- This is a small project I did using #greasepencil in #blender on my mac. This is a combination of 3D and 2D elements. For a lot of the 3D work I rendered using freestyle lines.

Thanks Rover! I really like Maya, I think its a great tool. The thing is Blender has ability to combine 2D and 3D animation in the same program which is perfect for the style of animation I'm trying to achieve. Also Blender is free which is great for independent artists that have small budgets! For these two reasons I'm switching to Blender.

No, actually I haven't. Looks like fun though!
@@mr.h yep, it does, I tried to rig in Blender, but it's kinda hard, so I tried Opentoonz. Opentoonz is free for both Frame by Frame and Cut out animation, it can tween, and it has both Vector and Raster Bases.
Any software that Studio Ghibli uses has to be awesome!

Hi Forza, thanks for your comment! Its a great question. It took me about a year to get comfortable with Maya and learn what I wanted to do. I actually never mastered the program. Most people specialize in one thing or another. I got really comfortable with modeling in Maya and some basic animation and that's all I needed.

Thanks Pixel, I appreciate the support! While my channel has featured a lot of different subjects in the past going forward it will be all about combining 3D and 2D animation for an overall 2D look.
