I like how Austin is extremely passionate about this. You can tell he’s holding back about how upset he is. Honestly I’d watch a series about investigating this deeper.
I'm stupid and misread this as "investigating his diaper". Glad I did a double take.
imagine how real gamers feel
i would like to see thins too
I actually did buy a PC for my son on Amazon that turned out to have old components that were not compatible with each other. It kept on crashing no matter which game I ran. I returned it for a refund, and bought an HP Victus from Best Buy during a 200 dollar off sale for 500 dollars. It’s been very rock solid. Runs everything very fast. 12th gen Core i5 cpu.
Glad you were proactive and got a better system in the end. Best Buy definitely has some good deals on their systems throughout the year.
Wow, that's a really good price for this Victus!
@@Stillxxen yeah if he had paid the full price for it he wouldn't have had any money for rent and would have gotten Evictus.
@@bland9876 i hate that i laughed at this LMAOOOO
@@OPT1M4LLY thank you I try very hard to make people smile.
I can confirm major companies pay people to dispose of old computers and office equipment. I worked for a moving and storage company that had contacts with the "Big 3" automotive brands and you should see the stuff they would pay to have disposed of
Love that you've called out Amazon for not monitoring these scam sites and letting them continue to do business through Amazon's website. Most people don't really know what to look for in a good gaming PC so they often see these listings and think they're a great deal 😔.
I'd love to see you guys investigating the Pre-Built and SI companies to see if they're running scams by overcharging their customers or if they're actually doing them a service.
Like Amazon cares
Linus Tech Tips already did a complete series on prebuilts and SI systems.
Technically speaking, it is not a scam. If the listing of parts is correct (and in most cases it is) , price is not Amazon concern. They could put price of million bucks if they wanted , it is simply caveat emptor. Amazon would actually had to break its own rules to ban these sellers.
Learn to read
GamersNexus has done some great videos trying out pre-builts and they have also done SI companies as well. LTT also has done some good videos as well as the secret shopper videos. I'm glad that all of these channels are raising awareness about these issues.
We rustled Jeff Bezos so much that he bought our entire office and everything in it....
we are now out on the street. :(
ARONNNNN
I notice all the time when I am looking at an Amazon listing that it will have a large percentage of one star reviews but when I click to see the one star reviews amazon says there are none to display. pretty suspicious, it's almost like Amazon doesn't care if third party sellers are scamming buyers so long as it makes them money
Three years ago, I bought the cheapest of the cheapest bogus gaming PCs off Amazon on pure purpose to savage all the components and repurpose them. It kinda worked out to this present day. It had a generic black case I use to build cheap test scenarios, kind of a test bench that can be closed ... then I use the mainboard, which is mini-itx with soldered-on AMD FX mobile CPU for a tiny emulator/SteamRemotePlay machine and a 3d printed compact case, adding an AMD RX550 4GB for basic graphics needs. So this was a very tactical recycling move. I am however very sorry for all the people that bought this "gaming PC" as-is and found out not to be able to play anything on it.
I love that matt pulled out what is probably his insurance card as a stand in for his credit card
There is a use for these types of PC's (not these exact ones, just ones built in a similar vein). I think the Toasty Bros probably build a lot of these lower end, older parts type of rigs, but they also benchmark them, are pretty upfront about what games they can and can't play, and even what settings you need to use to get the best results. Plus, it seems like they probably have much better customer service and you do get some sort of warranty from them.
Doing God's work for everyone who's that family member that gets asked "what pc should I order?"
The bar has been lowered so far that I can now confidently tell them "CyberPowerPC"
And mean it.
You would still ger asked because I always get the "its a Computer, Does it really matter what it has"
So which one should I order?😂
@@theterriblegamer01 the one with the i5-2400, it's got Blazing speed 😏
I get the what computer should I get from in-laws and parents. I usually tell them, MacBook Air so they leave me alone.
What a fun video! I always like the face Austin makes when the intro happens hahahaha

glad that you're working to correct Amazon's issue, its a sad fraud that not only appears in amazon as well. hope you contacted them directly

Thank you for blowing the lid on these scamputers
glad this is still a topic ..keep digging
For 2 seconds there, I thought it was a reupload of that video in the Austin Evans channel.
This channel is so underrated
"2015-2017" I feel personally attacked.
thank you for giving me high blood pressure when buying pc part!
I built my PC from parts from Amazon. A few years back I bought a recycled/refurbished PC from PCsForPeople for very cheap. You have to know the value of the parts, that keeps you from getting scammed. I still use the refurbished PC as my printer and scanner computer. You should make a video about how you can find good deals on Amazon, if you know what you are doing.
You are doing great work,Austen!
And screw all those people who hate on you JUST for that Playstation cooler thing!
Also SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS?!
The ones for $500 were bad enough, but SEVEN THOUSAND?!
You can build NEW PCs for less!
All i could concentrate on was the amazing bacon and egg t-shirt!
Bought a pre-built back when tigerdirect was still a big talking point, had it worked out with my mom and grandma that, that would be all I'm getting in the next two years between birthday presents and Christmas, the original pc was a zues mini from cyber power, i7 4770k, msi 760 reference card and 8 gb of adata ram, tried replacing the generic 600w psu evince even after upgrading since ( ryzen 5 3600, b450f motherboard, 3070 evga ftw3, ram was upgraded to 16gb, both times I've tried to upgrade my psu through "reputable sources" i.e. msi the psu have been doable, however this old generic 600w keeps on chugging
I HAVE SEEN THE SAME DESKTOP PC SPECS AS MY 2011, GOING FOR ALMOST AS MUCH AS I PAID NEW, THE BAD PART IS THERE ARE SOME DESKTOPS BEING SOLD THAT ARE 15 TO 20 YEARS OLD
Soooo. I built my pc a couple of years back. Looks odly similar to the skytech archangel( 7:25 ) . Definitely spent 2k at most with 2 monitors, periferals, 5TB hard drive, plus a new desk. Sheeesshhh
My previous computer was an i5 2400. Mobo died and gave it to a friend for free in 2021. Amazed that they still try to sell them 12 years later as "gaming" PCs
I played on a Nvidia Geforce GT 230 up until 2011. At that point, I upgraded my processor and the Intel integrated graphics were better. I continued on integrated graphics up until 2019 when I basically rebuilt the entire system. At that point, I got a GTX 1080 from a friend for way cheaper than MSRP, even way cheaper than comparable cards were selling for.
origin pc be charging like triple what everyone else does tbf 😂.. i hear they have great build quality and customer support though, tons of accessories too.
Snapped.!! ( Why aren't we doing this) 😂😂🤫😆
10:24: Another reason to buy a PC from a reputable SI or OEM is that it is sold new with a warranty on the entire system. That is not nothing. I would still argue that if you are in that camp a gaming laptop is probably a better way to go.
As someone sitting on a pile of pcs that I have refreshed for work, I can confirm that we will have to pay a recycler to come pick them up.
How I paid rent for my first apartment was; getting a bunch of old dell PCs for free or 50 bucks. Slap some parts and cheap graphics cards. At the time it would play Minecraft and Skyrim on max. Then I would sell it for about 300-500. Leaving now much room for profit in most cases. But rent wasn't high back then and sold a couple a week. Sadly over time computer parts for gaming skyrocketed and no was willing to pay what it cost.
that skytech computer was being resold. That wasn't being shipped and sold by either Skytech or NewEgg. Skytech is a reputable prebuilt. I would say its more reputable than the HP because with HP you're going to get a bunch of proprietary shit in the computer that will make it will make it harder to upgrade in the future. Skytech uses off the shelf components making it as easy to upgrade as any custom built pc.
The 1tb hard drives likely came out of office computers that were being recycled. I used to have an old HP and it had a 1tb hard drive in it.
What funny about that skytech PC is it is a actual PC company and they haven't made the arch angel line of PCs for at least a couple of years now
I bought one of these and spent two months trying to fix the issues. Such a solid waste of time.
I'm glad you made this video, hope it opens some more eyes on what underhanded companys are doing. We need a list of good inexpensive prebuilds, so people don't get ripped off so many times. Just an idea too think about. Great videos about this, keep up the good work...
I’ve got that Skytech with a little better specs and I paid 1200 for it and I love it! Never had a single issue with it and it’s ran every game I’ve tried on it flawlessly lol
I did too, mine has 16g ram and I'm in love
I fell for one of these but it showed up broke so I returned it immediately and got my money back. Bought a pre build from HP directly
i watch your show on an i3 2120 cpu - for the last year - no stutters at 1080p
I'm more curious where they're finding BTX Cases for most Dell BTX MoBo's.
I bought one for my daughter that was to bad in price, about $275. Not really knowing anything about them when I got it it had a i5 4570 and the GPU was a joke. So I already had to upgrade the GPU and the PSU a couple weeks after getting it... I now am learning what to look for in the future.
11:25 Unless it's like a Noctua cooler, in which case there's like a 95% chance you can just email noctua and get free mounting software for your motherboard
Honestly, you can get an older optiplex for a few hundred bucks, and if you can get the right power supply adapters (because dell uses proprietary power) you can put gpus in them and game for about 400 bucks
All Optiplexes I've found here in Sweden are the half witdth ones. Can't fit anything in them basically.
Matt buddy you took all the words out of my mouth pair play
The funny thing about all this, is that my Asus "Gaming" PC cost me $1.6k (that's with tax) and had Ryzen 3700x 1660ti 16gb of ram Intel M.2 SSD 512gb (which sits under the GPU) and 1tb hard drive.
The fan to cool the CPU and the fan to the pull the air out look like something that's from Dell PC's from the late 90s ( but it has RGB😅).
Not to mention the ram cannot be overclocked it's locked at 2666hz or something like that.
P.S. I like to also add the whole thing was set to green power efficiency, translation it's slowing down how every part in the computer performs (well, except for the ram that's pretty much locked at a set speed).
Can you replace the ram? It's not expensive if you can. Also probably a dumb question, but is the BIOS up to date? I had ram that was stuck at 2666 and it was because of an older BIOS, but when I updated it I could get the full 3600 on my ram. The less than funny thing is it was a brand new computer and the SI tech couldn't be bothered to make sure the BOIS was up to date before shipping. If I didn't know my way around the computer fairly well, I'd have never seen that error.
@@Joreel I've replace the Ram with 32gb 3200hz, however you cannot change the hz to be higher then 2666hz.
I do believe they now officially put on their website that you cannot change it, even after updating and all.
All the energy efficient stuff that was throttling its performance I managed to turn off most of the stuff that I know that's "green".
Because they even throttle the internet performance, what should be 150mbps was 20mbps to 70mbps.
Honestly I'm thinking about just building a completely new computer😑
I would bet most of these were constructed in late 2020 and early 2021 when computers were much more scarce and now they are offloading them however they can
Hi from UK I got a pc of a company called veno scorp for my nephew as It had its own website good reviews when the pc come I found out it had a old dell motherboard which can only support a i7 2600k it come with i3 2gen 8gb of ram 1tb hard drive gt710 rbg case it cost £350 at the time then had spend a further £300 on upgrade it work out how much the pc should of cost the pc was only really worth about £200 love theses kind of videos keep up the good works guys
1998 Ford Focus being even close to 7200$ would be way too expensive.
ik right, back in 2018 you could find many 2014 Focuses for under 7k lol
Doing gods work!!!!!
A friend of mine had one , and was a pure lemon , worked fine for .... 2 day maybe and he asked a refund.... and the companie gave him back him money and told him to "scrap" the pc as it was cheaper for them .....
Being fair, the Skytech one is from a third party reseller, their PCs are actually quite cheap and most come with RTX20s or 30s for under $1k
There is a saying I like
"Looks can be deceiving"
I actually got an ad for skytech gaming while watching this video. lmao!
Uniway computers in Canada... They made an entire business assembling computers like this lol
I got a computer on mercari and it works fine. It's a 2013 dell optiplex. But I don't have broadband internet but it's good for retro emulators and surfing the internet with mobile hotspot
There are recycling computer companies that charge out the butt to "recycle" the computers and the resell the parts in bulk to company's that make these.
Old Maybe, Obsolete certainly not. the thing is though this is actually good for local pc stores to make some much needed revenue on used pc's. If a Pc plays a game at 1080p at at least 30fps on med its good enough. I paid $230 for my first P4 when core 2's were coming out so with inflation its not bad especially with a new ssd and ram.
Feels like the big guy is the new face and the little guy is not in charge any more but wants to be
I work in E-waste so the idea you're pitching I will tell you is that it's already being done. Also on a side note, Sandy/Ivy bridge is soo old we don't deem it worthwhile to sell it in bulk to any customer which tells you how much of a scam the pcs in the video are. Company works with Reneal, who enables people in Africa get their hands on used computers via donation and they even get machines newer than the trash they are selling in Amazon. Let that sink in.
For 7200$ you could buy a xeneon oled flex corsair monitor, Gaming laptop, corsair keyboard and mouse as well as a corsair PC with a 4090. Even after getting the following you might still have something left over.
I was thinking of buying one of those 100-200-dollar Lenovo refurbished office PC's then putting in a RX 570 for a first gaming PC for my nephew who is in the 3rd grade.
I look forward to new content 😌 like this 10/10
If someone made a PC with a 4090ti, 64GB RAM, i9 CPU, 1TB Samsung 980 Evo pro SSD and 12TB HDD for games, then how much should that go for as a prebuilt?
Basically top of the line specs. Best of the best you can get right now (I know nothing about AMD)
I expected Matt to have a Velcro water proof SpongeBob SquarePants wallet totally threw me off
Cyberpower did this to me for my first PC a few years ago.
Honestly it’s kinda infuriating to see some of these PCs on Amazon using old parts, and often don’t even make the pc right.. honestly makes me glad I got my pc from a reputable company.
$7k... Time to put that on my Amazon credit 💳
I am using a pc from amazon and its good spec but is shows that you can find good ones aswell
Here we go.
Give it another month, we'll see Amazon selling Zunes with a 2005 Motorola Razr duct taped to the back and an Apple sticker as the 'iPhone Zero'
Need a count of how many times Austin says essentially 😂
What about all the energy saver devices that you plug in to magically save energy.
I'm glad that Amazon is being called out here for allowing these scam PC listings on the site. It's one thing that there are scammers on Amazon but to have Amazon not do anything to remedy the situation. Still, there's nothing wrong with selling PC Builds with parts that would have gone through the eWaste pile but not disclosing that fact is shady AF.
Matt called for a boycott of HP and now there actually is a boycott of HP. He predicted it.
I watch you and Austin's channel. And I'm soo old I remember when the internet came out. I paid for AOL, cost me $800 a month to go online (online $$ by the minute) lmao.
The internet became a public thing in the early 80's though, But yeah, I'm also older than all of the crew.
3:15 $207.22 + case ($50?), amazon charge 15% fee selling electronics. So a $300 price is reasonable if you're expecting the seller building them for free and not getting paid.
Amazon and Walmart sellers do this crap on each other's platforms all the time
what about cyberpc? is this a good place to get pcs?
This reminds me of the Soulja console that was illegal on so many levels 😂
This is why I bought mine from micro center
Am I the only one getting almost all french commercials on most of your videos? Driving me crazy
Amazon cannot do much about this without breaking their own rules. Technically speaking, description of the product has to be correct (primarily listing of parts) . And there has to be money return policy. And that is it. Rest is caveat emptor. Seller could put a price of $1000000 for an i5 from 2012 , and buyer could choose to buy it. Not Amazon concern.
This is why when I want a new pc I just buy parts and build it with my dad
It's really easy to get tricked on the cpu, Best tip is ask someone who knows about computers, if none in your family ask a friend, or visit your local computer store.
not all pcs on amazon is scam I but a skytech pc few years ago for about $800 with a Ryzen 2600 and gtx 1660 ti and its still going strong
Hello there! I was an Amazon employee at one point. I would like to say Amazon themselves are a market place and although yes this looks like a clear scam to gamers and people knowledgeable of PCs by Amazon standards it isn’t a scam because it tells you directly what’s inside so you just have to do some research and see for yourself that it isn’t a good deal. Hope this helps ❤️
I stopped my dad right before click buy on some local site which is full of scams ugh that was close
my 15 dollar optiplex, 75 bucks of mods, runs faster than some of these. it was a year of shopping and waiting for great deals, but it was 100% worth it. runs all the time, never crashes and was only like 90 usd, (around 127 if you include shipping and tax) but i did get lucky with parts from friends, and some awesome ebay parts.
the whole thing wouldn't even that bad to reduce e-waste if they wouldn't sell them as new gaming pc's
9:32 my pc is an hp pavilion from 2017 and its a goat for its cost of $500 (when I bought it)
9:00 HP is reputable? LOL.
7200???? that thing better have 2 rtx 4090 in it ...1 plugged in and one just in case the first one fails
Do a video on dkoldies “refurbished consoles”
SOMEONE PLEAAAAASE TELL THESE DUDES the focus didn't come out till 2000
I've always explained it like this.
CPUs are like car engines. I3 is 4cil i5 is 6 cil, i7 is 8 cil.
An i3 from 2010 is going to be much slower than an i3 from 2020. An i3 from 2020 might be faster than an older i5 or even i7. Don't just buy an i7 because it will be faster, check the age/generation.
wow the cat at 8:23 is so cute i wonder whose it could be
Veno Scorp pre builds 😂😂😂
I bought a cyberpower pc with a RTX 2060 and i5 11th gen for a decent deal back in may last year and it works really well no problems with it as of now
Cyberpower has been around for decades so they make good custom builds. It's these amazon scams that are a problem
Yeah Cyberpower and IbuyPower aren't as bad people make them out to be, and you can actually find decent deals from them (especially when they have a sale and could include free upgrades/extras or include rebates), as long as you know what to look for and know what you're getting into to. For example, they use parts, while new and legit, might not be the best brands or have all the features others do, might use generic ram/HDD/SDD's and also could have have limited upgrade capabilities. Which isn't technically "bad" or a deal-breaker but it is something you should be aware of and not something everyone might know.
While they tend to be made out as complete rip-off's by a lot of the enthusiast community, for people who just aren't interested in or don''t how to choose/buy the parts and build their own PC they are a completely valid option. As mentioned before, they have been around a while and they have built up decent reputations, and will provide support and will refund/replace if need be. But like with ANY big purchase always do your own research and decide what's right for you.
