    Coach Andrew - These ideas work. I’ve been working at your ideas for a couple months. They are very effective and bonus= no back pain. I feel like I don’t use the body in transition. I turn back and then swing down while staying turned. That’s a feel. That’s not what actually happens. But I now feel like my body actually stabilizes me as I release through the ball. It’s the breaking action of the lead leg, as you say, The body is reacting to the arm swing instead of vice versa. I no longer lose my balance through impact. And it’s impossible not to swing slightly from the inside. The over the top stuff comes from too much body rotation too early in the downswing. Working great. Keep preaching these ideas. I think this will help a large number of golfers.

    Your concept of a feeling of fast hands and arms and a “slower” body has been a godsend for my back , at 58 and a 6 hcp it has made the game so much easier on my body and I believe I’m a better ball striker because of it

    I had an over the top swing. Then started to practice dropping the hands more and less body. It took about 2 years of practice before I saw results. Initially my strike got worse and just gave up on it. Every instructional video talks about it so I knew I had to keep with it. I just want to encourage others that you need to grind some practice time with this. It will improve your strike. This is not a few sessions at the range. We'll it wasn't for me. I loved the mustard reference...lol made me laugh. My kids would not like it. I'd have to change to something like put some chocolate sauce on it. Thanks again for the videos.

    As a fellow PGA teaching professional I want to tell you how much I not only agree with your teaching method/style/swing, but that you have a great way of explaining it. You always acknowledge that there are other ways to swing a golf club, and that there is a body driven swing but it is more complex and generally not for the average golfer, so don't bother chasing it. But I really like how you explain that, yes, the body is somewhat involved, but not as much as people understand. And yes, the arms and wrists play an important/critical role, but that there is a marriage/synchronization/blending of upper body, lower body, arms and wrists. Keep up the good work and realize you have a fan in Toronto Canada.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  4 місяці тому +1

      David, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. It means a lot when I get comments from my peers. I’m walking a fine line between the body driven coaches and the CFI guys. I just don’t believe it’s either/or.
      I think a sprinkle of both based on the student you’re coaching makes a lot of sense. Elite golfers with hyper mobility looking for more club face stability v Recreational golfers that are inflexible looking for more speed! 80% (+) of course fall into the latter so that’s where I’ve parked myself!!
      Welcome aboard and thanks again for checking in! Best, A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

      @@AndrewEmeryGolf the vast majority of students I teach (over 30 years worth) generally struggle with the most basic components, which is why I also teach what you are teaching, not withstanding the Golf HOF is filled with that exact swing. When I get a client who has a decent swing and index, together we review their swing and discuss the options. If they present to me a body driven swing we will work together on that method, buts it’s rare.
      Lastly, both swings require learning, regardless of method, so I teach what I think is less difficult. If only I can get them to take 70% of the tension from their hands, arms and shoulders of which I am sure you know what I mean.
      Nice chatting with you.

    Hi Coach. This is a great drill. Very effective. I am a 77 year old who has been struggling with. "body" swing for a few years. I have always had trouble rotating; always got balk bound and my body essentially stopped once I struck the ball. Just discovered your channel and your videos on linear and angular momentum have been a revelation for me. I am actually hitting through the ball rather than at it. Quick question on wedges, which I struggle with. Do you incorporate linear momentum on your wedges at different speeds (back swing width) depending on yardage to target? Do you have a video that covers that? Thank you so much. I am really enjoying and benefitting from your content.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  4 місяці тому

      Building a wedge matrix is really important. The backswing remains fairly constant. It’s the through swing that varies in my opinion! Matching up the length of your swing to the trail foot is critical. I’ve attached a lesson that hopefully explains in simple terms the concept! The release should feel the same. Don’t transition spin!

    Andrew, I have been checking you out for a couple of months now - I'm subscribed and committing now to your paradigm. I have struggled mightily with getting to my left side - when I play poorly (most of the time), my weight is back and I fall back. The sequence of my swing changes from one swing to the next, trying to "fix it". I'm hoping the tips/drills in this video (L to L and Closer drill) give me the platform to do just that. I'm heading for the Sim now to get started.

    Tried this in the game, it facilitated stability. It’s not easily doable separating lower body from upper body in the down swing; as I speed my arms faster I lose sight of the ball but more importantly is creating tension; that’s why I think my lead arm braces me from falling , I believe. I need more time to unlearn the old and then learn the new.

    Hi Andrew, love the content and I completely agree with you philosophy on the swing. I’m having wonderful results from the “unpacking” of the arm hand structure. I do get out of sort on occasion with it and am just wondering once at the top is the feel literally arms straight down behind without the feeling of turning? Hope that question makes sense.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  3 місяці тому

      Hi Jason!! That depends on the golfer! 80% of golfers get horizontal (turn) too early. In other words they transition spin which throws the club out and over the plane. IF you hook the golf ball then dropping the arms may not be as helpful!
      People that hook the ball usually have too much vertical (tilt) and not enough horizontal (turn) as they change direction.
      IF you’re like 80% of golfers that slice and/ or struggle with speed then, yes….Stall the spin phase and drop the arms!!
      Hope that helps!

    Another great Job coach !! Just two questios to take the drlls to the range. 1. from the top of the backswing when you say low arms (verticals ) where point the grip on that initial way of the downswing (trai foot, ball 🤷‍♂️) ? 2. And from there where do you “feel” you realease the club (on video looks pretty on líne but you draw it amazingly 🤩). greetings from a fan of your work 😜🏌🏽‍♂️🇦🇷🇦🇷

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf

      Butt and of club at ball target line in transition. But they feel may vary depending on the students swing pattern! Start to release the club around P5 without spinning the body. Simply allow your arms to employ your body as you continues to turn through the ball.

    When I do the old L. drill or the hitchhiker drill I hit pulls to the left and your shots are dead straight or with just a slight little draw. What am I doing wrong? Could you help please?

      Start by putting a head cover slightly outside the ball. Miss the head over! It’s quite possible that you need to swing a little more from the inside!!

      Could I be release my club looks like it is closed at impact / face is closing before I hit the ball? Your Thoughts.

    extreme closed set up [closer drill], weight forward, feet together L to L release,..its Jim Venetos with a release. Jim does not teach release and the reason I quit him and pissed him off. I blocked-pushed many shots and he blamed horizontal right shoulder coming over into impact.I'm a 5 handicap and 69 years old. Please understand your "Mustard" emphasis can produce horizontal" kill" tendencies?? Very difficult to "keep back to target" when you are espousing "mustard"..the drop into your box has to be vertically "soft" not "mustardy" I think?? For example, very hard to add "Mustard" with feet together drill and stay balanced? Please make a video on how to " USE MUSTARD and STAY CLOSED THRU IMPACT".. Same as KEEPING BACK TO TARGET that you mention and which is perpetually mentioned on UA-cam [ but cant be explained by anyone but Venetos] . Will your BOX DROP Vertical With L to L Mustard keep the majority of us CLOSED?? I think you are the best teacher on UA-cam

      Thanks for your comment. And, the summary - The “Box Drop Vertical with L to L Mustard!!” That’s quite the hook!! 🤣 I don’t like to over-instruct but I believe that the vast majority of golfers need to educate their hands arms and find a release pattern that works for them.
      Whenever you’re ready let’s do that online lesson we discussed. I’m confident I can help! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🙏🏻
