Gosh, these SDI devices are high maintenance, aren’t they?
This series was SO helpful, thanks CVP team! Back to waiting for mine to ship....
best series on komodo ever❤ would like a video on a proper cine rig on the komodo or any other camers with fiz and wireless monitoring units as these are not professional high level rigs. would love to see those types of videos from u guys😊
also i saw u guys have those tribe7 blackwing7 cine lens on ur last video. would love a video on those..?
thank you for the information and the great video❤
really helpful series, thank you CVP!
Amazing videos!!!! It is a massive help in rigging out my Komodo.. Thanks :)
You folks are unstoppable
Great video as always CVP, love the detailed review videos you guys have been doing. Love the background song to this video as well! Have a link to the song?
Yes on the Port keys video overview! :)
Definitely interested in that portkey, would love to see a video showing the workflow
According to RED, the power state (on/off) of camera and the powered device does not matter. Just make sure to connect the power source (batteries and/or d-tap) prior to connecting SDI. To me this makes sense… it’s a grounding issue and ground is established when battery or batteries are attached.
Excellent video from CVP, as always. One thing to note, even though it isn't advertised much, the SmallHD 702 Touch also has camera control capabilities like the Cine 7 and the Indie 7. It sits between the two in price and specs. (The same control kit works with all three.)
wish you guys had actually reviewed the Anton Bauer v-mount plate...
Still waiting for an in-depth comparison between the KOMODO global shutter and the new Sony Alpha 1 BIONZ XR rolling shutter, perhaps at 1/8000th shutter? Thanks CVP!
Excellent vid as always.
Do you know if the Portkeys BM5 III WR will have a compatible control cable for the Komodo if I don't want to rely solely on the wireless connection?
You mentioned a compatible cable will be announced for the BM5 III so I assume it will also work with the BM5 III WR then...
If you shoot fight scenes what build would you recommend? Needs to be lightweight, and easy to grip from awkward angles. Small monitor ect. Own a movi pro as well.
What needed being the power source you went with? Wooden? Thank you!
cannot even afford komodo, but this 3 series videos are so interesting, couldn't not watch them
How is a bigger Cfast card more reliable than the lower capacity? Just curious
Part III
Does the tentacle just synch or does it record too ? Will it work with zoom f6? Also ..what are the benefits of the red komodo expander module? Does it improve sound quality ?
Are the sandisk cfast cards reliable?
I have a Portkeys BM5 mark 3. What cable do I need to control the Komodo through the screen?
What's that EVF Mount set up you have there?
Do you happen to have a good recommandation for high quality SDI cable ?
I really don't wanna cheap out on this cable considering the risk of dammaging the sdi port on the camera...
Thank you very much in advance :)
Thank you a lot! So, I am from Denmark and did'n't understand everything,- the sound section: what would I need to get real good sound on the Komodo, using a boom mike directly connected to the camera? Would a Wooden XLR box, not do the job? (using battery in the mike)
What is the NATO Rail System with 15mm Rod mounts, handle and monitor mount you have on the RED at 4:51in the video? Great content CVP team, keep up the great work!
Bright Tangerine Expert Kit for Red Komodo (B4002.0012) + 8Sinn cold shoe mount (8-MH-COLD-SM)
@@dannyj1997 Thanks so much for the heads up!
Dose Any one know is the L4KGI01 galvanic isolator really works? Can you ignore all steps? Prevent some one on set fat fingers the camera sdi.
My dream komodo rig would be komodo with the outrigger handle and the wooden camera cage rig or the bright tangerine cage rig with the kippertie revolva with the tribe7 blackwing7 or the tokina vista prime lens on it and the teradek rt fiz system and the bright tangerine misfit kick matte box and a smallhd 503 or 703 or the cine 7 and at the back a bp battery and the wooden camera b box and the wooden camera battery swing with the battery plate and the c box and the vaxis storm 3000 pass through version or the teradek bolt 4k on rods because then i can can go from an minimal rig to a full on cine rig very easily.
yeah thats a big dream for a 13 year old but,
dream until u achive it.
if u read this i would be very happy and if u have any suggestions or thoughts let me know❤
also i saw u guys have those tribe7 blackwing7 cine lens on ur last video. would love a video on those..?
Miss-information on the Track-E, I haven't found a bracket option for this - only for the Sync-E (which is what you show in the video)
I wasn't specific about what the bracket was for, but it's quite obvious that it's for mounting the Sync E to your camera and then you have the Track E of camera. Would need to check if the bracket fits the Track aswell. Jake
@@CVPTV Track-E doesn’t fit in the same bracket unfortunately. I use one just clipped on to the shade of my Ninja V. Allows me to run a camera mic to the track-e for 32bit audio, then out to the ninja. Works great, but would be nicer to have a bracket to mount onto a camera cage.
Great series on the Komodo btw.
Thanks for your excellent informative videos!
The SDI stuff is a pain.
Are we able to use rule of 3rds on komodo as a guide? Because I have tried to look for it and it has been endless.
I have tried to look too and can't find anything in the menus for it. Drop RED an email or post on one of their forums making a request for it! Jake
@@CVPTV I will definitely reach out to them. Thanks
Is this "protecting the SDI" for real? Not being able to hotswapping while under time pressure sounds insane!! I cant start pulling cables when everybody is waiting. wtf??
Google “ARRI/RED Protecting SDI”.
@@CVPTV i know that it's sdi in general and not red specific but i've heard tons of issues with komods and have never seen a dp fumble on the sdi ports before swapping a battery on an alexa 🤷♂️
These are best practices, of course some people aren’t going to follow them, especially if it’s a rental camera. The reason we included this is because the KOMODOs 12-G SDI is more susceptible to issues in comparison to better shielded ports like the ones on Alexa and even the V-RAPTOR now. Jake
you lost me with the cable protocol. what's the bp-something cable?? thought we're just dealing with an SDI cable?
SDI cables use BNC connectors. SDI is the signal format. Jake
Is there any scientific evidence to suggest larger capacity cards are more reliable? Why would that even be the case?
Jesus Christ, nobody who puts cards with tape on them IN the camera is qualified to talk about accessories
Was a mistake and a comment I thought would be worth including as there are plenty of people who may make the same and who also put branding stickers on cards which could result in the same.
