Zoroark isn't even a Sinnoh native. It wasn't even available until Unova came out.
Fancy Vivillon is a Paldean native. If he truly wanted to make the point, he should have went with Meadow Vivillon, an actual Kalos native.
Serperior is based on French-themed story, Versailles no Bara (new anime series is airing soon, the trailer is already available). That's Ken Sugimori's words. How does Snivy not fit for Kalos?
And I agree with you Matt. How on earth Grookey is too British? If anything, Scorbunny fits that bill better since UK has popular rabbits in media and real life.

I think the aesthetic assessment is a viable argument, & this is present in the PLA all three of the starters that were selected have aspects that can be tied back to Asian culture that were exaggerated so selecting Pokémon that have direct ties that might seem vague and or unrefined that might connect them to Kalos and then amp Ing up those vibes and aesthetics to fit even more within the parameters of that culture makes 100% sense as that is what they did last time
The thing about the gen6 starters is that they can still possibly be found in the wild, similar to how the Gen 4 starters were found in Hisui. So, they can drill be in the game, with megas, and not be the given starters at the beginning of the game.
But why not simply make them the starters? They are the obvious choice, since they never got to shine back in X&Y because of not receiving megas and being overshadowed by the Kanto starters, who did get megas.

@@Kamiyouni This is a bogus argument. The gen 4 starters got plenty of exposure with BDSP, they didn't need to get any more in PLA. Also, PLA's model for starters is silly, why would 3 random starters getting regional final evolutions ever happen again? It's cringe and random af.
I love the ideas of the kalos starters getting megas and I’m down for it but I would prefer that they ALL get a battle bond form like greninja and this game would be perfect to bring ash greninja back anyway
@@aaronanderson3621 Never have I heard such a terrible idea before. Ash-Greninja has been officially retconned, it will never appear in the games again. Good riddance to it.
I can see GF using the same formula 2,5,7 for starters again but some of the reasonings just sound off.
I feel like we should look at how GF chose the Husian starters - how they fit with the sinnoh/hisui theme…and depends on the timeline of Legends ZA which would bring us closer to which starters match with that era and theme.
For example, Typlosion H was based off a demon parade, Decidueye and Samurott H were inspired by samurai fighters…
Serperior being based on French Royalty and Empoleon being based on Nepoleon is enough for me to feel like they'd make the most sense. That is regardless of how Recent Piplup appeared. Piplup is already really popular and recognisable thanks to the anime.
For the fire starter Chimchar and Scorbunny could work, though I personally would love to see what they could do with Incineroar.

You know what?? At this point, i just can't wait for the official announcement of the starter choices, and whoever the 3 are, im just gonna with who i would prefer and roll with it! For all we know, GF can chose starters based on if they can make the designs of the Megas/Forms look good..We really dont know!
Those are exactly the three starters I was thinking it would be.
With Chikorita being Grass/Fairy, Tepig being Fire/Dark (Which at the time most of us thought it was going to be when Black/White released), and Popplio being Water/Psychic.
For Tepig, we were probably expecting it to be Fire/Ground.
I'm glad he seemed to come up with the same three I was guessing. Though the types I went with were different. I got Chikorita becoming Grass/Poison with a drooping lily and weeping willow aesthetic(though could also see an argument for Grass/Ghost with the same aesthetic choice), Tepig as a Fire/Fairy type with a cooking/chef aesthetic, and Popplio as a Water/Dark with a hard rock or heavy metal singer aesthetic(there's very few types I can fit to music genres, but the two I picked the the aesthetic did start getting popular back in France's 70's).
I don't think shareholders are pissed. Nintendo is not revealing to them because one of them will leak the informations 100% regardless of NDAs. That would cause the projection of Nintendo marketing strategy to go out of the window, with potential less profit than expected. Nintendo is saying shareholders "you will earn more by not knowing now" and that's what shareholders cares about
Kinda weird hearing them explain how Serperior doesn't have Kalosian vibes and doesn't match the aesthetic...when Perfume Palace has not one but two gilded Serperior on the entrance gate 🙄 it's like saying that people in Kalos don't love Roselia when there's a whole fountain in Santalune shaped like her lol someone didn't do their research
If I had to make an educated guess:
Kalosian Magnanium: I mean, cmon. It's universally agreed to be the weakest starter in the series, it needs something. While this probably wouldn't happen, I could see it being a Grass/Fure type.
Kalosian Infernape: It was close, but I actually think Infernape would fit, mostly because of its inspirations. Infernape is losely based on Sun Wukong, which would be fitting in a region where it arguable has the second closest god-like legendaries, being of Life, Death, and... snake.
A Fire/Fairy would fit Infernape very well, since Sun Wukong was quite the mischevious god.
Finally, Kalosian Intelleon. Out of all the Galar starters, I think Intelleon was the least well received out of the three. It could be a Water/Poison or Water/Steel for.... revolutionary purposes. I mean, a Guillotine Gecko would be sick.
For the fire starter in legend a-z I believe it is going to be Litten.
Plot twist:
The starters are going to be Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, but with their types swapped
Honestly the prediction makes sense even tho I still think Piplup Will be the water starter the 3 the person picked were Also from gen 2,5 and 7 so It kinda makes sense
My theory is they’ll do gen 2 5 and 7 as starters again and just swap typing so a different water fire and grass one from each of the 3 gens if not just the gen 6 starters
I think the starters for Pokémon Legends Z-A will be Snivy, Scorbunny and Piplup.
• Piplup makes sense because not a single Pokémon from Sinnoh(DP anime) got a regional form outside of the region.

@@therogueemerald those pokemon have somewhat french influences. empoleon quite literally has napoleon in the name, serperior is based on french royalty (the other gen 5 starters are based on different cultures, emboar has chinese relations, as does samurott with japan respectively), and football is pretty important in france.
I agree with Pipplup and Snivy. But I think it’ll be Torchic since the rooster is the French national animal

To be honest even though he did not choose Scoorbunny his they to British comment is not the reason galar starters would be off the list they got Gmax forms.

I think it's likely for the PLZA starters to be the same as X/Y because, unlike in PLA, it seems from the trailer and wording that Pokémon and humans in PLZA's Lumiose City are already getting along and fighting side by side.
The reason why in PLA the starters are brought from another region is because the Pokémon population of Hisui is too hostile on average to serve well for someone's first partner (unless you're a respected member from a clan, I guess), but its narrative seems to imply that it isn't necessarily the case in all other regions at the times when PLA is set.
Therefore, if Pokémon Trainers were already a thing in PLZA Kalos times, it'd make no sense for us to get starters from another region, because the culture of raising Pokémon and working side by side with them would be already well-established in Kalos.
The only scenarios in which this wouldn't be the case, would be if either:
1. Fennekin, Chespin and Froakie are somehow among the species that aren't well-documented/tame enough yet in PLZA Kalos;
2. If Fennekin, Chespin and Froakie, getting a Mega, end up taking the role of Gen1 Starters in XY, hence a choice you're supposed to make later on in the game and not at the start.
For all we know, they might even still give us Gen6 starters at the beginning and claim they aren't originally from Kalos, but from somewhere else (and honestly, I wouldn't find it hard to believe if for instance Froakie is originally from Kanto or Johto, or Fennekin is originally from Galar due to its sorcery theme).
Let's also not forget that in the guidebook GameFreak had released in 1996, back when the Pokémon world was still not separate from the real one, they claimed that Pokémon Studies originated in FRANCE.
And it seems the lore from that guidebook isn't completely forgotten by GF. considering the way Laventon described the process through which Pokémon get inside Pokéballs by miniaturizing themselves actually comes from there.
So, following this logic, Kalos should've been among the very first regions to become acquainted on a deeper level with Pokémon and thus develop the Pokémon-Training culture very early on compared to Hisui/Sinnoh.
If Gen6 Starters aren't the ones we get at the beginning, then I'd place my bets on Snivy/Chikorita, Piplup/Popplio and Litten/Scorbunny. Honestly, whether Scorbunny is viable or not, in my opinion, relies on whether they are planning to scrap Gigantamax forever or not. As it is, it's hard to say.
That list also makes sense because it uses the exact same regions that Legends Arceus used; 2, 5 & 7.
I’m still 100% certain it’s going to be Snivy, Pipplup, and Torchic. They all have ties to France so they’d make total sense to me. I refuse to believe any leaks that say otherwise, I’ll only believe an official announcement.
i have a theory that the starters will be the last 3 tera raids they do for SV. Feraligatr, Torterra, Serperior, and Incineroar haven’t been in it yet

I like the document by the person piecing together what starters could be possibly the starters for Pokémon Legends Z-A, it's very detailed & reasonable, happy about it. Also, we can only wait & see the official starters PLZ-A when it's officially announced & shown.
In my opinion, aesthetics are very important, having a pokemon based on the French emperor is going to be a much higher of a candidate than a fire monkey. Chi char seemingly has no ties to france compared to piplup. Scorbunny being a soccer player also is much more of a fit for France compared to the other two. They may have worded it poorly but their opinions are quite understandable. Furthermore, the legend arceus starters had some sort of connections to the inspo of Sinnoh and their new forms added more to the aesthetic
Gators in the famous French sewers baby gator is probably the water starter if they don't got Empoleon
Funny enough... those 3 starters were one my list for what pokemon would be the ZA starters. I don't remember why I chose them... maybe something to do with a previous rumor or speculation... however, I can say the picks are more or less a toss up between the remaining gen 2, 5, and 7 starters. I mostly say this (as I previously said) it makes more sense to give those gen starters final stage forms because of what Pokemon did with PLA's starters and to only have one starter from those gens get something is bazaar. This would also mean that the theory of 3 Legends games would make sense. The starter toss up I feel is going to be Meganium/Emboar/Primarina or Feraligatr/Serperior/Incineroar
For those who don’t remember you got to pick one of the gen 1 starters half way through the game so we could see 2 sets of starter’s remakes
Well my theory of the starters in ZA gonna be Chikorita (final evo dragon grass) an armored dragon with the ability similar to bullet proof, piplup (final evo fighting water) and fighting general who would have the ability that would turn all debuff into buffs, and litten (final evo fairy fire) a fire stage actor/ actress with ability that would simply to pixel where it would turn all fire moves into fairy moves.
I'd like those starters it would be tough to pick from their current type etc if tepig wasn't fire fighting idk if I'd like it as much
1 big flaw with this prediction that the author did not account for in selection process that has existed since the beginning of Pokémon. Type match ups. Flying and electric make sense but fairy would be an odd man out type up. No pro/con relation to the other typings. However! Ground would work. As it has no effect on flying. I do think it might be litten, snivy, piplup as well.

It's not going to be the Kalos starters, pretty sure when it comes to the Legends games we aren't going to get the region's native starters as options.

I’d prefer regional forms over Megas, since regional forms have more staying power in the longer term. That said, I also wouldn’t mind it if we just got the Gen 6 starters as the starters for PLZA, this time rocking Mega Evolutions.

I think popplio is a better choice for water starter , Empoleon’s design is already inspired by Napoleon, is it really worth it to do it again but being more France? But Primarina is nothing linked to France but singing, it can be designed to be more into France to match the theme of both France and songs. (Sorry for bad English)
I mean this guy saying the Kalos starters aren't possible candidates is right because they're the native starter option, just like why the Sinnoh starters weren't choices for PLA. So yeah just going off that alone would mean the region's native starters are auto-excluded from the running when it comes to guessing the Legends starters.

As much as I love the Sinnoh Starters, I do agree with this theory that none of them should be starters in Legends Z-A. They've all had a fair bit of action recently with BD/SP and Arceus, plus you can also get one of them from Jacq in The Teal Mask. If Z-A is doing three starters from other regions, I'd prefer if they went with three that have been on the bench for a long time, so I'd actually be fine with Meganium, Emboar and Primarina.

I think that all this is very interesting and I’m going with 50/50 wether this theory is true or not and I think the Legends ZA starters will be Chikoritta I agree with the points also since Valerie came from Johto and has connection to the Kimono girls Piplup because of the connection to Napoleon and also Drasna of the elite Four’s family originally came from Sinnoh and either Torchic since the rooster is France’s National Animal or Litten because Cats are popular pets in High class French Families.

My thoughts on the starters, I don't like his choices, I know I'm weird but really hope there not the starters cause all three of them are the least favorite for me in there respected gen

Most of the times, these people are merely attention seekers who will try hard to deflect or play the ignorance card when their theories are proven inaccurate. That will show A LOT of his quality as a person and whether we should bother about him anymore.

All three of those starters are easily in the top 5 most forgettable starters for sure. Not sure that would be good for sales.

Legends Z-A is not going to be on the Switch 2. It is going to be on the Switch systems. Person who made the article is a liar since BDSP add some new content. Whatever the starters are, i prefer a mixed set with regional forms. Mega evolution is still a bad gimmick and I won't change my mind on that. Tepig or Snivy as one of the starters would be fine.

If they bring back megas they need to either A make megas every game to increase gameplay options or B give ones that can't mega special unique power moves or alternate type changes. Mega evolution definitely limited the mons you can use which is pretty dumb make more megas or don't bring it back

I don't really care who gets in as long as Meganium is one of them. GF could've helped it by updating the hidden ability like they did Empoleon, but they just refuse to even try something like Flower Veil or give it a crazy boost with huge power, 164 attack baby 😂. It got some minor buffs in zen headbutt and body press, but no bulk up or iron defence equivalent to really make that useful. Also, these came at the cost of losing aromatherapy.
Im a frustrated Meganium fan if you couldn't tell. 😂
I absolutely hope that Chikorita is the grass starter for ZA. Just give it a Fairy sub typing and a signature move that’s a grass Lava Plume/ Pollen Puff combo(damages both opposing Pokémon while healing your partner) and it’ll have a place in the meta without breaking the game
