Lovely voice, sung beautifully, Elvis sang it as well and did a fantastic job.
Best Female Vocal Ever !
Give a listen to, Timi Yuro, live, "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Or.
"Cutting In,"Timi Yuro. This is why she has been called the woman with the Blue eyed soul.
Timi was not recognized as she should have been, pure talent, I love both her version and Elvis' version, powerful tear jerker and very emotional!!!
Please no one try to imitate this song only timi can sing it wow great voice so powerful
One of the best voices I've ever heard.
If Timi had had a decent promoter she would have been far more successful. Our loss. Such beautiful and talented singer.
Just Great, the real deal,
Diana Ross loved her voice. When Diana and Timi would get together she would called her sis. What a great voice she had. You got to hear her sing What's A Matter Baby.
Thank you Harri. I have had this song on my list for ages. So glad that you liked it.
Elvis covered "Hurt" very soon after it was on the charts. I'd actually heard Elvis' version before the original.
Thank you Cynthia ❤ What a beautifull way to end the month 🤩💖🌟
Have never heard this song, not even by Elvis???
This will go into my playlist 🥰👍🙏💝
And Thank you Harri, good to see, that there are still surprises out there
@@agnetesorensenelbom5085 Thank you Agnete. 💜
I love her and also have requested her
When Timi Yuro was in the recording studio, the engineer would have her in one room and the microphone in another room.
Wow, I haven’t heard this in decades, what a blast from the past, slingshotting me right back to another lifetime. Amazing.
She had a hit with "What's a Matter Baby (Is It Hurting You)" in 1963.
Another great song. There's a fantastic version of '... Baby' by Ellen Foley who is the female voice on 'Paradise By The Dashboard Light' by Meatloaf (although the video features Karla DeVito miming.
Thank You, my favorite song of all time....She was so amazing...She must be related to Connie Frances...Both supergifted..
Connie Francis???????
What do you mean?? Mind your own business.
Another wonderful selection Cynthia. I first heard Timi when my college girlfriend played it on her college radio program. She was one of the few girls I ever dated who actually collected records. Ultimately, I was more interested in her album collection than her. LOL. She's actually a jazz singer these days. In a trio with her pianist husband. Hearing Timi reminded me of our days together way back when. Thanks Cynthia & Harri.
Thank you John I still have a record collection some 45s but mostly the LPs. ✌️
Boomer here and I haven't heard this song in decades. That was wonderful 😍! You should check out Brenda Lee's "Sorry". She was only a teenager! Thankyou Harri and Cynthia for playing this forgotten oldie 💕.
You are welcome Collette.
There you go Colette: ua-cam.com/video/SKqRmAM05Uw/v-deo.htmlsi=XZHc6I2Tjiz01epA 😊
Like a supercharged blend of Ella Fitzgerald & Etta James
I own two original vinyl albums by her. Incredible voice. Listen to Whatsa Matter Baby, so great!
The most bad-ass don't-you-regret-leaving-me song ever!
I have loved this song for ever. She is the best.
I love her she was the greatest ever
Also, she’s tiny, like 4’8” and little bitty. Huge voice.
Like Brenda Lee ❤
"The Wayward Wind" sung by Gogi Grant was No. 1 on the charts in 1956 for 7 weeks. Sounds like something you should hear.
So glad to finally see someone reacting to this song and this lady!
Can’t argue with that. Try also the Northern Soul classic by Timi It’ll Never Be Over For Me and my personal favourite of hers Hey Boy! Timeless quality
You like this one....try What's a Matter Baby. So incredible!
Legendary singer
I remember this song and this voice from my childhood, but I never knew who sang it. Timi Yuro is a name that is totally unfamiliar to me. What a fabulous voice!
Thank you, Cynthia. Timi Yuro deserves more acclaim! This rendition is my favorite.
Glad you liked it Bill.
Quebella cancion Harri besos y abrazos para ti
Although I was born in the early fifties I had never heard of her here in NZ. Then about ten years ago when I went mad on Fifties and Sixties girl groups for a while. I found this number in many collections. Such power and emotion! I was very impressed.
As someone else said What's A Matter Baby is worth a listen as well as You Can Have Him, her duet with Willie Nelson - Did I Ever Love You, Interlude & her live version of You've Lost That Loving Feeling
I remember when this came out !! I'm 75 years young. Loved it. Thanks for playing it and your great reaction.
I’m more of a rock guy but talent is talent. Respect 🤘🏼
I loved her back then and still do. Timi remains one of the great voices we ever had. Quincy Jones produced one of her albums and it's indeed a masterpiece. I have over the years introduced younger folks to Timi and they were amazed
I haven't heard this in decades!!!! Wow! Excellent!
My list of greatest female singers over my 79 years - TIMI YURO, Jo Stafford, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Connie Francis, Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, Karen Carpenter, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion (I'm sure I missed a couple).
Yep I missed Patti LaBelle and Laura Nyro.
and Gladys Knight
Great list but you sure did miss a few.
@@murph3001 Well it was MY list of the Best of the Best over my 75+ years. I included 14 names, but so many more are great and are borderline be included, so , yeah, I'm sure I missed a few that others would include on their list..
She has the same voice qualities as Brenda Lee.
Nice choice Cynthia. This woman’s voice is impressive. Like Harri, I had never heard of her before but she certainly has my attention now! Thanks Harri and Cynthia 🌺✌️
You are welcome Debbie.
I first heard Timi only five years ago and like you I was taken aback. She is simply brilliant.
She is considered to be one of the first blue-eyed soul stylists of the rock era in the 60's. She was a contralto so could go deep, almost in a masculine voice & used the occasional sob in her songs. "Hurt" was her biggest hits but some other songs are "What's A Matter Baby", "Smile", "The Love Of A Boy", "Make The world Go Away", "Permanently Lonely", "I'm Movin' On" "Let Me Call You Sweetheart", "I Apologize" etc.
Another big hit of hers was 'The Big Hurt'. Incredible. Also Brenda Lee 'All Alone Am I'.
@@stj971 "The Big Hurt" was a hit for Toni Fisher in 1959.
LOVE IT!
Thanks, Cynthia, for introducing Harri to Timi Yuro. Harri, your reaction is the same as mine was in 1962. This is such a great song and singer. Harri, like many of your other subscribers here, I'd like to add my vote for you to react to one of Timi's other songs, "What's a matter, baby." You won't be disappointed!
Glad you liked it.
Muy hermoso recuerdo gracias Harry un abrazo desde Chile ❤
You should try Kitty Lester ( Love Letters )
[deepfriedscotsman2860] No, no!! NOT Kitty Lester!! Try Ketty Lester or maybe you know that and just miss-typed it.
Linda voz ! Não conhecia essa cantora , você poderia reagir a música ONE MORE TIME dos Carpinteiros . Beto - Brasília - df 👍💞
Cynthia, every one of your submissions this month has been awesome. I have never heard of Timi Yuro until now, and that certainly has been my loss. Time to check her out thoroughly. Her vocals are top-tier! Extremely well done Cynthia and Harri. 👏👏
I missed this for some reason. Thank you MrB I am glad that you liked it.
Her recovery song was "What's the Matter Baby" which might be cool for you to react to as well!!
Somewhere in my attic there is a 78 of Timi and Johnnie Ray singing duets together and they are doing that "cry" thing they are known for!
I was 12 when I first heard her sing. It changed my life. From time to time I hear her singing on the radio... I am 12 again and...
Thank you for introducing us to Ms. Yuro. I have not knowingly heard her music previously.
I remember when this was out. It got a lot of airplay. Her voice reminds me of some of the jazz singers from the '30s and '40s.
one hit wonder from Chicago
Timi was a northern soul singer from Chicago then from LA. I loved her when I was in junior high.
Harri, like you, I have never heard of her but I will start diving into her catalog right away. Thanks for the introduction.
Sadly no longer with us, Cancer robbed her her voice before she eventually passed away
There's a live version of this from about 1981 in either Gernany or the Netherlands ( I'm not sure which) I'd recommend people check it out
Hi Harri - i'm old enough to remember when this song first came out! I don't think she was all that well-known in the music industry but I do remember this particular song and how great her voice was . Very powerful , very distinctive! Thanks for the memory !
Definitive.
This was the first version I heard. So dramatic!! But I found out later it's not the first recorded version. That honour is Roy Hamilton's in 1954 ua-cam.com/video/tz88jtE17oY/v-deo.html
If you liked "Hurt", Take a listen to "What's a Matter Baby".
what's odd is that it's a slow dancing song and people danced on that.i mean the music is perfect for slow dancing, but lyrics. Then again slow dancing requires slow moods
Elvis does a great version of this song. One of my favorites.
Roy Hamilton did it in the 50s before Timi. Elvis modeled much of his vocal after Roy Hamilton.
Here is the original version of "Hurt," by Roy Hamilton. Yes, it is terrific. ua-cam.com/video/tz88jtE17oY/v-deo.html
Nearly as good as Marty Robbins version
Well, she's loud. Meh.
