  • George Pocock believed that anyone who had the desire to row should have the opportunity to participate in the sport and pursue excellence at the highest level. Today, the George Pocock Rowing Foundation continues the work he began and upholds his ideals with their vision: “Everyone has the opportunity to row and strive for excellence on the water.”
Through building and supporting rowing programs and facilities, the Pocock Foundation promotes access to rowing, excellence in rowing, and uses rowing as a means to foster physical activity, health, leadership, and community engagement.

I walked on uw in 80's had no idea how to row and made it to third boat over my three years. Something to think what any of kids in these picts, or teens could do with a 6 year head start. Stan was there helping us 'lower boats' keep going when top boats were in racing Season, and even though he was coach half the year (I only remember a big red jacket white haired fellow in a boat following our boats giving good pointers to be honest) he remembered me 20 years later when I saw him at a boat race, me just a cog!
