what i love about this series is that their deaths were all for-shadowed in episode 2 when they went back home. Ali betrayed his boss and died by being betrayed by his friend. Sae-byeok threatened someone with a knife to the throat and got killed by a knife to the throat. Sang-woo almost killed himself in the bathtub and he killed himself in the last game. Gi-hun swore on his mother he wouldn't attack Sae-byeok, did it anyway, and his mom ended up dead. Deok-su got attacked on a bridge and ended falling off and died by falling of the bridge during game 5. it's a small detail that i just love

Oh Il-Nam was not meant to play the marbles game. He intentionally tried to make himself undesirable as a partner by pretending to piss himself and looking forlorn an weak. The goal was to get a pass into the glass bridge game, but that honor went to "the beauty" Han Mi-nyeo. The real question is the missing three players from the marble game to the glass bridge.
The first time we see the color red-aside from blood-is Gi-hun's hair. Also, Gi-hun gave Il-nam "water," thereby having the "winner" kill the last surviving player. It's only then that Gi-hun uses the $$$, his prize
True; but it is worth noting that he didn’t initially plan on making a second season. It was only after the success of the show that he sat down with Netflix executives and plotted out the future.
I may have mentioned in a comment on a previous video about the difference in color palettes between real life (gray, dingy, washed out) and the game (bright, vivid, lively). Even with all that money, Gi-hun was still just existing in real life; subsisting, still in shock. He had to be prodded to "wake up"and start living his life. The fuscia hair, to me, is symbolic of his choice to return to life, an initial spot of color to push back the gray, the depression, the shock, the meaninglessness. Money didn't buy him happiness. He had to choose to start living again.

He said the scene where the slapper guy (Gong Yoo) went on the train and waved goodbye to Gi-hun (main guy with currently red hair now), they couldn't make the train stop on their own or make it private for filming so they had to look up the train schedule and schedule filming around the time the train made a stop at the station they were at hahaha. They did at least 3-4 takes of the train scene and Gong Yoo had to go on the train and then ride the train all the way to the next station and then wait for the train to come back and get on the train again to take him back to the filming spot again. And he had to do this 3-4 times in a row hahaha. But imagine being a normal person going to work in Korea and going on the train and seeing GONG YOO a famous Korean actor right there next to you! There were a few hints re No.1 - when the policeman was going through the 2020 contestant list, it started with No.2, there was no 1. We never saw him die either. And in the first game, Red Light, Green light when you see the dolls targeting sensor with the red highlights, he is always excluded from it.
Did you all notice, that at the end, Gi-Hun became just like the VIP's? Instead of simply going down and helping the man, he took part of the game, knowing his life was at stake. Interesting, huh?
No he’s not you’re misinterpreting scene, Gi Hun was trying to prove to II Nam/ player #1 that their are still good people in the world even when it may seem that all hope is lost, help and kindness will always be found, ultimately proving to II Nam that his perception of how people treat each other is wrong.
I had suspected the old man for a couple of reasons, but the tug-of-war made me dismiss it. Until someone pointed out to me that his cuffs had no padlock like everyone else. So he could have slipped out and not fallen if they lost tug-of-war. After that I was 100% sure he was a part of the organization. So it was no surprise at the end. I think he always planned to exit at the marbles because there is no way he was hopping across those glass panels.
Ready Player One! - When he was the one who yelled for everyone to stop, on the night of the "Lights Our Massacre" and the Front Man turned on the lights.... I got a ping that he was the man. Totally missed that he would have been an unlikely recruit from the "Slap Game"... Enjoyed your reaction videos! (And social commentary!)
The scene where he found his mom hit me soooooo hard. I have children and that’s a fear of mine. I would hate for them to find me like that. The actor is so good… I felt every emotion. All the actors were great… standing ovation from me 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
21:42 just because they had no other choice doesn't change the choice that they still made. The old man wasn't wrong in his logic that he didn't force anyone to come BACK. Hell there were a small few who chose not to come back
That, and he sidestepped Gi-hun's question. He didn't force them, true, but Gi-hun wasn't talking about that. He was (rightfully) accusing him of exploiting those less fortunate than him. Il-nam talking about how him and his friends got bored with all their money, and instead of giving it to charity, or, hell, setting up a game where people didn't die, they chose the cruelest entertainment, banking on the desperation of people. They let them go in episode 2 .... and then watched them, waiting, until they were at their lowest again, and followed them to their homes to slip cards under doors to tempt them back. All so that they can continue to have fun at their expense.
That's kind of the message of the show though. They have a choice not to go back, but do they really ? What's the alternative ? Suffer and die anyway, just in a different way outside ?
Got all the money but no one to share it with, best friend is dead, basically adopted daughter dead (in my mind she was basically his adopted daughter), mom dead, daughter far far away, and all the other friends he made in the game DEAD, I don't know how I would deal with all that
Horses don't kill each other but if a horse loses a racce they kill it because they only want the fastest. Race horses are abused and used as objects Fun fact: squid game was supposed to be a movie but they greenlit it to a series last minute and that ending was a product of the last minute changes because at the time he wasnt sure if he was going to make a second season but still felt the cliffhanger was a satisfying end because it lets people think
There's a good chance this wasn't the original ending. The writer/director stated he wrote this 12 years ago and then it was shelved for 12 years before Netflix picked it up. There's a good possibility Netflix asked for there to be an opening for a season 2 and a big 'cha-ching' came along with the request. The story's finality came to an end. The only reason to keep it going is for money. This was a monster hit globally. There's only one it can go by trying to keep it going.......
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it already but I remember seeing a comment in another reaction pretty much saying if you rewatch ep 2 they foreshadowed everyone's death the snake tat jumping of the bridge Ali trusting his boss with his life with those 6 months of unpaid labor 067 threatening to slit dudes neck and mc swearing his mom's life
21:43 oh they had. Maybe sympathy was applicable on round 1, before red light green light since they literally did not know they gonna get killed. BUT to return, KNOWING what was gonna happen, with their OWN DECISION, I'm sorry, sympathy is thrown out of the window by that time
I like to believe Il-Nam saw he lost just before he died although he probably didn’t. Maybe that was the message. Even when they’re proven wrong people like this will ignore it.
thank you so much for being one of like, 3? reaction channels among dozens that didn't react to 001 saying he "gave them a chance to leave" by saying "he's got a point" or whatever. just seeing so many people agree with him drives the point of the series even deeper.
I mean, he's disappointed his daughter before. She has a caring family. So it's terrible he has to let her down again. But yeah, got some John Wick work to do. Things she doesn't need to know about. "Work came up. But I can buy you a great present with the money I've made. Sorry I was late."
Season 2 will fast forward 15-20 years to the future. Saebyeok's brother and Gihun's daughter will enter Squid Game and fall in love inside. They will get into the final 2 and one of them gonna die..........
Do another Kdrama all of us are dead if you into zombies and “My Name “ is really good as well. “Alice in Borderland “ this one is more jpop drama you guys might like also which is similar to squid games.
I feel the biggest questionable plot hole started in Episode 2. Shortly after we are introduced to the cop, he is on the phone with his mom, He tells her not to worry, he will "find him" (obviously the brother). He clearly knows exactly where the brother lives, which is some crappy dive of a hotel which is barely one step up from a homeless shelter. The landlord unlocks the door and tells him she hasn't seen the brother in a week. The room is painfully tiny. So wait a second. If the brother won the game FIVE years ago, why is he living in such a state? He was clearly in contact with his family until just over one week ago. In the later episode we find out he is the Front Man and is very familiar with the setup and hierarchy of the tournament and participating freely in a position of command. Therefore he wasn't avoiding the history of the game or his money like our protagonist did. That whole twist just seemed like it was there just for the sake of a surprising twist. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
Just a thought, we all sat and watched this show about people dying for money. All seven episodes and then we watched these girls watching and reacting to the same show. We're the VIPs. Would it be better if we were the participants?
Really enjoyed your reaction to the series. I would highly recommend the K-drama series "Guardian [or Goblin]: The Lonely and Great God" with Gong Yoo, the guy from the train station. If you want a roller coaster of feels, this a good one. Excellent story, great soundtrack, and it'll make you laugh and mad cry. 19:24: I like how y’all have caught on to how if you pay close attention to the rules of the bet, there’s virtually always a way to win the bet with almost zero risk. And in the first game, Red Light, Green light when you see the dolls targeting sensor with the red highlights, he is always excluded from it.
@tconlon251 Missed the tug of war one!
I’m glad you weren’t spoiled on the twist at the end.
354 squad and What We Watchin', seriously give me Living Single/ Girlfriends and A Different World, vibes... Love ya...
The Sang-Wo apology tour can start now…… I’ll wait.
32:38 I usually smoke while I watch and surely have ADD, so my laughter was as genuine as I’m sure it was the first few times I heard that story.
You guys need to react to All of us are dead' seriously !! K DRAMA did it again !!🔥🔥🔥
U guys gonna do All of us are Dead right? Of course u will
Ready Player One!
This series broke my heart man...broke it bad
You want to know what happened to the guy that slaps people in the train station? Watch "Train to Busan!" :)
Calling it now: policeman survives and will team up with Gi-Hun to take the whole operation down
Got all the money but no one to share it with, best friend is dead, basically adopted daughter dead (in my mind she was basically his adopted daughter), mom dead, daughter far far away, and all the other friends he made in the game DEAD, I don't know how I would deal with all that
Horses don't kill each other but if a horse loses a racce they kill it because they only want the fastest. Race horses are abused and used as objects
Fun fact: squid game was supposed to be a movie but they greenlit it to a series last minute and that ending was a product of the last minute changes because at the time he wasnt sure if he was going to make a second season but still felt the cliffhanger was a satisfying end because it lets people think
Arcane!!!! Do it!!!! Also stay away from Arcane! It's going to break you! lol
from the policeman searching thru the records the games are played annually.
I enjoyed going back through the series with you. I really think you’d like My Name. (Think a little lady John Wick)
The Mom is too old to take care of a small child..he's gonna be an orphan again
That’s what I thought too
Guess yall weren't aware that the bright red hair is a huge part of Korean culture 😅
Awesome reaction! Thank you for sharing your reaction!
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it already but I remember seeing a comment in another reaction pretty much saying if you rewatch ep 2 they foreshadowed everyone's death the snake tat jumping of the bridge Ali trusting his boss with his life with those 6 months of unpaid labor 067 threatening to slit dudes neck and mc swearing his mom's life
We knew you ladies were gonna enjoy this show, especially this finale😈😈🔥🔥
everyone loves gong yoo hahaha such a heartthrob
21:43 oh they had. Maybe sympathy was applicable on round 1, before red light green light since they literally did not know they gonna get killed. BUT to return, KNOWING what was gonna happen, with their OWN DECISION, I'm sorry, sympathy is thrown out of the window by that time
They called him in because he’s missing out on lots of interest, much more than us haha
I like to believe Il-Nam saw he lost just before he died although he probably didn’t. Maybe that was the message. Even when they’re proven wrong people like this will ignore it.
This series was great!!! Very sad, but it gives a strange lesson! Enjoyed the reaction! 💪🙏🏽
thank you so much for being one of like, 3? reaction channels among dozens that didn't react to 001 saying he "gave them a chance to leave" by saying "he's got a point" or whatever. just seeing so many people agree with him drives the point of the series even deeper.
Arcane is way better than it has any right to be.
I'd also strongly recommend the netlix show Dark, it's incredible.
Dark is fantastic!
I loved this series
If you like the guy at the train station, you might enjoy Goblin. It was a very popular K-drama.
17:19 This is where the fun begins!
I mean, he's disappointed his daughter before. She has a caring family. So it's terrible he has to let her down again. But yeah, got some John Wick work to do. Things she doesn't need to know about. "Work came up. But I can buy you a great present with the money I've made. Sorry I was late."
you guys reaction to no1 is the fave I’ve seen you really didn’t see it coming 😅. Definitely recommend arcane it is soooo good
5:12 bukola is right! there was a shot in the computer when gi hun was not smiling
Season 2 will fast forward 15-20 years to the future. Saebyeok's brother and Gihun's daughter will enter Squid Game and fall in love inside. They will get into the final 2 and one of them gonna die..........
"Rich people are demons." 🤣☠
I would love to see your reactions to the fan videos where it explains the little easter eggs within the show that people missed regarding 001 .
Do another Kdrama all of us are dead if you into zombies and “My Name “ is really good as well. “Alice in Borderland “ this one is more jpop drama you guys might like also which is similar to squid games.
You gotta check out THE SILENT SEA
11:20 well they do sometimes kill the horses if they are not able to compete anymore.
You should definitely check out Mr Robot next. Just watch the pilot and you'll be hooked!
They also asked him if he wanted to be a VIP at the bank..
A-plus reaction, ladies! twas a pleasure.
Arcane is amazing. I highly recommend it.
Check out All of us are dead next
It’s another very good kdrama on Netflix
22:36: I never took that moment as if I was supposed to feel sympathy, only answers
Just a thought, we all sat and watched this show about people dying for money. All seven episodes and then we watched these girls watching and reacting to the same show. We're the VIPs. Would it be better if we were the participants?
Such a great series and loved the reaction!
Apparently, when Il nam says, "Because I know I'm not going to have as much fun watching as playing," went over these loudmouth's heads.
You all were very insightful and I really enjoyed your commentary and reaction to Squid Game. Nice job.
There was only ever one photo of Gi-hun.
24:05 I had the same reaction 🤣
Loved watching your reaction to this series! All of Us Are Dead next?
19:24: I like how y’all have caught on to how if you pay close attention to the rules of the bet, there’s virtually always a way to win the bet with almost zero risk.
The players (degenerate gamblers with impulse control) always hear the potential rewards louder than the rules. Says a lot about us impulsive gamblers
That is a nonsense that the chinese VIP was there.
They're not allowed to watch Netflix tho...
