Have you heard about Scopolamine? It's the drug that some robbers, scam artists, and prostitutes in Medellin use on their victims to render them incapacitated. Some say it's urban folklore - like waking up in a bathtub full of ice with your kidneys removed. However, we've heard several accounts from foreigners who have fallen victim to the drug. They claim to have lost their ability to control their actions, emptied their bank accounts, given away their possessions, and taken advantage of.
In this segment from Sammy's episode, Andrew Macia, Joel Duncan, and Sammy recount some of the stories we've heard over the years living here in Medellin. The fact is, the drug is real and people use it to prey on unsuspecting victims - Not only in Medellin or Colombia.
Knowledge is power people! Being aware that Scopolamine does exist, and it can leave you unconscious is half the battle.

Yo I consider myself VERY fortunate. I visited Medellin from the US for the first time, back in early March for 5 days. All I wanted to do was experience the wild night life of it....and did so (including the hookups). I looked up these stories before getting there, but still didn't have all of my wits about myself. Thankfully nothing happened to me like what these guys are discussing. I was doing everything in Medellin by myself without anyone accompanying me. In my foolishness, God had me covered, but that doesn't mean I will continue to take His covering for granted. Even after my visit there, I've learned a lot from you guys. Thank you for sharing.
I have been watching these videos today for the first time about this drug. This has me rethinking coming to Colombia. You can’t even be careful enough to avoid this from happening to you.
@ Malcolm Hester, you're missing the point of the message - to educate travellers so you wouldnt easily fall to such shenanigans. Wicked people are everywhere but you shouldn't let that force you to live in a bubble. Life is short, travel the world and have some fun. Best luck to you.

@@Alex-rp2tr I went from March 9-16. Let me tell you. I was the best week I have had in years. Not one single issue. It was amazing. The people were soooo warm and open to talking. The tours were great. The night life was the BOMB. I’m going back in May no lie lol 😂
Just don't hang out with whores/hookers and you'll be just fine in Colombia
I have heard of several sad stories regarding this drug. Every one has to be very careful when going out. Best to go out with people you know and trust.
This is much more common than many people realize, and unfortunately all those UA-cam bloggers telling you how great it is to go to Colombia and score with a chick are conveniently leaving this out. I just came back from Medellín last week having travelled their alone. I'm a foreigner and100% fluent in Spanish. I was told by three different employees of the hotel where I stayed (5 star hotel by the way) to avoid walking alone in Parque Lleras, since there have been many cases of foreigners being drugged or assaulted there. There have been cases of foreigners in clubs who are drugged with scopolamine. It's either dropped into their drink when they're distracted or blown into their face by the woman they're having a drink with. What makes it extremely dangerous is that women will administer a dose of the drug not knowing what is potentially lethal. The guy literally turns into a zombie and will do anything asked of him. If you're lucky they only rob you, worst case scenario is that you die. In fact, an employee of the hotel told me that a few weeks earlier one of the guest returned to the hotel very dizzy. He collapsed on the floor of the lobby and paramedics had to come. They found traces of it on his clothes and face. I also heard from another UA-camr that 2 foreigners were found dead in their hotel rooms from a scopolamine overdose. The way I see it, if you have to worry about shit like that it's better to go to another country. I guess a lot of horny travellers don't like to talk about it or just dismiss it as overblown, but when the locals start telling you how bad it is you need to sit up and listen. I personally have no desire to return to Colombia, but I don't regret going. If you still decide to go, think with your big head and not your dick. Never invite a girl back to your room, and don't take your eyes off your drink for a second.
Going out with a small amount of cash and leaving your bank cards etc in the safe wherever you're staying is another way to avoid having your account cleaned out.
I wouldn't generalise too much, just because 3 people working at the same hotel told you something. I lived in Medellín for almost 5 years and never had issues with anyone. Some people just have an 'easy target' sign on their forehead. I live in the south of Spain now and it's probably the safest place I've ever lived. That doesn't stop female tourists from getting robbed when they're out drinking and not paying attention to their surroundings. As I say, easy targets.

This is why I stopped going to Columbia. Every time I one t something drastic happened. Either my friends were robbed, or some type of scam was run. It's a beautiful country but there are much SAFER places where you don't have to worry about stuff like this.
Shit I'm having second thoughts about going to colombia. I been to Tijuana, mazatlan, even to war zone michoacan and never had an issue. But this shit sounds scary 😨
Honestly it isn't that bad. These are like buyer beware videos. It isn't that you go out and every woman is trying to drug you. The thing is that in the majority of cases here, if it seems too good to be true (too easy) it probably is. For example matching with a girl on tinder and then on the first date she's coming to your house for drinks....probably too easy.
And if you like Mexico, you'll probably like Colombia also.
It looks beautiful there and I’m sure 99.9% of the people are wonderful kind people but it’s not worth the risk to me.I used to travel more but now I’m very careful where I vacation and I take very little chances. I have heard too many bad stories and I have had a few close ones when I was younger in Mexico. Bad people unfortunately have the advantage and you could easily lose more than just money. Take care and remember that nothing good happens when you are out late and into the morning even when you are back home.
Life’s a gamble period my friend,tourist have died from bad alcohol in DR and Carbon monoxide poisoning in Mexico and Bahamas,when it’s your time hold on for the ride 😂

In this context, a more fitting word to use instead of "nice" is "friendly." Nice people can't help being nice but you should be suspicious of those, especially strangers, who are being too friendly.

It's unfortunate that this happens to men in Colombia but it is very preventable by using the big head and not the little one. I spent a week in Medellin and loved it there. This scopolamine thing has been happening for years and I'm not sure how guys get caught up in this with internet access being universal. Granted probably some cases the girl was just too good at her criminality craft that the guys didn't even notice anything out of place. It's simple as these next steps: 1. Don't display wealth especially if you are an obvious foreigner. 2. Meet girls off Tinder in public and feel them out. If something feels off then it probably is so abandon ship. 3.Always watch your drink and if you forget and leave it it unattaneded just buy a new one . 4. Don't invite women straight to your place or meet her at her place or whatever private residence. 5.If she asks to bring a friend don't agree as that is her partner in crime to drug and rob you. 6. If you're out drinking don't become visibly drunk and make yourself look like an easy target. The problem is that too many foreign guys are thirsty AF to hook up with a fine Colombiana that they let their guard down and end up victims. To the ones who parished from this crime RIP. For all of you thinking of going to Colombia definitely go because the country is amazing. Just be smart and never let your guard down and you'll be just fine there.

Yeah this doesn't seem very believable. Does anyone have a story of someone that got scoped that wasn't already drinking alcohol. I've been watching a lot of these videos and they're all like, well, I was drinking and then... 2 days later. Now this guy gets tit scoped? I don't know, what did he drink right before that happened??
According to Wikipedia, unofficial estimates are 50,000 per year in Colombia. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopolamine They also mention food can be laced with Scopolamine, which I haven't seen on UA-cam. Anyone have a reputable source that thinks they got scoped by eating something?
Also in the Wikipedia article, transdermal application of Scopolamine does not provide toxic dosages. The patches need to be worn for hours to be effective and they're at a much lower dose. Transdermally, a powder would not provide that high of a dose. HOWEVER, that does mean a girl could potentially apply Scopolamine cream or powder to her body and then the guy licks it off and gets scoped.

It probably take longer but it finally go thru your skin.

I've taken tropane alkaloids for many years as well as pure scopolamine before. (Great muscle relaxant, euphoric sedative, and pain reliever) "in the right dose!"
I just don't see it being pure scopolamine, maybe something mixed with it.
Sure blow it in someone's face all that will do is blind them for a few days, the business card thing is cap cause they would need to be holding the card against their skin for hours for any effect. They would have some memory of the worst dry mouth they ever felt.
In no way am I saying the stories are faked but someone should get samples and test for what other drugs are in it.
