Hello everyone, I redid the test between Woby x Beefalo rider (glossamer saddle). For some reason, even with 100% of the badge, my Woby was not at its real speed. After resetting the badges, it reached its real final speed. I didn't check its final speed in the codes, I ended up making this mistake. My apologies. Here is the comparison video: ua-cam.com/video/s7meEtGZ3kQ/v-deo.html In other words, in the end, Woby won against the Beefalos. Thanks @Reminiscento for alerting me about this.
Nah, it's better to tame a beefalo, it takes a bit longer but it has a lot of advantages Instead they should spend those insight points in other skills
The direction on Walter is okay I guess. He always appeared to be a survivalist explorer, so I assumed the skill tree would add a lot of survival or camping crafts, such as a sling or an atlatl, or for the survival stuff, maybe he would be able to create open air tent canopies? Plus, maybe Klei would make him an ideal explorer for viewing the whole map by giving him special rafts, Woby buffs, herbal medicines, or explorer tools. I'm simply shocked that Walter has about 10 (edit: 16 entire perks points based narrowly on only slingshots????) perks based on his slingshot whereas Wolfgang can make a variety of his own personal crafts for basically a single perk. (I only looked at the new perk tree once a few days ago, so I'm only partially certain about that). I'm stuck staring at the screen for Walter. He is practically an endless well of potential for survivability in concept, but it seems partially squandered by the narrow focus of his perk tree.
My idea for the atlatl would just be that Walter would be able to throw spears innately by having that in his inventory. The history of the atlatl is interesting, as it's highly theorized to be the tool that brought modern humans ahead of neanderthals (they were significantly less capable of throwing things compared to modern homo sapiens). Anyways, that'd be perfect for a scout like Walter. Another item: canopy tents. They existed in shipwrecked, it makes sense an experienced camper or boy scout would know how to create one in DS Together. Players would be able to protect themselves from rain instead of awkwardly standing with ten individual umbrellas in a circle around a dwarf star. Another item: a sling. Basically able to sling a rock from a distance, but it reloads as Walter runs away, contrary to Slingshots which can only be loaded during active aiming. It's simply balanced by having burst damage but a slow attack period. Using it, Walter could focus on dodging attacks while occasionally lobbing a huge rock. It's another survival craft I think would fit Walter considering he has a fondness for makeshift weaponry and Bushcraft survival.
You'll have to spent almost same amount of time on training to get that speed. Before that, its just a worse beefalo that cant do anything and bucks you off if you get hit by random stuff. Even after getting 100% speed badge woby is worse than tamed beefalo in any aspect except inventory and speed (depends on beefalo gear).
@@Sir_Noel i think that the point of walter. He is just Chill and easy gameplay. Not much beginner friendly, but definaly good when playing casual with friends and enjoying de sandbox aspect.
The devs mentioned in their recent blog that the next update to the beta will both make the training progress more engaging and easier to understand, alongside tweaking the numbers to make Woby a competitve alternative to Beefalo. So hopefully the changes will help Woby out with gaining the speed points
I think they should let Woby absorb 100% physical damage when hit like a beefalo. Combine that with the skill that lets her take more hits before bucking you off and I think it'd be good.
Hey Ameslarii how to get % in those 2 skills where woby need more damage to knock you off and you lose less sanity while riding on her? (And do you know any command/mod to speed it up because i want to test that already)
I haven't tested these two skills yet unfortunately, but I believe it's by taking damage, a mod you can use is too many items to speed up your game and make the method faster
the song at the beginning is called: Knave the Hedgehog and an Oversized Letter Opener - Sonic and the Black Knight [OST], and from the middle to the end: Honolulu City Lights【Full Spec Edition】
the video is not entirely correct; with both agility badges maxed out woby's speed peaks at 13, while glossamer rider beefalo only has 12.4, so woby should've come at the top of the ranking instead of 3rd place
Thanks for the information, I just did a new test and Woby actually won, I don't know if I was on an outdated version or if the 100% skill wasn't active yet, I'll make a mini video comparing and pin it in the comments

I really like your ideas.
I feel all of the Woby skills need less time to master them all, because of how they can be lost from swapping so easily
Pretty decent speed considering you dont have to do the whole taming process. And just have to feed woby monster meat once in awhile

Compared to a beefalo it definitely takes longer, but if you're not worried about doing things as fast as possible, it's a much more relaxed process.
