I absolutely love & miss my beloved München, especially the Oktoberfest. I have to disagree w/ you on a minor technicality. Several years ago I went back to Germany for one month. While there I went to Vienna to visit some friends. Yes they speak German there, w/a different accent of course, however, several words are different from those in Germany. One evening my Austrian friend said she was going to prepare dinner including Erdäpfel. Since I still speak fluent German, I asked her what Erdäpfel were. Yep, theyre playin them for the boat riders to experience the incredible echo. Have beem in Berchtesgaden for quite some time, if you are there, make sure to hop on one of These boats and visit the Little villages at the lake, you can go hike on some nice paths there and learn a lot about the Königssee ( Kings Lake). There are also pretty good Restaurants over there which brew their own beers and Liquors as well as a beautiful chapel. Visiting Berchtesgaden in General s perfect because it is only about 12 Miles to Salzburg in Austria, another amazing City.
well done! probably the best travel documentary not solely focused on beer and oktoberfest. you really show bavaria in a way bavarians would do! greetings from Munich!
Thanks, guys, for that 10-minute vacation! I particularly felt you brought this week's destination to life. You always do, but for some reason, it was so easy for me to see myself right there in beautiful Bavaria. I think it's because you guys always glean (and show an interest in and an appreciation, and excitement, for) those key cultural references that make each place unique. You also present such a sharp contrast of experiences (e.g., the loudness of the beer halls vs. the quiet of the countryside; the history and tradition of the beer houses, monastery, and lederhosen vs. the modernity of river surfing and a visit to BMW Welt.) Guys, are you kidding me? Those sun-soaked mountain snowscapes and the near stiller-than-still, contemplative silence by the lake were sublime. Two of my favorite storytellers on UA-cam!
Well done guys! i lived over there for 5 years when I was your age and found the people to be a lot of fun to hang out with. Amazing country , amazing people! Still have friends that I go back to see almost every year. again, great video! All the best, Monte
i love bavaria…. it has it all, mountains, forests, history, technology, culture, tradition, and some of the warmest people on the planet….can't wait to get back. If you liked Andechs check out the abbey at Ettal….amazing beer !
I can't wait to go to Munich, take a ride on rail car & off the pretty town of Mittenwald. Thanks guys....watching this gets me even more excited to go.
Tip of the hat to you - you are a tribute to international travel vloggers as you have an individual touch that really highlights the beauty of the regions you visit! Congratulations!
I have been to many of those locations while living in Germany in the '80's well before your time!! It brought back many memorable moments.... great beer and people!!
I've been to Bavaria in winter and summer and I have to say, there's not a bad time to be there! BEAUTIFUL year round! Great video! Now I have to get back there asap!
@@jeremyrobbins8033 This reply comes very late..... No idea if you already went to Bavaria. Best season in my view would be spring, summer and early autumn (hiking, swimming (lots of lakes), climbing mountains etc. Of course Bavaria is also really nice in winter, too - if you like snow and cold weather, and maybe downhill skiing, cross-country skiing.
Great Video, as a Munich and Augsburg Local it was nice to stumble across a Video that focuses less on the touristy Oktoberfest Stuff and more on locals, culture, and landscapes that really make Bavaria special! Thanks Guys, keep up the good work! :)
omg I am so happy that u guys went to Bavaria. I have lived in Bavaria for almost 7 years. maybe u heard of the city Regensburg? I was born there and when I was 2 we moved to Georgia and then when I was 8 we moved back there. I lived in Germany for 7 years and then we recently (almost 2 years) moved back to Georgia. I am so happy that u love Bavaria as much as I love it. my eyes actually started tearing up watching this. and I think the saying u are thinking about is "das Essen ist nicht fertig bis der Mann die Hose aufknüpft" I'm not sure if it's word for word correct but it goes along the lines of that

Germany is so underrated as a travel destination, so nice to see some video from there:) Those lederhosen looked so thick, how do you move around in them.. did you try a pair:)?
OneGirlOneSuitcase We had a great time in Germany! Didn't get to try the lederhosen though. So expensive!!! They looked comfy though, really soft leather!
Lederhosen are pretty comfy, they may be made of thick leather, but over time it starts to become softer. Its just a shame that the market is getting flooded by cheaply made Lederhosen. You can spot a cheap lederhosen so easily and if you go to a real traditional event (NOT OKTOBERFEST), then you may be made fun of behind your back. A Lederhosen is most of the times a once in a lifetime investment and i know many people, wearing the lederhosen of their parents and grandparents. Lederhosen are usually custom made so its not so easy to "just try a pair". Even the Belt-Buckles for Lederhosen are most of the times custom made. So you can have your initials on your belt.
Cant wait to go to Bavaria :) we have booked for the last few days of november and the 1st week of december. Staying at Bamberg, Amberg, Augsberg, Fussen Neuschwanstein castle and Rothenburg. Stopping off at Nurenberg, Munich and Dachau.
+teehtravel when you're in Augsburg I recommend going to the Altstadt (it's beautiful and the history is interesting) and the Perlachturm where you can see the city from above or the Hotelturm where you can eat brunch in 100meter height. In Munich is the Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt definitely worth seeing :)
Vagabrothers in Bayern. Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich diese beiden Jungs auf ihrem Trip durch Bayern einen Tag lang begleitet. Das Ergebnis seht Ihr unten, also den Berchtesgadener Teil ab etwa 6:30 Minuten. Sogar mein Auto is kurz zu sehen...
It's just crazy to see you walking around in the area where i live. Berchtesgaden, Predigtstuhl, Königsee, and so on. I spent there my whole childhood and it's so funny seeing you walking down the street i am going every day to school. It's a shame I didn't met you back than ;) But you definitely picked some awesome place to go! Despite for example the Chiesee or Ruhpolding and some other great place i couldn't decide it any better! I'm glad you had a great time there

I actually am from bavaria, and i live near munich :D it was really fun for me to hear how you pronounce german words ...... I don't know a particular saying, but this is what most people would say i guess : Ich war so voll, dass ich dachte, meine Hose würde platzen.
If you will ever be going to Germany again, visit Regensburg! It's about 1,25h away from Munich and it's got lots of old, colorful bildings and old cobblestone pavements! It's a traditional city, but is embossed by young people. Definitely worth a visit!!! :)
As somebody from that Region i can say that it is very true what these guys said. But there are also other places which are not so widely known. For example the Region around the Tegernsee and Schliersee (two lakes). I can also recommend visiting some traditional fests. For example a "Waldfest" which is a traditional Fest just to meet people and have a good time. But be warned: There won't be many people NOT wearing lederhosen, because most tourists don't know about these Partys. And a small tip: The Hofbräuhaus may be legendary, but it is full of tourists. There are other "Beerhalls" to visit (for example the "Augustiner Bräu", not far away from the Hofbräuhaus). In the Summer you could also visit a "Biergarten". Generally speaking for Tourists: The more you go south from munich, the more traditional bavarian it becomes. So Berchtesgaden and the Tegernsee region is the real bavaria.
Im living at the Tegernsee and i can agree to +MSTRemix. Its just like another country when you are in a traditional city/place of bavaria like the region around Tegernsee.
It's amazing you have included Berchtesgaden 'cause it's not really known, but it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Hope you liked it there! really cool video and thanks for all the tips. best wishes for 2017

Just kidding, have fun.
For us, Scottish is the default accent!
