- The Iron Throne Rescue Mission went great, I had a few rounds spare to explore even. I had sold Wyll's soul to Mizora to make this extra easy, but feel bad about it afterwards. Gameplay is at +50% speed, because I play pretty slow.

Considering 1 round is about 6 seconds in 5e, this is basically like Quicksilver in X-Men Apocalypse
Whenever I remember that fact there's a part of me that wants the ability to replay combat in "real-time" to see how fast all our characters are actually moving, especially with all the ludicrous ways you can stack additional actions and movement
@@ShermTank7272 monk stomper build goes brrr
One of my favorite quests in this game ngl. The time pressure and strategies you must come up to try and save the Gondians is stressing, but fun. I also love how the AI is cooperative (looking at you, Gondians in the Steel Foundry).
What I do here is prep a speed pot for everyone (huddling everyone in a circle and breaking the pot in the middle so everyone can get the boost). Then I go in and separate everyone according to their role. The one with Sanctuary usually goes to Ravengard, with one other accompanying them, and the one with the most damage output goes to fetch Omeeluum (haven't thought of making him use speed pots, might try it). The remaining party member handles the other Gondians and clears the coast some.
All the Gondians live for me with this strat, and nothing is more satisfying seeing them all happy and well, but I'm not so much looking forward to saving all of their families in the Foundry. Screw that quest. Nevertheless, the Iron Throne is fun. GGs on this run 👏
Also a tip: A projectile can activate the levers (just don't question the physics lol). A Ranger with Dread Ambusher and Extra Attack can open three cages in one turn, same with a Warlock with their triple Eldritch Blast (at Lv10 iirc). Not to mention the Haste that you put in your characters beforehand
@@MARUSHI-YTYes shooting the lever is a great idea, and you can lean more on that if your build has less movement speed but more actions. With this character I had a lot of movement speed due to items, bonus action dash, and haste. Next time I might see if I can use ravenguard to free a gondians, maybe I can shoot his lever and not go down that hall.
I saved 13/13 Gondians here, but only 1 (out of 10 maybe) in the factory :-(
Upcasted magic missile with the magic missile amulet is great for that.
that second room in the foundry is so fucking annoying I hate it. all the gondians die so fast.
When I did this everything went perfectly until one of the gondians ended up body blocking the first ladder on the last turn. She left me no choice but to put her down
F***ing Gondians!
Did you try pushing her? That will usually unstuck them
@@p1553d0f Astarion either failed the shove or I’d already used his bonus action to dash, don’t really remember since it’s been a while.
OMG this was great to watch! i play on balanced, and it was stressful enough for me haha. i had gale and shadowheart twincast haste, and do summons alongside wyll. the summons helped with both releasing the gondians and the duke, and also kept the monsters at bay/distracted. managed to save most of the gondians and the duke, sadly one gondian died to burning, and i couldn't get to omeluum due to the amount of monsters gathered where it was at. yours is a great strat tbh!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I found it fun and stressful on my first few runs but have been getting a better and understanding what matters most (haste, movement speed, letting people out early).
The dog on the ladder is so cursed
Grats on doing honor mode solo. Couldn't have been easy to get this far.
Thanks! I had lots of deaths before an eventual win.
@@shadowvor wow that's amazing! I had enough trouble completing it with a whole party! 🫣
Very cool. Would like to see this with some “Mizora trying to sabotage you” action.
Yes I'm keen to try with Mizora hindering next time. It definitely makes it harder. I think I would try to free him and have Scratch handy to do a help action on him, then try to move him away from the spiders and AoE them down. I felt guilty making Wyll sell his soul and ending up with spare turns at the end, but I wasn't confident before trying it.
@@shadowvor I definitely didn’t save all the gondians when I saved ravengard. I wonder if you can get omellum over there and just have him teleport ravengard before mizora shows up.
@@SuperdonkoI was able to except that one halfling woman in the big holding cell
Interesting strategies. Never used summons for this, using scratch seems like a really good idea. I use a very different strategy for this for paladins since I don't have cunning actions. I usually piss off Mizora, so at first I save Omellum and drop a speed potion for him. Then I save all the gondians. On omellum's turn he drinks speed potion teleports to sub, comes back down and mindflayer dominates the first enemy. Then I go save the duke and drop an invis pot for him. Usually one or two gondians die while I do this, but then Omellum can lock the main door and save everyone in the central chamber. On average most of the gondians survive, maybe one or two die. But duke and omellum always survive. I think if I use scratch I could further help out the action economy.
Thanks for the ideas! This was my best yet but still room for improvements. I think I could have handled angry Mizora spiders, maybe would have sent scratch to ravenguard first as I think help action clears the command:halt on him. Really Us didnt do much here, he can only really block doorways. Scratch can save you some "Help" actions. Could have used Ravenguard and Omeluum to help others a lot more, since you get full control of them and they can operate levers. Omeluum could teleport a Gondian from the south cell to safety if you did it on a later turn. I explored the North areas but I wouldnt do that again.
That duke r crit was hype
You don't even need to lockpick the cell door where Omeluum is held. There is a lever behind the crate right next to the door.
Thanks! Someone mentioned this and it helped a lot! I think I will now go for Omeluum first on Round 1 as he can help teleport people back.
@@shadowvor as I recall, the teleport spell is just a one time use for omeluum
Can't you just pull lever to open mindflayer room for free? I dont remember lickpicking that, could save an action. Great video.
Haha oops, I'll review that, I didnt see the lever but that would be way quicker because I had heaps of spare movement speed and was action limited.
Thanks for pointing this out, big room for improvement on the next run! I didn't notice the lever at all while doing it, but after watching the video a few times I see it on the Right side when facing Omeluum's door! Picking the lock or attacking the door is incredibly dumb then! :-P
tbh I had no idea there was loot on this level. When I rescued them all I just focused on the people. Great job :)
Yeah the loot is nothing special, I wouldn't prioritize the loot.
@@shadowvor 4 months of deathless ER challenge runs gave me PTSD, so for me the priority is always trying to remain hitless as long as possible. I could probably use prioritising loot a bit more in this game
I don't see anyone else mentioning: Bloodlust potion for more actions would probably be an upgrade from the Str elixir. Your damage should be fine to 2-shot still, and you get a full extra action per turn (or close).
Great point, bloodlust elixir is great for this fight as there are several enemies you need to kill if you want to keep everyone alive and the extra actions can be turned into movement speed with Dash. My character was dependent on Cloud giant elixirs as it was a Tavern Brawler throwing character with 8 starting Strength.
@@shadowvor Yeah, if you built for the cloud giant str it would be a rough switch 😛 I mostly meant for optimizing for another time 🙂
I missed this section of the game entirely, because I killed Gortash early. FeelsBadMan
Maybe you saved more lives in the city by taking him down quicker! It's a fun fight though, and if you do another playthrough it can be cool to have stuff you missed to look forward to. I missed the whole Mountain pass and Creche on my first run.
I didn’t rescued all of them , but on the last round tick I threw speed potions at everyone only to be left behind it was so much fun!
Nice work this is great info
Hey, this is incredible, great video. Can I ask how you could use so much movement?
Thanks! Halfling 7.5m + Crusher's Ring 3m + Nyrula 3m + Barbarian Level 5 3m = 16.5 x2 (Haste) = 33m per Turn, and more for each Dash Bonus action I used. Another commenter mentioned you can also 'Dash' before you go down the ladder and you go into Turn 1 with even more movement (and it doesn't use your action). Also Illithid Flying everywhere is faster than walking on the ground.
Every time I thought you'd run out of movement... That was really impressive. I was thinking about bailing on this bit with a full party in honour mode. I think you've just shamed me into doing it
Don't feel like you have to do it, but I enjoy it! I see it as a bonus side-mission that tests your party in a different way to other fights. It is a bit time consuming and not really any loot. I think if at least one party member makes it up the 1st ladder it shouldn't be a run-ender.
@@shadowvor I did lose Astarion when going to retrieve Omulum who wasn't there for reasons, but I did rescue everyone. I didn't loot the chests though, that was extra!
This should be an achievement
Very impressive!!! GG!
Thanks!
I completed the game twice and rn i realize there's a mind flayer omg
He's only there if you meet certain conditions beforehand, same with the duke
Talke to Blurge the Hobgoblin, who is a Vendor and member of the Society of Brillance from Act 1 in the underdark, who set up shop in the Myconid Colony , where friendly Mushroom zombies are.
Tell him about your parasite and he will summon Omelumm, the friendiest Mindflayer in game and another society of Brillance. Let Omelumm investigate your parasite, do his questline and you will find him in Act 3.
Sadly he doesn`t aid you in final fight, but he is a nice dude and will give you tons of stuff.
Hey, great video! Why do you always go directly to the enemies to throw Nyrula? Does it add extra damage from the Bhaalist Armor?
Yes
I think you can get close enough for aura of murder to take effect, but stay far enough away to not get disadvantage on the throw.
Yes and yes. It's double damage, the build obviously hurts itself a bit which is a downside, but I wanted to 1 or 2 shot these enemies to get them down quicker so they didnt get attacks on the Gondians and I would have more actions to 'Help' and 'Lockpick'.
@@SuperdonkoThanks I'll practice to see if I can get that, especially on important fights. I'm only missing on 1s because of Tavern Brawler's insane hit chance. A halfling attacking with disadvantage I reroll 1s, so it's 1 in 100 chance to miss. My experience on this run aligns with that (I do a lot of point blank attacking and almost never miss).
@@shadowvor Assuming BG3 is faithful to D&D rules, you have literally 1 foot of leeway (Aura range is 6ft, disadvantage at 5ft). With no visual aid to determine the distance, and with the insane value of Tavern Brawler, it's not even worth trying. IMO.
I haven't gotten to this part, but this looks like a nightmare 😅 I'm gonna fail so hard with this 😅😢
oh my god, I totally missed the mind flayer
Yeah that starts in the underdark so I’m not sure you have to have met Ophellion there in the fungus village but that’s how I did it. He talks to you as soon as you leave the submersible with dialogue options

Can you make video about your build? Or some info about
May do a guide or summary if I win the run, but it's still in progress. There's a bunch of info in gear and build in the description, let me know if any unanswered questions.
Nice video! Casting Magic Missiles can open many levers at once if you ever needed it.
Ooh that's an awesome idea!
I had very high movement speed on this run so wasn't looking to save it, but that could be more efficient than going down hallways or if you're finishing off a monster and opening doors!
@@shadowvor you had absolutely insane movement speed.
i did it just shooting arrows to the levers with every party member save a ton of movement x)
Yes shooting the lever is a great option, and lean more on that if your characters have less movement speed but more actions. With this character I had a lot of movement speed due to items, bonus action dash, haste, so flying over to levers and pulling I think was often the right move.
When I see Gortash saying that he will kill everyone in there if I go, I inmediatly came against Gortash, and... Well... I was left without doing the mission
It sucks to miss it but it can make a 2nd run more fun if you missed some interesting stuff :-)
Don't feel bad. Wyll is easily the most annoying character with no redeeming features IMO
You are too pro
How were you able to move like that and attack so much? Is it an illithid power?
Yes, Illithid Flying (or Fly potion) everywhere is faster than walking on the ground. Halfling 7.5m + Crusher's Ring 3m + Nyrula 3m + Barbarian Level 5 3m = 16.5 x2 (Haste) = 33m per Turn, and more for each Dash Bonus action used.
I struggled with a squad of four and the duke was already dead before I got there.
Me too - didn't save everyone on my first run with a full party and didn't even know about Omeluum!
The Duke can die if you fight Gortash during his coronation ceremony, or if you go here without progressing the coronation the Duke won't be here and kinda dies offscreen. Mizora may offer to resurrect him though, for the usual price.
Does anyone know how this is possible? She seems to have infinite resources to move(fly)
Not infinite movement speed just plenty.
Halfling 7.5m + Crusher's Ring 3m + Nyrula 3m + Barbarian Level 5 3m = 16.5 x2 (Haste) = 33m per Turn, and more for each Cunning Dash Bonus action I used. Another commenter mentioned you can also 'Dash' before you go down the ladder and you go into Turn 1 with even more movement (and it doesn't use your action), I didn't use that in this video but did on later ones. Illithid Flying everywhere is faster than walking on the ground, especially in the water areas.
Thanks a lot@@shadowvor
Sorry, I cant understand how can you do that amount of damage... can you (or someone else) explain to me how it works?
Damage Breakdown: 4-9 (Nyrula) +16 (Feat: Tavern Brawler with Cloud Giant Elixir) +1-4 (Ring of Flinging) = 21-29 piercing damage x2 from Piercing Vulnerabilty (Bhaalist Armour) for = 42-58 piercing damage
+1-4 fire damage (Flawed Helldusk Gloves)
+3-12 thunder damage (Nyrula AOE)
+Cull the weak with all Illithid powers so it should kill anyone if the hit leaves them on
Gortash wouldnt allow me to go here. Hopefully i can find a way next playthrough
He says that every time. You're supposed to go anyway!
My first try I got to save only 2 and was like aint no way :/
It's tricky the 1st time, you don't really what's going to happen!
hello brother, explain to me how it is possible to have a lot of movement?
Halfling 7.5m + Crusher's Ring 3m + Nyrula 3m + Barbarian Level 5 3m = 16.5 x2 (Haste) = 33m per Turn, and more for each Dash Bonus action I used.
No guide for the build?
Not yet! There's a summary of the build and gear I used for each fight in the description of the video(s). I may do a guide in the future to explain in a bit more detail, but it has a lot in common with most other Tavern Brawler Berserkers.
wtf.. did that dog climb down a ladder?
Yeah, doesn't your dog to that?
What in the fuck was your movement speed?
solo means 1
in fact you have 3 characters
not approved
I've defined "Solo" as using 1 of 4 possible "Party Member" slots in combat and for checks. I've allowed myself Summons, Familiars, Temporary Companions. I recruited companions to Camp for XP and story but don't use them for combat, checks, or buffs. The game forces temporary companions into your party at certain times too, so there's no true 'solo mode'
I might try a run with Zero summons/familiars in future if I need more challenge but this was hard enough for me!
How do you one shot them?
Damage Breakdown: 4-9 (Nyrula) +16 (Feat: Tavern Brawler with Cloud Giant Elixir) +1-4 (Ring of Flinging) = 21-29 piercing damage x2 from Piercing Vulnerabilty (Bhaalist Armour) for = 42-58 piercing damage
+1-4 fire damage (Flawed Helldusk Gloves)
+3-12 thunder damage (Nyrula AOE)
+Cull the weak with all Illithid powers so it should kill anyone if the hit leaves them on
"solo"
By Solo I mean I'm using 1 of the 4 available party member slots. One day I might try a run without Scratch, Us, or summons, but this was challenging enough for me. There are also lot of places through the game you're given control of another character (Omeluum and Ravenguard here, Emperor finale, Lae'zel Prologue, Florrick rescue, Sazza rescue) making it hard to 'true-solo' even if you tried.
These fake Solo Videos are click bait smh.
Using hirelings for boosts then leaving them in camp before you start recording *is not a true solo run* 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I haven't used any Hirelings, nor am I using any companions to buff.
I love that you can watch him literally fly around all of the iron throne in 5 rounds, freeing everyone, and call it clickbait cause he brought a dog and a "cat"...
How do you disable mizora from sabotaging u
Easy, You just have to sell Wyll's soul to Mizora! Then she helps in this fight (buffs him) instead of Hinders. I thought this would be harder and wanted to make sure he lived. I won't do this next time though and if I get here again I'll upload a version where I deal with the Sabotage.
I think it should be doable with all the other tips I learned from the comments (Omeluum's Lever, pre-fight Dash, Magic missile buttons).
