Today I reached out to Dell Technical Support India through call, regarding battery swollen on my Alienware m15. They charged Rs. 5050 for upgrade and battery replacement. Mine also out of warrenty and non indian laptop. But ETA is 14 - 16 weeks for 6 cell battery and ETA for 4 cell battery only 3 weeks time.
I can confirm this is manufacturing defect and dell won't cover it under warranty no matter what. I have Alienware area 51m laptop and has same battery swelling. They don't offer any warranty for battery. They would charge alot of money to change it.
i had a lot of swollen batteries in my workspace, latitude and xps models only, it is warranty supported for 3 years, so most of it is changed in warranty - but we had to buy a lot of new batteries for laptops which are no longer in warranty support. At our 160 people company, i replaced about 40 batteries.
Same problem i have, such expensive laptops and then this issue comes up after year, Did you got a new battery ? if so is it original and what is the cost ?
I too have Alienware 15 r3 laptop, i must say this laptop is absolute shit. Just within 2 year my battery bulged even though I have never used this lappy even once for gaming, just for programming purposes. After changing battery, 2 years later I am facing same problem again.

Yes
Mine got swollen too. It pushed up the touch pad area, i don't know if the area can flatten again. :(
Yes it's the common issue, very bad product from dell. Only price is high.
