    I changed out the blower motor...it's still not turning. I think I may need to get a new resistor or connector 👀🤔thanks for this video! Keeps me from having to outsource!❤❤

    Thank you for the video. It's not a resistor but almost NO online drawing or parts house can tell you that. If you put a resistor for the 2007 Kia that's supposed to fit then the blower will run low speed as long as the car is on. The replacement that is wrong will have 4 terminals. As you show the right one has three terminals. The tiny green wire provides PWM from the computer which turns on and off a mosfet transistor. In essence this works like a dimmer. This gives you infinite speed control even though the console knob has clicks. Other versions have a set of fixed speeds. This is a low side transistor switch as it is in the ground of the blower circuit so the blower is always powered but only comes on when the other terminal is connected to ground. You can connect the two larger wires together and the fan will be at max speed with zero control while the car is on.
    My filter had maple seeds and a few large mummified bugs. Yummy. My harness going to the resistor was completely slagged and the connector was crumbling.
    To find the right part I had to call and talk to an actual people at a dealership. It was horrible. ;) They want just under $300, a kia place online wants $100 with $40 shipping for the allegedly genuine part.
    Kia 971791F210 Transistor-Field Effect 2005-2011
    So I cleaned up the old melted ones contacts, redid the cabling with the right size spade lugs and new wire spliced into the harness. And the sucker still works. It is really melted like a candle but the internals work just fine. With the new blower nothing is getting hot. I have AC. As soon as I can get a new harness and transistor I'll replace them but for now it works.

    Hello, I have exactly the same problem for the same car but I am unable to recognize which pin in the resistor goes to which wire after the harness. This is because the old harness us completely burned with its wires it it was fragmented , and the new harness has all the wires are black in color. Thank you for your nice video!

    Wow thank u for the good video. I have a 2009 Spectra, over 160K miles. For the last 5 years from spring to fall I have to slap blower to get it to run. I have notice though problem always seems to be loose wiring connections so with a jiggle of cable plug it usually started up, not anymore lol. Over last several days the blower would just stop, that was never the problem. The problem was always turning it initially on, once that happened it was fine. Now the sucker won't run at all. I think thanks to your solid video I am going to trouble shoot myself. Hoping I can address if myself instead needing to shell out a couple hundred bucks.

      @@projectfixit Good news to report lol. I replaced the blower motor today on my Spectra thanks to the help of your video 👍. I rolled the dice and didn't buy the resistor just yet. My only hiccup was the cable connection, for the life of me the connector wouldn't unplug so I had to be really careful. I took out the screws and pulled the blower down first. I had to use a wrench and use screwdriver to slowly remove the plug which was all gummed up.
      Once unplugged I carefully reconnected the new blower, turned on the power, and turned on the blower control and SUCCESS! I reinstalled the blower and tightened the screws up and was good to go! The blower I bought was a new model from Auto Zone for about $80 with tax. I could have found a unit cheaper but considering it was 85 degrees today with a high of around 90 over the next few more days I wasn't going to wait lol. Thanks for your informative video work, big help 👍🙂

    Have you replaced the wire harness yet? I have a 2006 Kia Sportage and need to do the same replacements as you did with the resistor, connector, and wire harness. I had the blower motor replaced and of course that didn't fix the problem. I just want to see how to replace the wire harness, so I don't make a mistake.

    • @projectfixit
      @projectfixit  4 роки тому +1

      I do not have footage as the connector is in-hand, but car owner has not brought it to me to install because it is working just fine with my temporary fix.
      The key to replacing it is (with battery disconnected) is cut a single wire close to the old connector and splice the same respective wire on the new harness to that wire you just cut. Do this process one wire at a time as to not get the wires mixed up. I prefer the soldier method for slicing wires, but a butt splice would do just fine.
      Below is a link for soldier butt splices. I was thinking about buying some of these. You should watch the video as it does a fantastic job explaining how to splice the wires.

    • @projectfixit

      Yes. it sounds like the same issue. Check the resistor and connection where the passenger's left foot will sit just aft of the blower motor. Motor does not need to be removed anymore. Your wiring might be really hot and I would suggest replacing the resistor and the connector if the connector is all burnt like ours was.

    • @projectfixit
      @projectfixit  2 роки тому

      This could be a number of things. Check your coolant level to ensure antifreeze is topped off. I would expect another symptom associated with this like car overheating when at a stoplight or idle. It's possible the thermostat may be stuck, if the coolant level was good. Otherwise, it may be a clogged heater core.
