Should I move to my favourite city in Europe?

- I love this city more and more every time I visit it. And now that I'm not massively tied to the UK I'm very tempted to more here. I just need to find the perfect place to stay and I think I might have done just that.

Move to where makes you happiest. It might not be forever, but if it’s right for now, then why not? Moving from the UK to the continent is harder since Brexit but not impossible. Enjoy life!
IIRC she grew up in France so may well have a French passport.
I made the move from London to Prague and haven't looked back. Being on mainland Europe is perfect : the summers are nicely hot; the winters are nicely cold ( it's a dry cold. Once you're bundled up and have good boots, you're fine); public transport is so good you would never need a car; public travel cards are cheap; and you're central in Europe so train travel to Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Graz, Llubjana etc. is a doddle. Living abroad broadens the mind. And if you don't like it, you can always go home. That space is plenty big. As an expat you'll be out all the time at the weekends doing cool stuff anyway. Make the move ! :)
Editing video on a trackpad is absolutely insane. Props to you Lucy!
Lucy seems a really nice person to hangout, love her way to see things. great content aways Lucy, keep it going!
Not sure how much that cost...but I could see myself living in that space very easily.
Has all the comforts of home without unnecessary clutter.
Love the bed and stairs combo...brilliant!
Lucy "Flappy hands" Brown xD Love it! Really enjoy you making videos for this channel again! You are so much more confident infront of the camera now, it's great to see :D
*crazy* hands
Ehhhh….
It is her own channel 🤔
@@bert2530 Yeah but she took a break from posting on it for a long time :)
Yes, move to vienna! The most liveable city in the world! Well, and the grumpiest. But never mind, we would love to have you here 😃
6:08: Olympic trials! Whoo-hoo!
Loving this video. This is really great, in Lucy's amazing chill style.
I lived in Belgrade, Zagreb, Berlin, Hamburg, Oxford, born in London, Geneve ohh and Naples. I now live in Lincolnshire in the middle of the wolds. Just me and a dog. Its a growing process Lucy. Getting happy in your own skin takes time. Good luck x
Moved from UK to Prague and I think the only complaint I have is the having to get on a plane a lot to visit friends and family, it can get quite tiresome so if you are fairly near the airport you should be good! I recommend the European life, good luck Lucy! 😀
I would love to stay in a flat like that and i like the pull out stairs leading to the bed.
8:38 Thats gotta be the most British "oowuruwl" ive ever heard :D
Great Video with really nice imagery, good information, and good humor thrown in!
Please keep on making new videos. This is a gem!!
Vienna is a great city, and I think it suits you well! Why not take the opportunity while you can to see how it works out
Nice. Apartment look's tidy i like it.
This was one of those where I went in wondering how on earth this could be interesting, based on the title alone, and somehow you made it very interesting and entertaining! Some top notch editing as usual. Haven't been in Austria for almost 20 years, but it's such a beautiful country.
Lived there for 10 years in the 1990s, an amazing experience and still my favourite city. Living next door the the Prater may be a little noisy at times, but only a few stops on the underground into the first district/city centre. And as you say, come winter or summer, always something going on.
That's a really nice video Lucy! Thanks for the tour and you're doing great with the hands!
If you like it, go for it. Worked in vienna for almost 11 years. And i personally wasn't a fan of the constant wind. I was not used to that as there's little to no wind where i grew up. So me personally, it took me 2 years to get used to it. But if you are already visiting vienna often and for a few days and have no problem with the wind, even in winter, you'll be fine.
A nice thing in vienna is that you can reach almost everything with the U-bahn, and the tickets aren't overly expensive.
People in vienna have the image of being grumpy and in some worldwide questionaires as being unfriendly. But to me that's just a stereotype.
They aren't more unfriendly or more grumpy than others in europe. It's just that there are different expectations on interactions in different areas of the world. Austrians and mostly everybody north of austria in europe won't usually start a conversation with a stranger for no other reason than to start a conversation.
And the local viennese dialect to some sounds a little more grumpy than other german dialects.
The biggest question to me is, weren't you the one who didn't like cheese much in the James May cook-bunker videos?
And if so, is it no problem on Pizza? and then, have you tried a Käsekrainer saussage in vienna?
Brilliant insight lucy go where you are most happy.
As long as the content keeps coming ✨️
always good stuff lucy thanks
very well thought place to stay... kudos to the designer...
somewhere different and flight time back to blighty isnt all that bad...
Great video, as always. Thanks
What a great little flat! A proper balcony (i.e. not a Juliet one) makes all the difference I find. The moving staircase is a genius idea.
Good for you Lucy. Looks amazing.
That place looks awesome, love the pull out stairs & extra common space upstairs - go for it Lucy 😊
Love watching your take on things.
Lovely video! Very nice to get to tag along on your journey. Going to vienna next week, really pumped!
Love Europe...
Love your new place.. everything is so contemporary looking... the City looks so clean!!
Good luck Lucy Brown!!
Nice!! All the best!! Enjoying the content.
Nice to see you fully relaxed on a trip. ❤
Nice video! Vienna seems interesting, can’t wait to visit. Loved the simplicity and space saving design of the apartment. Really cool feature with the extendable stairs to get to the bed. Especially liked the balcony and terrace.
Excellent content and editing Lucy, keep it coming!
I hadn't even considered Austria. Until now! It does look a beautiful city and definitely one to add to 'must visit' list
I'd live there just for the hidden stairs!
You looked very happy and chill in Vienna! 😊😘
Not gonna lie, the pull out steps to access the bed is a really cool little design touch.
Top engineering.Stairs when done properly take up so much room.
Nice Video, Thanks Lucy.👍
We Love You Lucy!
Go for it Lucy, theirs alot of people that would love to do it but don't and they miss out on that excitement of new place and people .
Great vid and i love the apartmen design, good for one person that loves to travel 👌🇦🇺
What a great video 😃So chill, yet so entertaining. Austria is my favourite country, although I like the high mountain areas more, but Vienna is really nice.
Love the crazy hands :)
loving this blog style vid!
Hi Lucy, another lovely video and as a long term uk Expat myself I have alot of experience of living abroad. Some things that have repeated themselves as hurdles have been wardrobe space, space for 'stuff' which was always a kitchen drawer and a cupboard in a spare room and so importantly, the number of sockets to plug your gear in. Try to picture what you use daily that isn't there and where will it go and will it work once you bring it over. Anyway, a great video and looking forward to your next one. Thanks Lucy.
Thank you for posting
It looks great! So weird to see darkness in summer as we have 24 hour sun at the moment up in the far North of Finland.
It’s harder to move now since Brexit but it’s worth it.
That place looks lovely!
That looks like a pretty cool place to live! Love it!
At this stage in your life, definitely go to where you’re most comfortable. You’ve been visiting your friend for awhile and you’ve enjoyed the city even in the winter! (That says a lot if you’re enjoying winter in this city!)
The place is ideal. I say go for it! 👍🏻
Go for it Lucy. Vienna looks amazing.
Lucy, your videos keep getting better and better, you are young and if you feel you need to move go ahead and do it. This looks like a nice place to live so why not do it. Best wishes from Iowa USA.
What a cool library. Vienna looks awesome.
I'm so jealous of that little space in Vienna. Personally, I'm currently renting a 24 ish square metre flat with my partner but it doesn't have a balcony and it's not in the nicest location. I'd love to have a little balcony, just to give us that little bit of extra space, especially outdoors.
Yes move there, you seem very happy there
I moved once out of the uk. I regretted it instantly. Was back home in a nice pub and having tea within 3 months😂
Eye Luv Lucy, just came to me. Glad to see on your own thing.❤
As long as you have the motivation to go out by yourself and meet people/explore, it's all good. I could see very easily getting caught up working and living in that tiny space far too much and becoming a bit of a shut in. Make the conscious effort to keep getting out there!
Happiness in your being is always the most important consideration Lucy. Try not to be hasty but follow your gut/soul/heart. 👊
It looks like a beautiful city. Thank you for posting hopefully your new home
Yes. Move there. I moved to Bratislava (next door) from the UK. That said, I have also lived in Amsterdam, Munich and Prague before this, so I am experienced with living in different places. Stick with it for at least six months and be open to the fact that living somewhere else is going to be different so adapt.
Of course you should move there! Youth is the time for exploration!
Reminds me of those micro rooms in Japan - really cool!
I love Vienna, my dream city is Berlin, I even speak German, and try to visit a German speaking country at least one or two times a year and I live in Americaland. I've visited Berlin a number of times, and would happily choose Vienna as a home base if I couldn't make Berlin work. The only drawbacks in my eye are both are relatively smaller airports, so most flights will require a stop at a major airport for my transoceanic travels, and that would easily put Vienna ahead of Berlin at the moment.
My big sister just finished her residency and started as a fellow on Monday. I'm hoping to take her on her first international trip (now that she gets to take some time off) and I think Vienna is a great mix of history, culture, vibe, food, and "differentness" as a first trip, especially since she isn't big on France or Italy (not that she doesn't like France ro Italy, she just wants something a little more manageable as a first forrey than Paris or Rome)
The zoku in Copenhagen is also really nice, room is exactly the same!
Looks really nice, you should go there as much as you can afford, you seem happy there so as long as it doesn't become too normal for you, keep doing it, it's a fairly special place for you, so I think it's important to make sure it remains special for you
“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.”
-Don Hertzfeldt, World of Tomorrow
Keep it up Lucy, and really great that you’re free 🆓. Enjoy your work, ex James May
Very very beautiful Village & city 🌆
Lucy Brown... a worldwide treasure!
Yes
Vienna is certainly a fab place. And having your hair back really suits you 😊
That place looks great!!
You should go for it I think it would be a wonderful experience. The place looks cozy as well.
Great work, i loved this one. Go for it Lucy, if You can work from Vienna just move. Keep doing travel films.
Welcome to Vienna Lucy! Could have sworn I saw you near Westbahnhof a couple of days ago.
You made a fun video and i love living in a small space.
Always support people following their heart & dreams! Though selfishly I hope you find a place with a bug out bunker kitchen to keep the fun vibes with James going :)
Vienna is an amazing city and even if you only move there for a few years you will love it!!
Once again ... love your videos . The old adage applies , better to have tried and failed , than not to have tried at all. In this case there is no failure , If you don't like it , simply change.
Totally different question if renting vs buying - just be sure how long the tenancy commitment is if things don’t work out.
Also need to consider how long you can stay as a Brit if not going for residency, and if you are how that could impact you for tax etc.
You appear to have minimal ties to the U.K. (family, partner, existing property etc.) so making the move now before committing to those things is an opportunity to consider.
Remember, it’s not “forever”. In another 5-10 years time your wants and priorities will have evolved, and you could be on the other side of the planet - maybe in 25 years even on another planet or the moon!
Cool little apartment, looks like it has been really well designed. Would be interesting to get James May to do a tour!
That apartment (flat) looks awesome and right sized for one or two. I'd go for it
Yes - Cheers from Vienna! 🙂
Oh Vienna is amazing. It’s also one of the best reachable cities by train. Both Rome, Paris and Amsterdam are only one sleeper train away
If it makes you happy and comfortable, take a chance Lucy.
I'd only suggest installing a small projector and a white screen in the sleeping area. Otherwise it's a nice cozy place!
I've been there twice, it's really nice indeed!
Go for it, Vienna is amazing. Although there are problems with Muslim-background immigrants, it is still a great city, and you can find great apartments there. Easy to go biking, not a problem to go to the Alps, etc. And they speak English there, even in the corner shop. Go for it and don't look back!
Whilst you are young, do what makes you happy 💯
I can see that you could do your editing anywhere in the world nowadays, but what about filming which I assume is still your job? You would be back and forth to the UK all the time surely. That would be exhausting, not to mention expensive! It's a lovely idea living in Vienna. I'd also love to live there, but I can't carry out my job remotely unfortunately.
Vienna is the only other city we'd live in, and we also visit it multiple times a year. Good choice for sure!
Live whereever makes you happy Lucy Brown, you can work virtually from home wherever that happens to be :)
We stayed at the Zoku in Copenhagen and had a really really great time !
We also stayed in Zoku in Vienna, it was great!
love the vlogs lucy! just get the vids over 10 mins. the youtube algorithm will reward you.
Yes. Vienna seems incredibly moderne and chill.
Oooh, you're in my hometown. It's a pretty chill city with a wide variety of culture & food. You should see Central Library on Burggasse next time too, it's a really interesting building structure too.
We've got a lot delays in construction due to COVID, hence the amount of noise & construction projects you see in the city currently.
Loved the video! ♥
There's always construction going on in vienna. That's just how it is in every other city too. And during summer one notices it more (and due to concrete needing positive temps to cure, more consctruction is done during the warmer months.)
I mean you surely remember the STS song Fürstenfeld. It's over 40 years old and even back then they sang:
"nix als Baustellen, daß ka Mensch wos find..."
Greatings from Vienna :) 🍻
I love Viennaand try to go at least twice a year. So many other places are so accessible from there. Living in another country is so liberating and mind expanding, especially if you learn the language. Just remember to be either a visitor or an immigrant - don't fall into the English exceptionalism of being an 'expat'. I have lived in Germany, Israel, Lebanon and now reside in Spain. If asked I describe myself as a Brexit refugee. Wh
