If you look at the dystopia as a whole - as a macro level - my argument is a cruel system in the sense that it is deceptive. So this song is fucking crushing. At first I was kinda weirded out like sometimes happens to me with mili songs, due to some of the lines ("one pan spaghetti", yo what?)or the "choo choo cha" thing. But if you take the song seriously and listen to the lyrics, it is crushing. Telling the story of someone who's grown up into a world that only now do they realize is not what was promised. A world that will not give them what was expected. You are told you'll be able to find love, buy a house, be financially independent, be in control of your life, etc. But then none of that comes true, no matter how hard you try to make it so. And other people who maybe had it easier will bother you about it. Someone asks the mc "why are you still alone?", like they are making a choice to be alone instead of being alone by force of it being nigh impossible not to for some people. I can't quite express how this song crushes me. The whole "I'm doing my best but the world isn't cooperating". Fucking hell, the whole verse at 2:19... Idk, I can't express myself, it's just crushing

Pretty sure the "choo choo cha" thing is to make it sound like a train that isn't stopping or taking a break, and "one pan spaghetti" is just a meal you're making to survive and put food in your body, not a meal you want to make because it's tasty, unlike the "buttered toast" line. I feel like this song is like a reminder, to not spend all your time on work but to leave out time for yourself and those who you cherish. but often, the reality is that many have no choice but to do so, countries strive for economic growth and those who can't keep up fast enough will be left behind, socially and financially. those too busy chasing that goal has forgotten what life is all about. I don't want to be like that, occupying all my time on work, even if it's work that I enjoy. I still want time for myself and for those around me. The lyrics 'enjoyed being alone, I don't want to be alone' resonantes a lot to me, and probably to many too. After a days worth of work/studies, I'd want to be alone especially since I don't really like being around people. But at the same time, there's a different kind of pain of being alone, whether physically or socially. Dedicating all your time to work leaves you little time to talk with people you know and love, or look for new friends. Its this kind of contradiction of feelings that can easily eat you up, I know it well, and I want to change that.

It actually reminds me of an old play called Death of a Salesman. It's from 1949, but it talks about the an ordinary salesman chasing after the American Dream. It's a tragedy that talked about the issues of capitalism that plagued the heart of many Americans. It was such a strong message that the government was actually worried that it might cause people to lean towards communism.

So this song is fucking crushing. At first I was kinda weirded out like sometimes happens to me with mili songs, due to some of the lines ("one pan spaghetti", yo what?)or the "choo choo cha" thing.
But if you take the song seriously and listen to the lyrics, it is crushing. Telling the story of someone who's grown up into a world that only now do they realize is not what was promised. A world that will not give them what was expected. You are told you'll be able to find love, buy a house, be financially independent, be in control of your life, etc. But then none of that comes true, no matter how hard you try to make it so. And other people who maybe had it easier will bother you about it. Someone asks the mc "why are you still alone?", like they are making a choice to be alone instead of being alone by force of it being nigh impossible not to for some people.
I can't quite express how this song crushes me. The whole "I'm doing my best but the world isn't cooperating". Fucking hell, the whole verse at 2:19... Idk, I can't express myself, it's just crushing

Pretty sure the "choo choo cha" thing is to make it sound like a train that isn't stopping or taking a break, and "one pan spaghetti" is just a meal you're making to survive and put food in your body, not a meal you want to make because it's tasty, unlike the "buttered toast" line. Surface level it sounds silly but I think it all has meaning

I feel like this song is like a reminder, to not spend all your time on work but to leave out time for yourself and those who you cherish. but often, the reality is that many have no choice but to do so, countries strive for economic growth and those who can't keep up fast enough will be left behind, socially and financially. those too busy chasing that goal has forgotten what life is all about. I don't want to be like that, occupying all my time on work, even if it's work that I enjoy. I still want time for myself and for those around me.
The lyrics 'enjoyed being alone, I don't want to be alone' resonantes a lot to me, and probably to many too. After a days worth of work/studies, I'd want to be alone especially since I don't really like being around people. But at the same time, there's a different kind of pain of being alone, whether physically or socially. Dedicating all your time to work leaves you little time to talk with people you know and love, or look for new friends. Its this kind of contradiction of feelings that can easily eat you up, I know it well, and I want to change that.

It actually reminds me of an old play called Death of a Salesman. It's from 1949, but it talks about the an ordinary salesman chasing after the American Dream. It's a tragedy that talked about the issues of capitalism that plagued the heart of many Americans. It was such a strong message that the government was actually worried that it might cause people to lean towards communism.

Mili... did you read my life or something!? I just got my first job months ago and almost everything in this song is too relatable. The job, student loan, low waste life, home, travel, waiting to chasing the dream someday... I know it's not that hard to predict what us salaryman do and dream but still I'm being blown away by how hard these simple lyrics hit me. It starts to make me think about my daily life and dream as well.
And of course amazing song as always. Really like the instrument and arrangement. You never fail to impress me musically whether its classical or electronic. All of these are the reasons why I love you guys. This one is an instant favorite for sure!

i come back to this song a concerning amount. i dont mean to vent too much, but listening to this song as a 20yo set to graduate college a year early is like staring into the mouth of a beast about to eat you. you know that it’s coming, that everything as you know will end soon, but all you can do is let it happen and hope everything will numb itself. i’m going to have to work hard forever to remain afloat, and settling for a job i don’t particularly care about is just going to make this song feel all the more real. i see the struggles of my managers, my coworkers, my classmates, so many people, and it’s so hard to remember the faces of those who want to keep living the way they are when i know so many more who don’t. i’ve done what i was told my whole life, but with the way the world is, i’ll probably never be able to truly “live”

It's incredible how Mili has been part of every step of my journey. Three years ago, I stumbled upon her songs "world.execute(me)" and "sustain++," which mentions programming codes, and I was totally in love... As a beginner in programming, I was mesmerized by the intricate codes in her musics. I remember questioning myself, if I would ever be able to understand those lines of code. (Spoiler: I do now.)
Fast forward to today, I'm employed as a Backend developer. This song encapsulates the exact moment I'm living through. I'm building my muscles, learning to be minimal, and striving to make my dreams come true. "Tiny mice looked right at me" is a great line because it seems just kind of weird unless youve been told that seeing mice is a fairly common hallucination and the role that stress plays in causing and exerberating such symptoms, at which point it makes a distressing amount of sense.
I was thinking that it's alluding to the "rat race" idiom, never knew about that being a common hallucination.
