Broken door restrictor on the JCPenney elevator

this is EXACTLY what my local jcpenney elevator does. the door restrictor is "missing", and it leaves a gap just like this if there are no calls. This really needs to be addressed, as this is quite dangerous. it is very hard to pry the doors open during travel because the gap is very tight, however I'll eventually manage.
The elevator has been redtagged before, yet it's still in operation 😳
Also, elevator doors do not have interlocks on the inner doors. Instead, they use a gate switch & a door restrictor. That's what these are missing, as well as a door operator that doesn't bother keeping the doors closed.

Elevators do NOT have interlocks on the car doors, however some elevators have what is called a "door restrictor", a device that locks the car doors when the elevator is moving (or at least when it is NOT within a door zone). in some states (possibly including Iowa, but not sure), door restrictors are a required retrofit, but in others (including California to my knowledge) door restrictors are NOT required on existing elevators.

Ok so door restrictors are required in Iowa, and this still doesnt have one as of recently. I reported this to the state.
