Even for people who feel generally fine in life, I think therapy is pretty much always a good idea. Granted you find a therapist that “speaks your language”. I was in therapy about 8 years ago, and it still affects my life in a lot of positive ways.
I think one of the things that rarely gets highlighted is just how damn wholesome and family centric Rhett and Link are. From not wanting to raise spoiled kids, to finding the smallest connection points with their kids, and wanting to give their kids kids opportunity without giving them affluence, they remind me so much of my parents. Working hard to give us a good life without degrading our work ethic. That is honestly so relatable for most Americans, and I think it's part of why they have such a huge viewership, because people can just feel it.
For most *people*. My family are Australian and British (and Im only bringing nationality up because you did!) and we relate just as much/feel exactly how you do. Its just so weird to me how Americans like to separate themselves from the rest of the world, like we are all people dude lol.

I remember one of the longest breaks I ever took from GMM was during that multiple videos a day just clogging up my relatively small feed. Interesting to hear their side of the story on that one.
They always ask Who are Rhett and Link but they never ask How are Rhett and Link. But seriously this was gloryous, I recently became a GMM fan and binged their content backwards, EB, BS, BOM, LTAT, etc. Absolute legends
I also love the questions you asked them. It's nice to see them so real and vulnerable (in a good way). It almost sounds like they're having a couples therapy session here. They probably learned new things about each other, just as we learned a lot about them today.
Wow, I loved where this episode went, I might like it more than the last one now, and I've listened to that one multiple times since it aired. I love when they talk to you Phil you bring out stuff they don't or won't talk about on their own and it's great to listen to and learn more about them!
Three of my favorite internet peoples all in one place and being awesome. Now we just need a round table with Hank and John Green added to this crew and I think we might have enough "though density" to create a black hole.
Phil...why didn’t you tell me your podcasts were so good. I am such a fan of Rhett and Link, and to see them touch on some real subject matter really made me like them so much more. Well done Phil and team.
It's such a treat to watch Phil ask an intimate question and then just sit back and enjoy how the answer plays out. That's usually my role at parties, sometimes I'll excuse myself and then come back an hour later and it's fun to see where the conversation has progressed from where it started.
Random thought . . . has Link ever full on dressed up and done an impression of Garth from Wayne's World? Because if he hasn't I really need that. If he has, can someone send me a link?
YES i too thought it would be such a great movie, series, whatever. imagine it as an hbo series.. (i say hbo bc it's so clearly adult type content whereas netflix could be anything and i see it as a real life, adult drama, not a PG version or funny version, although it could have humor too, but real life isn't comedic you know what i mean)
The jump from deciding we want to go to therapy and actually doing it is incredibly difficult for my wife and I. We know how beneficial It could be but keep hitting a wall both with how expensive it is and how personal and scary trusting in a stanger with your deepest issues can be. I really hope we can make it happen eventually. Thanks for the great interview.
I don’t know what it is, but I just deeply enjoy listening to the two of them talk to eachother. I love how candid and honest this whole conversation was. It’s so funny to see them basically crafting sentences together. So many times, they would both start sentences until there is a complete thought and it is kind of insane to watch.
It's so fun hearing certain, memorable episodes be brought up by Rhett and Link. It shows that they actually read and listen to their fans' criticism. I remember the ep where they had to compliment each other and the mess in the comments and tumblr. Fans were really pissed at Rhett. I was frustrated with him but not to their extent. It's good to know that Link was just pretending to be hurt, hahaha. Now I wonder if he was faking being hurt from the "a gorilla can do your job" comment in one of the earlier seasons.
Personally , as far as money goes I am in the same pit as link. if i anything over $50 i have this dread all day /week about what happens if i cant stretch the remaining money to my next paycheck. its horrible and feels like my soul is drained from my body . if i think about getting something for me for fun , its a process where i constantly ask myself if it is a good idea to buy it , then i have been known to put something back even if im almost to the checkout. just because i can't justify it .
A bit annoyed with Rhett, their UA-cam show has more reach then any current traditional family show. I could understand if they wanted to make something in Netflix or other institution where would allow then to control their show. But to join traditional TV and have the suits changing all of his ideas into their idea of what is right??? There is a reason of why all new talent that makes it before going into traditional TV never joins it.
The best thing about Rhett and Link is my perception of who is the most grounded and who is I identify with most (as a North Carolinian of approx. their age) changes constantly. Link was making some really striking points about raising his kids, but Rhett is so easy to identify with given his personality.
I'm the same as Link - if you didn't grab my attention first, you're just talking to yourself and will have to repeat everything once you get my attention away from whatever I'm actually focused on 😁 Definitely a positive - hyper focus on important tasks 👍

I started crying when Rhett started talking about crying at random things like commercials... I wanna have a crying session with these guys lol I feel like it would be so fun and awkward.
48:03 is so true and this is definitely something i lack. I feel like if i bring up things one too many times my friends are just gonna say "you're too sensitive/easily offended/problem causing" and then they'd leave.
Hmm seems like Rhett has to ask his therapist about "imposter syndrome", particularly when he talks about trying to break into traditional media. Also, as someone who works in film/TV, you can be kind and still be firm and unyielding in your Vision; you just have to take your ego out it. I am 10000x more likely to go out of my way for other departments and defer to their wants when they're good people; when they're assholes, not so much.
I would watch any kind of TV series Rhett and Link made. They, like Phil, have an honesty and authenticity that a lot of other people lack. I trust them, Phil included, and that means so much. Especially in today's world, where it's really, really hard not to want to just give up.
I continue to love Rhett and Link and all forms of their content. Over the years they have really blossomed and opened up and it’s so refreshing for people on this platform (Phil included) to be so honest.
I think Rhett & Link should produce a film about 2 lifelong friends who move out to LA to become content creators and their journey to success. I'd love to see a movie like that
Oooooo that last question. Damn Link, you got me. 😮😮😮

But seriously this was gloryous, I recently became a GMM fan and binged their content backwards, EB, BS, BOM, LTAT, etc. Absolute legends
I found them in November and I have binged everything too.
I really respect their friendship, even more so after watching this. I think everyone strives for a friend like Rhett & Link.
I miss these
41:50 I love how Rhett's expression changes when he hears Link say, "But we'll never fool each other."
I love when they talk to you Phil you bring out stuff they don't or won't talk about on their own and it's great to listen to and learn more about them!
...Rhett is making me think I need therapy too. Everything he said about his emotions is what I experience too. Even his fears are the same as mine.
Therapy is more accessible than ever. It won't hurt one bit to give it a try. :)
Check out Open Path Psychotherapy Collective!!!
Three of my favorite internet peoples all in one place and being awesome. Now we just need a round table with Hank and John Green added to this crew and I think we might have enough "though density" to create a black hole.
please don't leave it a year to do this again, terrific conversation!
I love out of the gate, we’re talking about therapy. More now than ever, I cannot support this enough
Phil...why didn’t you tell me your podcasts were so good. I am such a fan of Rhett and Link, and to see them touch on some real subject matter really made me like them so much more. Well done Phil and team.
Backlog for days!
You gotta watch/listen to R&L’s podcast Ear Biscuits
@@mbc-92 will do, thanks.
It's such a treat to watch Phil ask an intimate question and then just sit back and enjoy how the answer plays out. That's usually my role at parties, sometimes I'll excuse myself and then come back an hour later and it's fun to see where the conversation has progressed from where it started.
That's me in a nutshell 😂
Philip is giving me Steve Buscemi in 30 Rock vibes
My three favorite UA-camrs having a conversation? YES PLEASE
Me at the start of the conversation: 👶
Me when Rhett and Link mention how old their kids are now: 👵
This feels like an intimate more :D
Random thought . . . has Link ever full on dressed up and done an impression of Garth from Wayne's World? Because if he hasn't I really need that. If he has, can someone send me a link?
I would LOVE a movie about that deconstruction in a more narrative story telling / movie or book format.
Look around. I pay $40 dollars a session, without insurance. It can be cheaper than you’d think!
@@harrietbowles1153 now that I could do! I will def be shopping around, thanks.
@E. Wildermxxn thank you!
I used to watch GMM a few years ago and it's crazy seeing them now. I'm shocked at how little they interrupt one another now.
Personally , as far as money goes I am in the same pit as link. if i anything over $50 i have this dread all day /week about what happens if i cant stretch the remaining money to my next paycheck. its horrible and feels like my soul is drained from my body .
if i think about getting something for me for fun , its a process where i constantly ask myself if it is a good idea to buy it , then i have been known to put something back even if im almost to the checkout. just because i can't justify it .
when I watch Rhett and Link talk about each other and just look at each other i'm like damn, I need me people like that
I’ve seen a lot of ppl talk crap about these two but i really enjoyed this.
I like this real talk. not random challenges or tasks.
but thats just imo
How these make a comeback now after the pandemic.
A bit annoyed with Rhett, their UA-cam show has more reach then any current traditional family show. I could understand if they wanted to make something in Netflix or other institution where would allow then to control their show. But to join traditional TV and have the suits changing all of his ideas into their idea of what is right??? There is a reason of why all new talent that makes it before going into traditional TV never joins it.
another project phil has left to die
I really enjoyed this episode! It was so refreshing to listen to a group of adults in my age-group have a mature conversation so openly & vulnerably.
Rhett’s forgotten approximately three Ear Biscuits episodes from the past year when he says he hasn’t cried with Link lately
And I remember Rhett got very teary eyed when they spoke about their friend Ben and his regrets on how he handled the situation.
exactly what i was thinking
"Hopefully we can make these a yearly thing" and we never got another conversation again.
The best thing about Rhett and Link is my perception of who is the most grounded and who is I identify with most (as a North Carolinian of approx. their age) changes constantly. Link was making some really striking points about raising his kids, but Rhett is so easy to identify with given his personality.
can't get over how strange it is to see rhett and link do a podcast in the GMM set hahaha. loved this episode they're definitely my favorite guests
‘This doesn't sound like the usual mindless, boring, getting-to-know-you chit-chat.’
- Mia Wallace quote which perfectly! suits this interview
I clicked so fast I went back in time to Good Morning Chia Lincoln days. 👀
I didn't know Rhett had gotten bit by a sasquatch. My condolences.
Annual chat with the boys please make this a thing
"I grew up with a father at home" that is a best friend.
I'm the same as Link - if you didn't grab my attention first, you're just talking to yourself and will have to repeat everything once you get my attention away from whatever I'm actually focused on 😁
Definitely a positive - hyper focus on important tasks 👍
Yo. If I need a good cry, I'll watch City Slickers 1. When those self-actualising grown men rush to save the baby calf in the rapids, I'm gone. It's the best.
Link said he bought one wheels at 1:00:00 and I legit thought he meant unicycles initially.
Same, and i still don't know what he meant 😅🤣
@@oindrilaroy2086 a OneWheel is like an electric skateboard. it has one big wheel in the middle and your feet stand on either side of it. they're pretty dang cool
@@thewanderingwolf7116 thanks a lot 😃
I love how open ya'll are with your emotions. It's so important for men, and especially young boys growing up to realize that it's ok to cry and show emotion.
Ironically Im currently watching your last pod with Phil that was aired in Feb20! I flipping love yall!
so was i lmao, 2/3 done and started lastnight to wake up and see another one! crazy coincedence if you ask me lmao
I'm so freaking excited for the enneagram episodes now!
I think Rhett & Link should produce a film about 2 lifelong friends who move out to LA to become content creators and their journey to success. I'd love to see a movie like that
