other than IIT, BITs, NIT etc) and these all 20 LPA guys are analysts and not Associates.

Ask in hand salary.. Pakage is scam. One of my friend has 40LPA package but his in-hand salary is around 1.4 lakhs per month. By that measure their in-hand salary would be about 90K per month.

Tech role salary are usually very inflated. Commerce field salaries are not usually inflated because many dont provide stock options, etc. You can consider like 70-80% of CTC as base salary. So in hand will be like 1 to 1.3 LPM.

It's basically a chain reaction.. That's why MBA from a great college matters as that gets you campus placement into BCG, McKinsey etc.. Once you have that stamp it helps get the next big job & then the next etc.. On other hand it's very difficult for outsiders to get into McKinsey Bain etc. even experienced guys cause those firms only prefer people with experience in similar companies!!

MBA and then in 2nd year you choose your specialization subject management consulting. But a salary of 20 lakh p.a. is usually only available from tob b-schools like iim. Otherwise from an average college its 4-5 lakh pa only.

Literally many friends of mine who are CA's and MBA's (No work experience) work in consulting i asked them about this ,they said that if you have good technical knowledge & crack all the interviews then they will hire you and train you for the job role
From tier 1 MBA college you directly get a front office consultancy role and for other tier 2 or btech you will have back office or analyst role though they also earn big if in top 3
