Hey @Marakasot78, I wanted to ask a question in regards to a different video. Are display drivers and graphics drivers the same thing? Just different names people refer to of the same thing?
I used Vudu's Disc to Digital a while back and was able to convert most of my DVDs and Blu-rays to digital before selling all my physical copies. Less clutter is awesome.
What about for those of us who many moons ago ditched all of our dvd packaging and put our discs into large cases that hold 50 or discs? Out of luck entirely?
Can this be done on an iPhone. The disc to digital option is simply not there. Not sure if it’s licensing like how you can watch Vudu movies on iPhone but can’t purchase them on it. Have to purchase on another device
Apple doesn't allow in app purchases like this. Their policy is all purchases on their devices have to go through their store so they get a cut of the money. This is part of the reason I do not use Apple products.
Lovely, informative video, very much appreciated. One question though, may I scan a barcode of a "TV series collection" (such as Complete Series purchases of series "x".. i.e I have the "Futurama Complete Collection" set), Will I be able to digitize the collection with the one barcode?
Vudu is an app I’ve been using for a while now. I have over 300 films in my library. Now that they added disc to digital I get to add some of my old dvds to my digital library
Great video. I like Vudu, but poor customer support. Wish they still had the half off Disc-to-Digital when you convert 10 or more. And yes, some companies want you to buy their movies a second time.
I recently got the fnaf movie on movies anywhere, but it didn’t transfer onto UA-cam like it did for the Mario Movie & Hop. It’s all synced, but it won’t get onto UA-cam. Why is that happening?
Glad you made these videos! You explain things really well. Can I edit the digital versions to mute bad language or skip scenes? The movies I watched as a kid were edited for tv but now that I'm showing my kids I'd prefer to skip some parts but there is no way to edit disney movies that I've found so I was hoping to do it myself.
I’m having a ton of issues with disk to digital with the “billing dress does not match location”. I’ve followed all the tips from the forums and nothing works.
Question if I discounted my iTunes from movies anywhere will I keep the movies as long as I don’t connect to another movies anywhere account? Also let’s say if I have purchased movies on movies anywhere and I connected a retailer after will they still transfer?
This is my first time watching one of your videos but it was really useful. I was wondering why some of the movies from my VUDU account weren't showing up in my Movies Anywhere account so thanks for clarifying that issue. #4% Club
I have amount in balance from vudu fandango gift card I've purchased. It wont let me buy movie from my balance. I dont see why that wont work beside using credit card or PayPal
#4%club found this very informative considering I didn’t know that about Disney and I love Vudu! It would be nice if they change their mind on the subject eventually but all in all Vudu is doing great for me and my fam. Tysm for all your explanations and in depth material! 🤗
The app is now called Fandango at Home. To convert your discs to digital, you first need to log in to your account (or create one if you don't have one already), and link any of your other digital streaming accounts you may have (i.e. Movies Anywhere, Prime Video, etc.). Once logged in, tap on Library at the bottom of the screen, then scroll to the bottom of your library, and you'll see some text that says, "Want to add more to your library? Redeem a promo code or convert a disc." The words Redeem and Convert will be blue while the rest of the text is white. Tap on Redeem, and it will open your web browser and take you to their website where you can then convert your discs. You then just follow the instructions there. I don't know how long ago exactly this change was made, but it's probably time I update this video with a new one.
@ Thanks so much. Yes, since you video was so helpful, it would be helpful too to talk about an app that is actually available. But thanks for all your info, including this in on how to use Fandango at home. Cheers!
I assumed it was the same on iOS as on Android... looks like it's different... here's a link to VUDU's page that tells how to do it on iOS www.vudu.com/content/in_home_disc_to_digital.html scroll down to the bottom of the page the instructions are there. I wonder if it has to do with in-app purchases? I know Apple has different rules about that?
I'm currently trying to convert all my discs to digital via Vudu, but we never kept the actual cases so they've just been discs sitting around that we want to get rid of. Since I don't have that barcode, what are my options at this point?
Get a software and digitize it with an optical reader in a computer. That's the only way unless you are going to take the DVD to someone to do it. Use MakeMKV and then convert using Handbrake into any file for at you want. Then it's a simple drag and drop to your device, flash drive, or loading it up to your Plex server.
When they first started the D2D service, you used to put the disc in your disc drive. It wasn’t the most consistent process. I don’t think you can do it that way anymore.
You didn't mention the 100 movie limit per calendar year... that was dreadfully disappointing for me. I have over 1500 movies and it would take a LONG time to get it all done. People need to be selective on what they want to add the first year...
I had a lot of hope for this since I have over 1500 DVD's and then I saw the price and that became a giant NOPE. Any other options that might work that do not require paying thousands of dollars for movies I already own?
Yah this isn't ideal if tou have a lot of movies you want to add to your digital library. I don't know of any other way to add them to a streaming service library like Vudu or Movies Anywhere, etc. If you've got the time you can rip them and add them to a home media server using Plex or Kodi or something similar. Most NAS's nowadays have that functionality. Those work best for in home streaming in my experience but do have the ability to stream out over the internet too.
I wish the movies came with the bonus features after you converted them though. Another issue I had was scanning movies that came in packs. I have the first 4 Rocky movies that I was going to convert but it wouldn't let me. UPDATE: I converted a few more movies and they did include bonus features. I guess some movies have them and some don't.
Yah the disc to digital feature doesn't work on iOS. I didn't find this out until after I made this video. I use Android so I just assumed it was the same on iOS. I found Apple doesn't allow in-app purchases where the money goes directly to the app maker/company providing the service (like in this instance VUDU). Apple wants all iOS purchases to go through their app store so they get a percentage of the money. So since VUDU's disc to digital is an in app purchase, that feature is not allowed on iOS. I think I remember reading something somewhere saying you can do it using Safari though... Yah, the info is here on this page. www.vudu.com/content/in_home_disc_to_digital.html
When I made this video I assumed it works the same on both iOS and Android but apparently on iOS Disc to Digital is not built in to the app. Probably due to Apple's rules about in app purchases. On iOS you have to do it through a web browser. Also I couldn't convert any movies either until I updated my payment information on my VUDU account. Once I had current/valid payment info on my account it worked.
Just a quick comment without taking the time to confirm but it seems like I remember reading that you can only do 100 movies per year disc to digital through Vudu
It goes to show that the digital alternative that corporations offer will nowhere provide the same convenience as ripping your videos yourself and running Plex. They will want to keep you attached to them at all costs and to me, that is disrespectful towards their customers. As a customer, we paid for a physical copy of that movie and with that, comes a right to do whatever we want with it as long as it's not for commercial use. "We know you bought that but we're not going to allow you to do that." It is the ludicrous equivalent of some corporate suit breaking into your house and forcibly stopping you from playing a movie that is not proprietary to their product line. Imagine that. Sony only allowing their movies to be played through Sony drives. It makes me question the legality of their practice. They make movies. They sell them to me. That relationship is done. What they are doing is obsessive, in wanting to keep a control of a market that shouldn't exist.
I have sent 10 separate movies to VUDU with pictures of case, disks and UPC. They have two movies (this has happened before) with the same title but they tagged the UPC to a cartoon not the movie with real people. Vudu thinks at 74 years old, 800 movies in my library and a total cost for the "Disk to Digital" of $2 - they think I am trying to screw them out of $2. Then after sending the email (they couldn't find any pictures?) and two weeks of calls, I finally asked for a supervisor. Again I sent the email with pictures and he received them. Strange - who deleted the other 10?
They used to have an application you downloaded to your computer and you put your DVD into your DVD drive and after paying the fee it would add the movie to your online streaming library. But as far as I know Vudu doesn't offer that anymore. As far as I know there is no other way currently than scanning the barcode. I could be wrong though as I haven't looked into it in a while.
#4%CLUB What do you recommend if (God Forbid) you still have VHS that you would like to upload to digital? Is there a VHS to Digital converter similar to what you describe here?
1st off, Vudu's library supplies more SPECIAL FEATURES of owned movies, as if taken from different discs sold. Movies Anywhere seems to show only those provided on the purchased disc or video app. Appreciating both apps & opposed to concern of use of multiple apps, most users should find how to upload digital video files, either personal or ripped, so they can be viewed anywhere! Think of an app having that ability!!!
HDX is 1080p which is what a blu-ray is. Of course streamed media always has some type of compression applied and you'll get the best/uncompressed picture and sound watching the blu-ray.
movies anywhere is not allowed by all content owners not like Vudu not allowing it to move over. Vudu is great specially since most will move to movies anywhere is able.
