    Wow, especially good video and, given your high standard, that's saying something. Seems many classical composers throw the tenor into the passaggio and leave him there to sink or swim, so this is important information. PS. you are the only teacher I've ever heard talk about yodeling. Very glad you are on UA-cam.

Semi-retired right now but still teaching quite a few talented students right now. I have one baritone age 17 with a gorgeous voice but a huge break between chest and head. I've tried tons of things to lighten this ... still searching for more answers and solving this with him.

    Couple of questions. First, you talk about chest vs head voice. I took classical voice when I was growing up (circa 1980s), and those weren’t terms that were used. I’ve watched a number of videos, and figured out chest is what we called full voice. However, there seems to be a lot of disagreement on head vs falsetto, with some labeling them as the same while others describe falsetto as that weak or breathy head voice you talk about. The terms I was taught were falsetto and power falsetto, but falsetto was just normal soprano range singing. Power falsetto was how I could belt out Pat Benatar. As a 1st soprano it was well within my range, but not at full voice. Normal falsetto isn’t the right tone or style. So, can you clarify the terms used now in relation to that? 2nd question, in relation to not sounding like it’s 2 different voices, how do you blend in a song that starts in your chest range and then jumps an octave into your head range? There’s no blending through the pallagio because it jumps over it, so it jumps from one range to another. If you jump straight from chest to head (what I would call full voice to falsetto or power falsetto depending on the style) how do you make it sound natural?

    Nowt wrong with scales. I like them. 👍

  • @mradaChris
    @mradaChris 2 роки тому

    On the descending or ascending 5 tone I can't detect any blending. It just seems to be a part of my voice. I have a lot of overlap in my voice. Chest and Head. Now I did feel my soft palate raise on the higher notes. Do you have a warm up video? Enjoyed this of course!

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 роки тому

      No, I do not have a generic warm-up video because every voice needs something different. That is why I created my audio exercise training program.

  • @Bottomless.Coffee
    @Bottomless.Coffee 2 роки тому +2

    For men, is there a first bridge and second bridge? For me, as a male, G4 is where I used to "crack." I managed to smoothen this area after much practice. I'm now able to bring my "mixed" voice up to A#4. This area is more difficult for me as I tend to experience a crack if I don't maintain a good posture and breathe with perfect support. Wondering if A4-B4 can also be a second bridge for men.

    Dear Victoria, why do you use consonants in the scales rather than just vowels?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  6 місяців тому

      I use both - it depends on the exercise. Certain consonants help with cord closure, clarity, and boost the tone. In my vowel videos, I do not use consonants. This is a bit frustrating for me because too many of you are teaching how to erase or smooth out the break, and there’s not enough people teaching how to actually sing with an intentional break. That’s a very popular stylistic technique, but for some reason that’s not taught on UA-cam… Why is that? Some of us already know how to smooth out the break or even sing with mixed voice… But we have no idea how to have that intentional bump in our voice where we go from thick to thin in an obvious way. It’s very disheartening.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  Рік тому

      Your solution is simple. Just type in your words and do a search here in UA-cam. I just did and found lots of videos on how to sing with a break or flip! Just so you know, far more people are really troubled and very discouraged by a break and really need the help that I and many teachers provide.
