Melaka or Malacca, Malaysia is the perfect place for a weekend getaway from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. It has delicious food, vibrant street markets, lots of hotel options, and fun things to do. We spent 3 nights here on our slow travels through South East Asia. The prices were reasonable and we loved the energy of the city. Have fun in KL! I took the bus from Singapore to KL with no issues, but didn't stop in Malacca. I guess it is just a reason to go back! I don't know if you are into diving, but the Pulau Redang island is nice for that and beaches if you have extra time!
