I painted SOOOO many houses in the Moscow-Pullman area, and all around the Palouse. 18+ years. So many different companies, including UofI Residences, and my own small shingle as well. Retired in about 2006 to go into something less hazardous. Pulled out my 440i to help a neighbor yesterday (packed in mineral spirits to keep from freeze damage in storage) and it had a tough time keeping primed. Thought I would have had to rebuild my whole fluid section, but it did build up pressure nicely once you hit the prime valve and got the paint up to it. From your video, it sounds like my lower fluid section just needs gone through, and hopefully just cleaned out and lubed up. Thanks for the video and for taking me back!
I can't thank you enough guys! I rebuilt the pump and was still having the same problem. Seals for the pump were only $20 so it's not a bad thing, but now I know where the problem must be. I love your videos!!!
Thank you guys.. That video helped me bcoz my machine hade that trouble and i did nt know how to remove that prime knob..you heled me.. thank you again..
Thank you so much for making this! I have the same sprayer giving me trouble and thought I needed to have the pump rebuilt. You guys just saved me a ton of money!
Thanks for the instructional. I keep a gutter nail to knock my ball loose on the 400 upright. I let your disaster happen to me one time and one time only. Luckily I had a new Graco for a spare that day. It seems like the titan balls don't clean very easily. I make sure that it isn't stuck before every use now. I ran across your video looking for a gun rebuild tutorial. The paint store manager used to rebuild mine for free while I took a coffee break. So I never bothered to try to learn how until now. TFP
Great video very explanatory !!!! thanks guys I’m now living in Argentina South America I have a titan XT440 working extremely well for 10 years and I just have that issue this week on a big job spraying water base poliuratene coat on a Tin roof..... thanks again guys you’re really save me my day !!!
OK, enjoying your videos, and I noticed that while pulling the pressure prime valve, there is a lot of paint. What is the best way to clean off paint ? Both fresh paint and dried up paint?? I have a gun which sat for over a year with paint on it. Trying to clean that of as well as the sprayer pump itself. Thanx, keep up those videos!!
Thanks guys . You saved my day . And btw my pin was regular nail . Not sure if this is how supposed to be . I replaced it with eazy to remove one for future cleaning
Hey quick question.. do you need to adjust the brass part of the valve by tightening or loosening it? My new valve came with it only halfway screwed down. Thank you 🙏
Ii bought an older Graco without a gun ,how much water should come out of the hose without a gun on it ? It primes and runs water out of the hose but it's just a small stream ,I just want to make sure it works before buying a gun thank you
Help help help!!! I've watched your bids on this. ICANNOT get mine to prime!!!! Large check ball is clean. Large hose and return hose are clear. Not sure how clean I got the prime valve from this video. Anything else?????
@Idahopainter Any info you can give for a titan 6900 that won't prime. Units been sitting for about 6 months. Any help is useful at this point. I do appreciate your dedication to helping others in the trade.. More often than not we see so many blow and go company's that don't respect the trade..
Do i have to tighten my guard and extension on the gun when I spray with a wrench or just hand tighten? If i tighten to much with a wrench it makes it impossible to straighten the guard and tip, thank you for all your help, just bought a titan 440 and it's so much fun, wish I bought one sooner
Do you strain your paint before spraying, I have used my Graco x7 to spray interior doors and walls but used only Sherwin Williams and didn't have problems with junk in paint till today. Using supplied paint from a manufacturer I had never heard of and the sprayer did not like, it clogged the strainer in the 5 Gal bucket of paint ,the tip Graco X517.and the gun filter. What a mess i couldn't spray 10 sq ft without cleaning strainer. I am going to strain it with both the pan strainer and the bag style and try to get this latex cleaned up. I am spraying a barn so only 65 gallons left...good times
Always strain your paint tight mesh for oils and solvents and wide mesh for latex plus check your filter if using latex make sure filters are a wide mesh and if using oil or solvents make sure its a tight mesh
@@emilioreed3667 Once I told the home owner about the chunks in the paint he said it was from a paint recycle factory and was told they strained it so back it goes and the barn will have to wait till spring.
I wonder if this will work on my graco sprayer. I've been having priming issues. It will take forever to start priming. Like it has week suction. I've cleaned everything but I didn't think I could take that apart to clean it. Thank you once again for your videos.
I have the same sprayer. When I plug and turn it on. A yellow light come on and stay on. But the sprayer wond do nothing is like is dead. Some one help please
Yeah, but it's not that fine of a filter. Anything 1/32" or smaller is going to get through the pickup screen. That prime valve orifice is small enough to suffer problems from debris right around that size, and a lot of paint can get dirt in it at the factory that might mess with that valve. Or even if it got left out in the sun for too long. I've found it helps immensely to filter/strain your paint before you work with it. Also keeps spray tip clogs down to a minimum.
My graco contractor hand piece is leaking badly. Got a needle replacement kit for 84$ from SW. Do you know of a "how to" video on disassembly and repair on the needle and tip of the graco handpiece? Thank you.
Where is it leaking from? could be as simple as the head gasket if its the packing it would just spit badly not leak from my experience ive had it leak from my head coming loose or the gasket seal inside of the head from not being swapped out when i change products
Anyone know what else could be wrong, i can not get my 440 to prime, ive changed the filter in the gun and the filter that goes under the rig, i just cleaned the valve but it still will not prime?
That's a Titan 440. I've had one for 20 years and never had any problems with it. I was just looking at this for future reference. I paid about $800 for mine, laughed to myself this tiny things not worth that, but the salesman said it an excellent airless. 20 years later. And no problems, I'm sold on this airless.😃
Chris my wall is bricks and I tried some parts of the wall and I can see all marks. Any idea that semi gloss become low sheen? I can’t return the paint coz they put colour on it. It’s 15 litter 😔 The dulux says put semi gloss as first coat then use low sheen a second coat is that ok?
I've not had to do that yet. But good to see it done. One thing about self employed painters, it helps to be good "problem solvers", and making decisions quickly. (Perhaps a topic for a video). Even with the skills of a painter, priorities is also key. What's most important in life? Painting allows me to be able to focus on other areas of life, even thinking about the big questions, like Origins, Meaning, Morality, and Destiny. I would not like to make it through life and not prepare for the afterlife. To me, Jesus answers our questions, and further study can be made by checking out Ravi Zaccariah videos, and reading the book of John. God bless.
Every painter I've ever met, with the sole exception of one, was either a Jesus freak or a drug addict. Sometimes both. And neither iteration was trustworthy. And BTW, what's best in life is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

Just got it cleaned on my T4010 sprayer, as there was a bit of pressure loss from the prime value.
Glad it helped

Something stuck in the lower ball

A little brown /green plastic tarp under the pump would contain the leaked paint. Other than that, Good Video!
Also to keep from losing parts
I went to WAZZU so I love the intro.
