I used to think GoldenEye was the Broz's best, and I still really like it, but TWINE really surprised me when I last watched it. It's close, but I think I prefer that just a smidgeon. If nothing else, I think TWINE contains his best performance as 007 - he really seemed to have found his groove by that point.
I think GE is on the whole Brosnan's best, like they said in the video, but I agree that TWINE is his best performance. And I think TWINE has his best scene as Bond: when he kills Sophie Marceau and M is watching. His second best scene is TND when he's pouring vodka alone in the hotel and putting the silencer on the Walther waiting to see who shows up. The problem TND had IMO is that it felt incomplete and rushed in a way and the villain idea was good but Pryce doesn't pull it off as well. And TWINE's problem is that it did get a little too silly at points and, of course, Christmas Jones severely hurt the film the most.
The World Is Not Enough gets a lot of flack, but actually has a great deal of depth & is easily one of the series' darkest films of the first 40 years.
I used to hate World but rewatched it recently and I now see what they were trying to do with it, make a real unpredictable story with more intrigue and drama. The m kidnapping reminds me of parts of skyfall funny enough.
@@jebiniv I feel similarly to you. The World Is Not Enough isn't quite as good as GoldenEye but it's proof the series was looking to go down a darker & more character-driven path...years before Jason Bourne & Nolan's Batman.
My late mother was from Ireland. She was so happy when Pierce Brosnan became James Bond. I wasn't too happy because I was a huge fan of Timothy Dalton's Bond films. However, Brosnan was terrific in GoldenEye. He was also great in Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough. As for Die Another Day, the less said about that movie the better.
I wasn't very happy either when Brosnan took the mantle from Timothy Dalton. I remember when I visited Madame Tussauds London in 1993 Timothy Dalton was still Bond. Good old days.
I still do not agree with haters for this soundtrack. It's electronic yeah, it was new, but I felt it really held the tension, the romance the fun of the movie. Eric Serra was good, here too.
You gotta be kidding me. Brosnan's delivery of the line "The name's Bond, James Bond" in GoldenEye is by far the smoothiest and classy one of all time. No one, before and after, did such a fine job. The same goes for the gunbarrel walk n shoot.

Kudos to them, they know their stuff. I was impressed how they noticed some minor details, such as Pierce Brosnan's walk when he opens a door on the boat.
My oldest son was 10 when I took him to see Goldeneye. He told me today that it was one of the most influential movies of his youth (the N64 video game may have contributed to that assessment). He recently bought an Omega Seamaster watch, which Bond wore in the movie. He said he's always wanted one.
Best cast of Brosnan's bonds, also one of the most beautifully shot. They should have mentioned the cinematography. I think it's very interesting that they talked about Brosnan's body language, spot on, haven't ever heard reviewers mention it before. Golden Eye is a great Bond film. My only real criticism is the BMW Z3 was talked about being the new bond car and when you see the film it's on screen for just seconds and isn't a gadget laiden car.
Thought "Tomorrow Never Dies" was Brosnan's best. It brought back a more classic Bond feel which especially was underscored by David Arnold joining the series with his beautiful musical scores. The pacing and editing of this one was perfect, and it was a lot of fun! Plus, Brosnan really hit his stride in the Bond role here as he was just effortless in this movie. Goldeneye to me just didn't have a kinetic rhythm or pacing to it that moved me along. The opening was fantastic but the movie kept hitting brick walls with pacing after that. A lot of Goldeneye felt like parody as the movie was overly self-aware of Bond being somewhat ridiculous in a modern age. I love Martin Campbell but felt Casino Royale was his masterpiece. Tomorrow Never Dies just hit the right tone and that's why it's Brosnan's best.

I suggest you "the women of Bond" as a topic of discussion in a different video and why not inviting women to have their point of view ? I would love to see that.
The world is not enough is one of his best james bond movies. He should had been given a fifth james bond movie they had told him they wanted to made a remade of her majesty in fact he was to do that. It had been planned for his four james bond movie but they did die another day. They kept talking to him about that remade of her majesty until they felt they wanted a different way with different actor
Hi David, one thing you forgot to mention is that Timothy Dalton was offered the 007 role as far back as 1968 - but felt he was too young. To me, this was forward thinking from Broccoli. After Craig, we need a far younger actor to fill the shoes. Aidan Turner was always my favourite to succeed Craig, but sadly can't see that now.
I think Golden Eye was Brosnan's best Bond movie, but my biggest critique is the score. I wish David Arnold would have been brought in for this movie. From that opening scene when Pierce jumps into the plane needed a big powerful musical accompaniment, to when Brosnan's introduces himself as Bond and that Moscow tank scene.
Of course not but wasn't the worst either #4:the world is not enough #3:goldeney #2:tomorow never die And #1:die another day Brosnan was one of the best bond #6:dalton #5:creg #4:lagenzie #3:connery #2:brossnan And #1:sir roger moor
Good debut. Interesting being up against a former 00. Liked the PTS & theme song. Brosnan looked youthful & handsome. He would have been looking for 6 films.
But would the plot be the same without Natalya? She reveals that General Ourumov stole the Goldeneye device. She tracks the bad guys to Cuba She fires the retro rockets on the second Goldeneye satellite, full filling her promise that she can disarm the device. Boris do break her code but can not send new command to the satellite because Bond has blocked the antenna. A perfect example of cooperation where the contribution of both parties are needed. And finally, she hijacks the chopper so Bond can escape from the satellite dish hub seconds before it falls and he would be killed.
GoldenEye is indeed Brosnans´ best. However Live And Let Die isn´t Moores´ best. I would also say Licence To Kill is Daltons´ best. In the case of Brosnan and Craig their first movies were indeed their best film - By the way GoldenEye and Casino Royale shared the same director.
I loved the Soviet aspect, this will always go down as one of my favourite Bond’s. The early mid 1990’s was a great era for films, the sets were great & the models, I thought Brosnan was very convincing & put in a great performance as Bond, & it had a solid plot
How about the last Bond movie of each actor is their worst? Arguably true for all including Craig, although now we know he's not stopping at SPECTRE lol.
Well, Craig has a great chance at leaving on a high note, they hired a really good director for Bond 25. Besides, Dalton's last movie was arguably his best, so not really true for all. I guess Lazenby doesn't count, because he had only one.
Easy. Goldeneye. I think it's the only great Brosnan Bond film. TND &TWINE are enjoyable & I do like watching them still but neither are imo great Bond films. Though I do often find myself watching them over Goldeneye as they are both more fun. Goldeneye though is the better film.
People try to say that Goldeneye was written with Dalton in mind but go through that whole film, there are many parts that are definitely Brosnan like the racing part at the beginning can you see Dalton pulling that off
10:47 In this fight scene their moves are ridiculously slow - but the directing is terrific, especially when the camera follows the gun going off. Speed it up a bit and you've got a Jason Bourne fight scene.
OK - gotta defend the Serra score! Other than that quirky bing-bop bit, I loved the reinterpretation of a Bond score for the 90s. In fact, I prefer 'A Pleasant Drive Through St. Petersburg' over the generic orchestral insert. Funnily enough, I remember hearing this in the theater, thinking that they only changed it for home video, but I must be mistaken. Could there be prints out there that had a full Serra score?
I don't understand how you can say Natalya didn't do much, aside from tracking the villians to Cuba, she hacked Goldeneye and made it explode on re-entry as well as saying Bond's live at the end but hijacking the helecopter. She is far from a Stacy Sutton
@TheBondExperience I think you guys missed the mark a bit on this one. When Danny Boyle said he wanted to "modernize" and make it more "feminist friendly", he wasn't referring to a lack of strong female leads. He was actually talking about the not-entirely-consensual ways Bond hooked up with females, particularly in the earlier films like Thunderball and Goldfinger. Everyone knows there have been quite a few strong female leads throughout the films, but you guys missed the point entirely.
I thought Tomorrow Never Dies was his best, followed by TWINE. They felt more modern. The one thing that always bugged me about Goldeneye was the music score. I absolutely hated the score. David Arnold and Michael Kamen are my favorite Bond composers.
Disagree wholeheartedly about Natalya being expendable. Natalya's story in Severnaya drives the plot forward massively, and she serves a useful purpose in the Cuban control centre
I like _GoldenEye_ much moreso than the next three: It has the least "eye roll factor" of them and, in my opinion, feels the most grounded. If that's not what you're looking for, that's fine.
Yes, it was his best. As LALD was Moore's best. In fact, both movies are in my top 10. But I'm a book-Bond fan...so FRWL and Casino Royale are the top two!
Personally - I think Tomorrow Never Dies is Brosnan's best. The thing that always bothers me slightly about Goldeneye are, Brosnan is a little bit skinny in it, his hair is too long, the whole scene on the Russian base seems to go on forever, and there are too many times when the villain has Bond captured and should just have shot him, instead of putting him on that helicopter, or locking him up on the train. It's still a very good entry in the series though.
The models work perfectly... What are you guys talking about? The score is excellent as well- Maybe not Ladies´ First but the rest of the score is fantastic. No the music doesn´t sound like a bad videogame. It sounds like genious use of sounds and percussions. By the way the love theme is very underrated. WHAT!??! You don´t think Natalya looks awesome? She is one of my favourites. Bondgirls are not necessarily supposed to be tough.
Best? Without question. My favorite? ...Okay also yes. But TND and TWiNE are close for me, as a '90s kid. Total comfort food. Die Another Day is my least favorite Brosnan, but I still enjoy it every so often.
I’d argue it is or it’s at least a strong contender for the title. Although the music Eric Serra is responsible for is just awful and to me, doesn’t fit the film. Serra also leaves specific moments unscored and leaves them kinda weak, main example is Brosnan giving THE line. I’d be up for David Arnold rescore
David and Joe it's an interesting analysis of Brosnon Best as 007. Tommorow Never Dies and World is not Enough are my favorite of Brosnon as Bond too. The female actors role is more powerful in that movies too. I also agree with you leading women character in Bond film has been powerful but somehow it get less commanding in Craig period. In the time of Roger Moore, Sean Connery, George Lazenby it has been more like a team effort which even Pierce Brosnon did it considerably along with other Bond women. Except in Casino Royale Craig has not formed a lasting allaince with any female actor hopefully Bond 25 will bring some great team work and a happy ending too.
Pierce Brosnan is such a better James Bond than most of the other ones. This guy is suave but also tough and strong. He can be funny but deadly. Just perfect.
It never gets old, the pre-title sequence and song still gets me pumped up. 🔥🔥

I suggest you "the women of Bond" as a topic of discussion in a different video and why not inviting women to have their point of view ? I would love to see that.
I’ve got the Omega from this movie.
I love Goldeneye. But it is hard for me to select Brosnan's best. I love how he was in the role.
Goldeneye Brosnan had some Remington Steele still in him, including that mullet from the 1980s.
Of course not but wasn't the worst either
#4:the world is not enough
#3:goldeney
#2:tomorow never die
And #1:die another day
Brosnan was one of the best bond
#6:dalton
#5:creg
#4:lagenzie
#3:connery
#2:brossnan
And #1:sir roger moor
Do "OHMSS, was it Lazenby's best" next 😉
Good debut. Interesting being up against a former 00. Liked the PTS & theme song. Brosnan looked youthful & handsome. He would have been looking for 6 films.
But would the plot be the same without Natalya?
She reveals that General Ourumov stole the Goldeneye device.
She tracks the bad guys to Cuba
She fires the retro rockets on the second Goldeneye satellite, full filling her promise that she can disarm the device.
Other than Sean : Every other Bond actors first movie as Bond is their best.
Moore's third Bond was his best.
Martin Campbell is one of the only directors who should be allowed near a Bond film.
He brought Bond and Zorro back from the dead.
I never knew that projection bit. Great insight.
You guys should review all the films :)
David, I love your videos, they are so many, is there one where you talk about tomorrow never dies? (My favorite bond movie)
TL;DR Yes, yes it is
If I could like this 5 times I would, excellent review! I know I'm late to the party, but had to leave a comment
Easy. Goldeneye. I think it's the only great Brosnan Bond film. TND &TWINE are enjoyable & I do like watching them still but neither are imo great Bond films. Though I do often find myself watching them over Goldeneye as they are both more fun. Goldeneye though is the better film.
You guys hate the music of Goldeneye? Wow
Are they kidding, brosnan look like he can
fight, the man throws The worst looking punches , are they drunk on martinis
He was a very good looking
I really enjoy your movie reviews with this older gentleman. The other fella was too young and probably hasn't paid a bill yet.
Short answer: yes. Yes it is.
The sequels deserve praise they get GoldenEye Tomorrow Never Dies World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day are all Brilliant
Golden eye definitely beats tomorrow never dies
You guys have great Bond knowledge. Definitely sound like you know what you're talking about :D #CantWaitForBond25
I'm telling u all now Goldeneye should've got 2 oscars- best action movie and best supporting casts👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I like _GoldenEye_ much moreso than the next three: It has the least "eye roll factor" of them and, in my opinion, feels the most grounded. If that's not what you're looking for, that's fine.
Best Brosnan movie! Hands down
Being a godzilla fan as well, I really enjoy good sets. Yeah it is noticeable if im thinking about it but i choose to enjoy it.
Not only is Goldeneye Brosnans best. It's one of the Best movies in the series.
In Brosnan and Craig's cases, I agree. No argument there.
Goldeneye is a Bond film that really should be re-scored. Preferably by David Arnold. Dr. No would also benefit.
The world is not enough is my favourite. But all are good apart from his last film.
tomorrow never dies...michelle yeoh...best bond girl ever....
In depth.
T N D is his best, much more at home ad bond. The pressure was of him and he looks like he is having more fun
I love the music, except the car chase music haha. It's a guilty pleasure but they could have put something better there instead!
I will ALWAYS pick a model over CGI.
LOL! My wife would leave me for Pierce or George Clooney!
Pierce Brosnan is such a better James Bond than most of the other ones. This guy is suave but also tough and strong. He can be funny but deadly. Just perfect.
Brosnan is Bond!!
Goldeneye is his best film and it’s not even close.
GoldenEye followed by The World is Not Enough are his best.
I have been known to keep my tip up
