Not Giving Up | 2020 Extreme Mustang Makeover | Day 50

I am trying to train Lady in order to give her the skills she needs to have a chance in the world, a chance at finding a home. She is extremely reactive, anxious, and kicks into survival mode frequently. I started by allowing her to get used to me. Eventually she had to learn to face her fears, because her constant panic attacks were causing her to repetitively injure herself even if we were nowhere around. This was hard for her and she took it out on me. It would be easy to give up on her, but I care too much about her, so I will continue to fight for her, her future, and I will continue to fight to give her a chance. She may not yet understand, but everyone deserves to be given a chance.

The mustang makeover is halfway over... so many of the trainers are making incredible progress and doing incredible things with their mustangs... but it has been a very slow process for me and Lady. We still have so very far to go, but I am very happy with how far she has come. I put this montage together to illustrate that! I compiled some of our tougher moments, we've both made mistakes, but we've learned a lot. Lady has gotten braver and is finally coming out of her shell.
