I really like this tutorial. So simple gets to the point. Doesn’t take 1 hour just to get to 1 point. Doesn’t get so technical. Just makes them literally homemade. Doesn’t teach me like it’s a cooking show.
YeS! i agree 100%
Yes, exactly! Thank you for saying it for me.

I do these a lot but I salt them just as they come out of the oil. I have also found that a woc is the best way to fry them. With the woc, you can get the oil a little deeper and put in a hand full at the time even stuck together. As soon as they hit the oil, they separate and when they turn the color you like, use a wire dipper to remove ready for the next handful. . Chef Jerry
What's woc?
This is a healthier version! Without all the junk ingredients in it. I'll try them this weekend! Thank you for sharing it with us.
JoAnneEllaine Hey JoAnne. Yes, that why I like them. There's no junk and I can control what goes in them. Let us know how your chips turn out.
Turned out amazingly thanks
@@TheCooknShare with junk, do you guys mean stuff that will keep them "fresh" longer? Oor?
made these and they came out beautifully. Took a couple of tries to figure out exactly at what point to remove them from the fat, but after I had that figured out, the rest came out crispy and delicious. Even better than store bought chips. Thank you so much!
I like all your recipe it’s very easy and simple
Have to learn this due to the coronavirus.
Are the people in your country hogging the chips like some are doing with the toilet paper?
Me too 😜😂🤣
There was never any shortage!

I made these yesterday. Your recipe was quick and easy. It's the first time I've been able to get a truly crispy homemade potato chip. Thank you for the video.
Hi. Fantastic. So glad they turned out and you enjoyed them. Keep cooking.

Hi. Thanks so much. Hope you try many recipes.
Live extra 10 years by making your own schnacks! Definitely healthy than those with preservatives and loads of additives.
I dont think you realize not all additives are bad right? And most of the preservatives is just salt.
The number one additive in the US for chips is MSG. Which isnt harmful in small quantities.
@@lincolnator123 Found the 8 year old
@@OnBrandRP Not all additives are bad, but why take the chance?
@@OnBrandRP What about all those rancid industrial vegetable/seed oils though? 🤢
Great video! Not like the other 14min tutorials, very simple and straight to the point. Good work.

I love home made potato chips! My mom used to make 'em all the time when I was a kid, and now I make them for my kid, he loves them too
Jessica Olive Hi Jessica. They are so good, and you can control what's going in them.
Two things, 1. Can you narrate my life? And 2. I love your recipes! As a college student and dorming it sucks when you don't know what to cook, and some of your recipes have saved me! Thank you so much!!! Keep up the good work (and food!) :D
VashtaNerada1701 Hi Vashta. Sure, send me the script, and I'll work on it LOL. Thanks and you're very welcome. Actually, you can dorm it and still eat well contrary to popular belief.

Hahaha! Thanks! Lol! It's true. I'm glad I'm able to keep eating healthy. Simple foods, yet very satisfying. Thank you!!!!
They look tasty, my mouth is watery now. Will certainly try it. Thanks.
For a long time I've used to slice peeled Idaho russet spuds slicing them on the thinnest slice on the mandolin, rinsing them in cold water until water runs clear. Then drain them and at them dry, heated the oil in the cast iron Dutch oven to 320F, adding the chips one by one. This prevents sticking.using a spider stir occasionally until the oil temperature comes back to 320F. Remove chips with the spider colander over a bowl. Heat oil to 425F. Return chips to hot oil, stirring until chips start to turn golden brown. Remove, drain, and season with salt or any other taste enhancement.

This is the best potato chip I've ever seen!
Thanks so much.
3:20 wow before that it sounded like you were talking under water
I have a food processor and use it to slice my potatoes... Takes all of 2 seconds to slice the whole potato up into chips. I also use it for shredding potatoes for making hash browns, or shredding just about anything and everything else. It was one of the best things I ever bought.
Hi Jenny. Fantastic idea. You could open a chip factory. LOL. Yes, do that and let us know. BTW, I have one too. I'll have to try that. Take care and stay safe.
So this is what happened... I was smoking weed and thought about making my own potato chips ( obviously) so I searched this video and clicked, and continued smoking my bong. I actually had to rewatch the video because I had the sound of and i started petting my dog and got distracted. Thanks for taking that trip with me. I think we all grew in the process.
I used these instructions yesterday to make about a gallon bag worth of chips to take to a party and I don't think I will ever go back to store bought potato chips they were amazing. By the end of the party their wasn't even half of a chip left. So so good
+Rachel Mcmahon Hi. That's what we like to hear. So glad everybody enjoyed them.

Thank you. I've been craving homemade crips and this is just what I needed
Great. Hope you try it.
I found out that if you use a potato peeler to make the slices they come out even crispier!
Great idea...
Omg 🩵 I'm dancing around the kitchen these are sooo yummy 💛 thank you
That's fantastic. So glad you enjoyed.
The 'peeler' also makes super-thin chips.
Man I love this guy
Having chronic kidney disease potassium is a problem when it comes to potato chips. No matter how low the store-bought ones are in sodium and fat they still have potassium. I turned to homemade chips and was surprised the slices were soaked in water to remove excess starch. In my case, I can soak them for four hours or more to leach about half of the potassium. It is good the cheese grater I recently bought has a slicer so all I need is a bag of yellow potatoes.
These look delicious. Going to try this. Thanks for posting.
You are so welcome. Hope you try it.

Kelly Carpenter Hey Kelly. They are good. Hope you're have a great weekend, too.
You can do the same with green plantains. Also make a Cuban mojo dip for the plantain chips that's delicious: garlic, onion, juice from bitter orange, cumin, olive oil, and butter.

Also here x the quarantine! Trying t learn as much as possible. I'm From El Bordo, Salta, Argentina.
First he said: 30 minutes, then he said: after half an hour...so which one is it? I sold my Lamborghini for this knowledge.
Hi. Actually, 30 minutes is half an hour. Hope this helps.
These are the best. The only problem was I kept eating the cooked ones while they were draining and had to keep frying more. Took me over an hour to get a plate full.
LOL. So glad you enjoyed them. They are hard to stop eating.
Another way to make crispy chips is to peel, slice on thinnest mandolin. I use an aluminum pizza peal. Place sheet of parchment paper that fits the size of the microwavet turn table. Place the parchment on the peal. Spray the parchment with with vegetable oil or canola oil. Lay the chips on the paper. Don't overlap. Spray the chips with very light coating of vegetable spry and a light coating of salt. Using the peal place the loaded parchment on the microwave turn table. On a 1000W microwave set the time for 7 minutes and cook on 100% high power. The chip should show a hint of light brown. If not nuke them for 1 minute more.
Gene Park I have Mastrad microwave trays I use for making potato chips. May I ask why you peel the potatoes when the skin is where the nutrition is? Also, when I want flavored chips, I put them in a large bowl with a lid, I put powdered salad dressing in the bowl, put potatoes in, then sprinkle more powdered dressing on top of the potatoes, put the lid on the bowl, and shake. The chips go on the tray, microwave for three minutes, let them cool for about thirty to sixty seconds, then microwave for two more minutes. With these trays, I found if I microwaved them for five straight minutes the chips burned, but if I split the time, they normally don't burn.

You do realise vegetable oil is canola/sunflower oil, right..?
