I've messed around with this gen civic a little bit, you are in fact able to keep the original mileage. The speedo comes out and you can swap in the OG one into the new one, thus keeping the original miles

just scrap the cat and get a aftermarket manifold with no cat, but do the sensor trick with the sparkplug no deflowers, so you trick the ecu to think there is a cat.

Love this series and that is a solid car. I've found that new idler pulleys are inexpensive and it is not usually worth pulling a used one. What was the cost difference for you on it?
I used to have a weird noise whenever I turned on my ac and my clutch grenaded on my dx hatch. Another thing to listen for is the input shaft bearing, the bearing will sound like dragging bearings and they like to explode in the transmission
On the pulley, it looks like an off the shelf bearing is used. In the future, look at the identifying part number on the pulley bearing. They're usually $3-5 for the same/equivalent brand. Pressing them in/out is easy.

5:04 Why don't you change the bearing that goes inside the pulley? now that you have 2 pulleys you can try doing it without fear of success

Just buy a skunk2 header
There is 4 small screws in the back of the cluster that will allow you to remove your current speedo to the new one. Will take you 2 mins to swap it.

You can also upgrade to an LX cluster but rpm redline is different then the ex cluster
