I don't know why, but seeing you finally install the windows and weights after all the hard and careful work you've put in to restoring them made me feel really emotional.
I like the brown on the outside, because your front door is brown & it would coordinate all the doors on the home. I love watching you guys renovate your old home, it gives me ideas on things I can do to my old houses in Louisiana.
I really enjoyed watching MaCenna and Romeo working together. During the day, at night. Together with their sweat, hard work, determination. Building their home. ❤
when you do plants for spring, look for native perennials!! you may need drought resistant or deer resistant out there in texas too! native plants tend to do better with less effort, and benefit pollinators!
Ended up getting some black eyed susans for free when I first got my house. They weren't a flower I had been considering, but they flourished in our clay soil and get absolutely huge and covered in blooms in a way that none of my other flowers do, for basically no effort or watering! I also get to divide them every year and put them new places or gift them to friends and family. Native perennials are truly a gift that keep giving, and can always be used for main garden structure and you can fill in with annuals if desired.
So excited 😆! I was in a little boutique/ thrift store in my town the other day and I was talking to the owner and mentioned I had been watching UA-cam videos where a young lady is redoing a 110 year old house and immediately she said “Me too” I said MaCenna? She said yes! We talked for such a long time about how we loved your style and videos & how excited we are for you! I can’t believe it’s been a year since you started on this journey and I am so thankful you have brought us along.
I love Macenna’s positivity!!! Even an ice storm can’t bring her down. Instead she becomes SO EXCITED about something else she’s passionate about. Definitely gonna learn that trait from my friend 😉
I am part of the 3% that said we're excited for the guest bathroom. Loved this episode of creating mood boards. Looking forward to the coming weeks with so much excitement.
Hey Macenna, I’m an architect from Germany and have been following your cottage journey. I find it so interesting to see the differences in building styles in the US compared to Germany and I was wondering about how you installed your windows. How do you seal them to prevent water going under the trim and into the wall. Like the foil that is underneath the siding, does it not have be sealed to the windows to prevent creating a thermal bridge between the windows and the wall? It’s a really specific question and I hope you understand what I mean and maybe get around to answering it. 🙈😂 So inspired by your work 🙌🏻❤️
It's amazing how many skills you have gained in such a short time. Just restoring the windows was a hugely impressive feat. The house is going to be beautiful, and just like the dirt under your feet, you own it all. What a great feeling!
You have no idea how excited I am to see the sheetrock go up! When that video drops I'm going to flip. And I bet you're SUPER excited for the dry in stage. Congrats on the cottage so far, proud of you girl.
Oh SO inspiring! I’m beginning my life over after a trauma that caused me to lose EVERYTHING I have ever collected and purchased in Europe, had handed down in heirlooms I had, original artwork throughout, including my own, my entire books library (that hurts most believe it or not-I read them and used them all), so....I’m not building a house, but a life, which will begin with a tiny apartment, but I am so excited for it. Your work brings me the nostalgia of home and also the inspiration for my new home I’m planning. Thank you MaCenna!!!
Good for you! You will always have those memories, and now you get a chance at a fresh start and building new ones. Prayers and good wishes for your future.
I lost everything 3 years ago (also to trauma), so I completely understand where you're coming from. I still have to remind myself at times that it was just stuff, I am here & I still have all of the memories, nobody can take them from me. It's difficult at times, but I have also started over in a small apartment, & I am okay with that. It is mine & it's my safe place. I wish you the absolute best in your journey- you really start to appreciate the small stuff when you've lost as much as we have...much love from Oregon 💕
I am learning it is the little things that make a big difference. Was so sure I liked the brown side of the door outside until you put the floor boars in front of it. Big difference! You are so talented and clever!
Omg 😱 omg progress!! These windows are a job. So impressed. Daylight savings is coming💕. I’m so glad you’re not touching doors. I like white w decking they pop more. Yes to the visual boards. I used houzz as well.
Watching you and Romeo work together is giving me nostalgia for future you! I can't imagine the pride you'll feel sitting in that house YEARS down the line... thinking about all the love and effort that went into your home (especially those windows)!!!
can we just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of MaCenna wearing her floral cardigan 😍 but omg we're really close to DIY stuff and room makeovers and decors and styling! cant waiiiit!
The shot of the window install above the tub 😍 the outdoor lighting turning blue and then black while capturing an illuminated sweet moment 🥰 thank you for sharing your journey; it’s a joy to watch 🤍
Seeing you and Romeo working inside the house with the light in the windows makes me think about the first couple who first built the windows and planned the cottage 100 years ago.
You are an AMAZING human!! I have such respect and admiration for you…….. restoring your home, with a smile on your face and the best outlook in every vlog! You deserve it all!! Your home is going to be stunning, and you can sit back and say” I did all this”!! What a huge accomplishment. ❤️
MaCenna, it's so much fun to go back and watch these videos of you planning what's already come to fruition. I'm still in awe of your vision and passion. ❤
OMG YOUR EYES ARE JUST so pretty! Also I am loving this series... it's something I look forward too! I don't have my own home yet (in future i'm hoping prices go down to a reasonable price) but I am definitely taking inspiration from your style!
I honestly admire how you keep this all in your thoughts and mind. You make it all look so do -able! I have learned so much watching you renovate this house! Thanks for taking us along !!! 😊
All the hard work that you are putting in to that house, I can’t imagine you not moving there permanently! I just know it’s going to be gorgeous! I love it already!
Aahhh you give an old lady memories of days gone by… and if only I had the strength and energy to do it again, I would! Thank you, sweet thing, keep up the energetic blogs, and show all that love you have for your old house, and your young visions, and your sweet man!🥰🥰
Loved seeing your mood boards and watching you and Romeo install the windows felt like such a special moment - I don't know why but I was so touched by seeing you guys work together. It's been such a wonderful and inspiring experience to be a witness along your journey. Great job!
Omg at 11.00 that floral cardigan on you is ✨everything✨ Also the time lapse of you and Romeo installing the windows in the primary bath until dark is so calming and sweet🥰
So lovely to see all the windows going in. This is the culmination of such hard work! I keep thinking about how well you know this home: if anything breaks you can fix it yourself because you built it in the first place! So inspiring.
I had to pause to wipe the tears of joy seeing the primary bathroom windows go in especially with the lighting behind you and the music playing. I have been following since day one MaCenna and Romeo and could not be happier for you kids. Ya'll make this look so easy and seeing it all come together and the happiness within, just warms my heart! Oh my gosh, I had to edit to say that I'm not the bushman..but his mamma. Love you guys!
I had a black straight wrought iron fence around the front and sides of my house for 40 years! I LOVED it. It was strong and graceful looking. It grounded my house. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Oh, and blue and white morning glories looked great climbing at the entrance. So excited for you guys! So close now…
Macenna, so happy for you and your home. I wanted to thank you for your energy, and your encouragement. I struggle daily with depression and anxiety and sometimes I just play your videos and take one step at a time. I’m eternally grateful for you. Can’t wait to see more and more of your success.
I love the tile in the guest bathroom it's perfect. I so look forward to every time that you upload. Things are really coming together. I just purchased a house last year and it took 6 months to get my sofa so I'm not shocked by how long you have to wait for your stove. I love your boards on pinterest it's really given me ideas because I don't have a vision board and wish I did. Thank you for letting us see all the how to's of creating a home practically from scratch.
I’m so excited for you to get to design and start on the inside! We’ve been slowly renovating our house for the last 7 years while living in it. Can only stand living in a construction zone for so long before I need a break
The love you have put into the cottage truly represents “labor of love”. Installing those windows after all the scraping and painting feels monumental. I can’t wait to see the finish project but yet I don’t want this journey to end! You have so many wonderful ideas that keep me motivated!

I just ADORE watching you and this whole process. I say it all the time but it is truly so much fun to follow. ALSO. Watching you and Romeo work so well together just warmed my heart. It’s so evident how much you care for each other and it’s just beautiful 🤍
You are my hero! You have inspired me and my complete home make over. You have taught an old dog new tricks. I hope you know how proud of your followers are of you!

MaCenna, enjoying this journey with you Romeo and your Momma, oh Kinsley too. It's been fascinating watching you rebuild the windows and placement. I'm so excited to see so much more. Your enthusiasm is contagious!!!. Anxiously awaiting your next vlog. Hugs.💞
Loved your front doors...creates crazy charm and interest!!! They are perfect against the interior and exterior stains!!! Congrats on finishing those blasted windows!!! Just pray that they function as well as they look!!! You guys rock!!! Congrats!!!
McKenna, seeing the windows go in gave me such a warm, fuzzy feeling and I couldn't stop smiling. I can't get over how invested I am in ur home. You and Romeo have accomplished SO much. We'll done 👏👏
I watched this entire video and still didn't figure out what sheetrock is. This series is amazing, you're both so skilled and such hard workers! You should be so proud 😊 Your cottage is coming together beautifully, can't wait for the next episode and to see it continue to "grow". It'll be a work of art when it's done!

Watching the cottage transform over the past few months has really inspired me, I can't wait to renovate my own home someday. I love your videos, MaCenna!
I get more and more excited about your progress with each video! I was so happy when you said you were not going to refinish those beautiful doors for the porch. Can't wait to see them installed!!

This journey you are on is fantastic, I don’t know how you will return to LA, even on a part time basis! You are truly amazing and your parents and Romeo must be so very proud of you! I don’t have to say, keep up the good work, because that’s all you do….good work!👍😉
I don't know why, but seeing you finally install the windows and weights after all the hard and careful work you've put in to restoring them made me feel really emotional.

AHHH I CANT BELIEVE IVE BEEN WATCHING THIS SERIES FOR OVER A YEAR?!!??!!! ❤️ i’ve loved watching every update from you!!
Right! I was doing the math while watching her last video and was like 😱 it's been a year already?!
Crazy right!!!!! A year!!!!!
And it's the series we all look forward to the most for over a year 😍. Monday morning coffee and MaCenna renovating her house.
Mee too damn we're getting old
Better than any series on TV.
You’ve come a long way……from a boho wall hanging to building a home, unbelievable ❤️
Hahaha wow yeah that was one of the first projects I shared!! Gosh feels like a lifetime ago
Are you putting in screens eventually? I LOVE black widows. It’s looking amazing already! Xo

i feel the same 😁
I agree. the sharp contrast jars on the outside, whereas the darker door is more organic and fits the outside more.
I’m hoping you’ll seal the lead paint with a varnish or some type of top coat 🤞🏼
Ugh… the shot of you two working inside while the sun went down on the outside of the house gave me all the feels. 💓
I really enjoyed watching MaCenna and Romeo working together. During the day, at night. Together with their sweat, hard work, determination. Building their home. ❤

Brown outside! Looks cohesive with the whole outdoor vibes with the front porch
Definitely darker side on the outside, it compliments your front door and the flooring x

I don’t have to say, keep up the good work, because that’s all you do….good work!👍😉
Sending love from North Texas! Can’t wait to watch your progress!
