This is my favorite one of the black editions. That samurai case is so nice
When I started collecting watches I started out with Seiko divers. Have lots of monsters.....samurais....a few turtles.,....nice Willard. I have been buying all kinds from micro to GS.
When I saw this Samurai I went back to my watch roots. Had to have it. It is a great watch! Stunning with that lume color. Outdoors it just pops with color. Indoors? It looks like it is lumed all the time. Seiko has a winner with this one.

Would never pay more than $400.00 for a Seiko. There qc issues are notorious. I have a 1st gen monster which I love and a few other inexpensive ones. Grand Seiko is the way to go . Spend the extra

Appreciate battling against the knock off dial. Worth mentioning that Sammy has far more surface area for its lume than something like 63Mas or Willard, those watches would've done far worse against the C3 challenger. Shame that "pro specs" no longer means good lume.
As time goes on, it's more and more that you buy a Seiko because you want a Seiko and like the design. Any idea of getting a better value than you would from a Swiss brand is long gone.
Yes the Sammy will beat the 63 and Willardx in legibility for sure at those "4am wake up what time is it moments" I should battel the sammy vs the willard just to confirm in a future vid. And I don't know if it was my imagination but looks thicker applied on the sammy then the 63 and willard. almost 3d printed on top. Just a couple layers.

I reserve a black watch for GShock watches. I prefer stainless steel or gold for divers.

Don't worry I assume all diver watches are not used for diving. lol! But gold for a tool watch is the interesting part. I like gold for dress watches.
Anybody know, on the turtle, will aftermarket timing bezel inserts fit? I don't want that nav bezel.
Just bought this watch at jewelry store at the mall that sells seiko. They might be hard to online, but they are available in stores. 8000 is quite a bit, these will be in stores for a good while. Wears great, but the OEM strap has got to go. Also for people saying that the Samurai wears too big, it doesn't, it basically has short stubby lugs. Unless you are a pre-teen boy, or petite woman, I'd go ahead and say that most people can pull this watch off.

Thanks for doing the lume comparison. So no difference at all and superluminova c3 is superior. Also, where does it say that the black coating is DLC? I don’t find that anywhere on Seiko’s site nor anywhere else online.
Night vision lume is a bit stronger in person then regular lumibrite. Seiko only uses DLC on prospex iso rated divers. Fully in house process. And the c3 is deep filled so it has an advantage here over just top coated lume on the oem seikos. A deep filled regular seiko lume will beat c3. So it depends on how they applied it on each watch.
How much bigger does a samurai wear compared to a willard?
It wears a good amount larger. Longer lug to lug and larger crystal to appear larger on the wrist. the black version does shrink the look vs the regular sammy tho.

No point designing great looking watches if you cant execute them - no excuse for that chapter ring! Totally kills it. $675 for a defective watch and that's acceptable? Come on Seiko- no more!
