I have said it before and I’ll keep saying it, Andrew is a phenomenal golf instructor. I have been a Golf Professional for 30 years and I just love how he teaches. I find myself learning from him all the time. Outstanding Andrew, truly. Being a great instructor is not just knowledge, his verbal pictures and delivery is exceptional. Well done Andrew, I’m definitely a fan.
You tube recommended your site as all I watch on golf teaching is Mike Malaska . Two peas in a pod, that L-L drill has transformed my game, my swing feels almost effortless, it’s awesome .
Used to fade driver had years layoff, returned hitting draws and couldn't fade, i could draw in past but liked the fade. Problem was draws turned to hooking, started right and hooked left and low most with long clubs. This video made me realize why im hooking occasionally. Feet together the clubs comes into the ball less from inside and im stacked correct. Ty
Your trail shoulder isn’t getting stuck behind you and the club clearly is more on plane! Much easier to turn through with the feet together - It’s a great drill! Well done! A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
@AndrewEmeryGolf your drill is excellent,it made me realize my upper body was hanging back a bit at times, when it didn't hang i hit the draw. Your drill also has given me the fade too . Ty coach.
love the instruction.. thanks,, can you do a driver lesson? I am trying to do the rhythm but at the moment and still hitting not flowing... will keep trying
Again great video, I think the chief difference between Andrew and other YT instructors is how well he tells the story, with every instruction he usually immediately tells you (or shows you) how to correctly interpret what he just said. That is soooo valuable. PS: I can't see for sure but the sound of that iron is very familiar, do you happen to play the same i525 like I am Andrew? For me personally that helps too, because I can recognize the sound it makes on a pure strike in the video giving me an instant fuzzy feeling. Lovely.
A lovely explanation about speed, rhythm, and tempo. Very helpful for someone who swings hard from the top instead of at P6....I am already enjoying the improvement after viewing this video. Many thanks from Tennessee.
I'm thrilled to death you decided to get busy on UA-cam Andrew. I'm saving for a trip down to see you in the spring. Hopefully I can book you for three hrs and play a few holes toward the end with you. Something tells me it's going to pay off in a big way!! Talk soon, Gary
This is fantastic. I’ve watched hours of helpful instructions and taken things from all of them to fix a lot of setup and mechanics but am hopeful this will tie it together for a smoother more athletic swing. Thanks for your posts.
Hi Andrew I have watched several of your videos and love the way you teach the game I am a little confused when you talk about minimal tension in your shoulders arms wrist hands and trying not to be so aggressive when you begin the downswing recognizing that your arm speed should be at its greatest from the top of your backswing to about when your arms are parallel to the ground I find it hard to understand how you can have soft body parts and swing your arms at maximum speed starting down can you please elaborate
Sure, when you swat a fly how much tension do you have in your joints?!? You’re fast but not tense!! It takes some practice but you can do both! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Good 👍🏻 video and I’m glad to see the numbers has been increased to 4K subscribers from 1k the day I subscribed. Very detailed and informative teaching. I bet you are one of the most experienced teachers because I noticed some of the stuff you mentioned are really what a good golfer skills should have.
Awesome video! I liked how you clarified the grip pressure, that’s something I’ve wondered about. Keeping joints/forearms soft but speeding up the arms and keeping solid grip pressure is something to work on. Thanks for the video!
I’m not a Method Coach, Stack & Tilt if done incorrectly can place a lot of torque on the lower back. The idea of adapting your learning style to one method of swinging makes no sense to me. I believe you should find what works for you Gary! Swing easy, feely, fluidly, and in balance. Your back will love you for it! Thanks for watching and welcome aboard! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Michael, for FULL shots it’s ideal with any club. As I get closer to the green I adopt a more “supported” release pattern! I never drag the handle but I do adjust the length of the finish position based on the distance I’m trying to hit the wedge. I usually align left and hit fades for miniature wedge shots. Thanks for watching! 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Andrew, great videos. Would you be able to increase the volume level in the future? I have my Chromebook on maximum volume and the volume isn't nearly loud enough. Thanks!
"when to create speed". this reasonates hard. i keep hearing snap hard with the hips. yeah, when i do that it doesn't help, it just makes me spin my hips forward. this idea of 'separation', is problematic. watched a video from Padraig Harrington and he said it's wrong thinking. it needs to be all linked and timed together.
Paddy is great!! He’s not telling everyone to do what he does. He knows that weekend warriors struggle to move their bodies like tour players. You have to find what works for YOU! Thanks for watching! Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
I am still puzzled. When l was practicing at our club the distance l was registering for my 7 irons creating the farthest is 115 yards longest only ( it showed on the data machine) though l was using 4 or 5 on my grips and swang faster . Perhaps l was using practice balls. You may think because of body twisting, it wasn’t because l know l can twist my body rightly , and my linear to angular was right watching your video. I am quite sure you have a very good instructional video if not the best will surely 1/2 behind that’s what l can vouch you as an golf instructor. About 9 to 10 instructional coach l have/ had followed. I like gills file because of his methodical instruction especially the placement of balls from using edges, irons, and drivers. I thought before that if you want to want to go to intended target you used your feet to do that but it wasn’t it is your shoulder.
Thanks for watching Ernie! Be patient! It takes time to develop a new skill! I’m confident that with some time and effort you’ll see huge improvement. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Thank you for your reply Andrew. I could really feel that you really care to your students. First time it happened to me that an instructor giving instant comment to my comment. Very well done. You are now my no.1 online instructors in my book. Three years ago it was Eric Cogorno, then few weeks ago it Giles Gill then you took over as you do really care.
Each golfer has a rhythm that suits him. You can't copy someone else's rhythm. I get more ball speed with the feeling of a slower tempo in the backswing. To each his own. Find your rhythm.
I don't believe I've ever heard an instructor say to hold it as a 6 or 7. Actually quite the opposite. Holding it that tightly makes it impossible to keep tension out of your arms & hands. I can't feel the weight of the clubhead with a grip that tight which is my indication of proper grip pressure. The trick is to hold the grip & squeeze as little as possible if you want speed.
Hi Mike - thanks for your feedback. I think context is key here…… In my experience it’s easy to conflate a firm grip pressure with locking the joints in the wrists, elbows and shoulders which of course is a disaster. I’m a huge proponent of activating the joints and it is a (skill) to mobilize the wrists while maintaining good grip integrity! Bear in mind that a (consistent) grip pressure throughout the swing is important. If you’re moving the club at well over 100mph you don’t want to be gripping at a 4/10! If you’re putting and require very little leverage of course you do. It’s an interesting topic for sure. Just remember if you start at a 4/10 grip pressure with a driver, you’re ironically highly likely to increase dramatically as you change direction which could influence the release negatively! I hope that makes sense and thanks for your comment. Best! 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Hi Michael, that’s the point. Most swings have a violent disruption with the body in transition. That often causes excessive tension in the joints. If you relax your arms and swing easy the ball mysteriously goes further! Less tension allows the arms to swing freely and the wrists to articulate which creates a lot of effortless speed! That’s what this video is demonstrating. Thanks for watching. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Your content is excellent. Please review your sound quality (volume) before you post. Its so low I have to put my phone to my ear and then loose sight of your instruction. 6-19-23

One major difference: The Grip. When I used Mike’s grip, I hooked the ball. When Andrew changed my grip, everything went straight!

When you say arms work down does that mean pull your arms down?
Arm speed early is key!! It’s not releasing early - Quite the opposite, faster arms creates more lag! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
