I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that always seems to crank adjustment wrong way first. Nice video. It a shame the don’t machine that area a bit more so lip didn’t build up.Doesn’t really serve much of a purpose except for rusting.
On the ebrake adjustment. I leave the star adjustment backed off on both sides secure the rotors with a couple lug nuts. Then I apply the brake pedal down 1/3. Then I go underneath and adjust the shoes till I can’t turn the rotors. Then release the ebrake lever and check to see if the rotors spin When hitting the rotor face so I do not miss or damage a stud I hold the brass hammer between two studs one hand then I hit that hammer with a heavy steel with the other. Acts like air hammer and the brass does no harm on the rotor
I screwed up the parking brake on the old F350 years ago because I didn’t know what I was doing. Nice to see this video so I don’t screw up the new one.😅
you rock dude i'm gonna do this once fall hits here. my 2019 has a shake when slowing down, coming from the rear end. previous owner warped em!! bought it that way.
I just did a full set of powerstop rotors and pads on my sons car, while not a SD the kit was awesome, i love the coating they use on the rotors and the braking is smooth and quite.
I’ve never had any luck (long term) with anything from any manufacturer that was drilled or slotted… wonder what the actual weight of the OE versus the drilled aftermarket…. Seems the more material, and possibly the metallurgy has a lot to do with how long they last and perform in general….having said that and having used both a few more dollars for the OE is worth it to not have to take all apart and do it again. To be fair I usually get over 100k on factory brakes, I drive like an old man!!!
Except on a SD, I have had PS brakes on 3 F-150 trucks, a 14 Flex and 15 Focus. Best damned stopping power I have ever had, and never had a brake issue. Easily got 120 miles on one set on the F-150's.
Had powerstop on my 2019 for 3 years now, only have 41k on them and no issues. I tow a 14k 5th wheel about 6-8k miles per year. Love the stopping power and zero dirty wheels
Interesting video. Just a point of clarification, the use of "emergency brake" was abandoned, for liability purposes, and replaced with "parking brake" decades ago. Similarly, the term "fire wall" was abandoned and replaced with "bulkhead."
Definitely not my first preference regarding rotors but definitely the right way to get that task done. Don’t forget to spay everything down well with brake cleaner!
Thank you, Aaron. I swapped the stock rotors and pads, all four, to Z36 PowerStop on my ‘19 F350 SWB last month. I’ve pulled our camper a couple of times since the replacement and would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend and I was not compensated for the cost, just an honest opinion. Furthermore, I had a plethora of experiential questions and found the team at PowerStop very polite and friendly. BTW, unrelated question, do you have a video for a ‘17-‘19 CP4 to S&S DCR Pump Conversion?
I tried to loosen my park brake on 2015 F-150. I got the actuators a bit free. When I put screwdriver in I hit a “wall” of tin? Cant see star wheel but I was on the ground.. also I couldnt follow your adjusting action. Pry down to loosen i think
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I replaced and adjusted the parking brake shoes on my ‘21 F-250, but they wouldn’t hold the truck on a steep hill no matter how tight I made them. They held on small hills but not steep ones. Are they all weak like that, or is something wrong with mine? Braking surface was clean and shoes and all the springs and whatnot were new.
Would you have happened to turn any wrenches on ssbc brake calipers? I was planning on swapping my fronts out for their 6 piston setup and they make a tri piston for the rear.
Nope no need to adjust. The oldies did because they wore out. These are just holding brakes......and I guess in an emergency but who actually does that
Great video, since you have these on your on personal truck , do you notice a big difference in stopping power? I know you said you hated the brake dust on the factory brakes, which I do too. I’ve been eyeballing them online for my 16 Platinum. Just wanted to hear from someone that already has them.
What's up ARod! Got a few questions for the master of the SuperDuty! For background I have a 2018 6.7 Limited My first question is what's up with the fuel gauge not reading the whole tank? I ran the truck down to 50mi to E and when I filled the truck back up it only took about 27 gallons. I know I have a 36 gal tank, so does Ford just keep an 8 gallon reserve for some reason? Im guessing maybe to protect the CP4? Would there be a way to change the reserve value with Forscan? Second question... How many miles should I be getting between Regens? It seems like my truck will go into regen about every 300 miles. Even when pulling a 9k trailer, it doesn't seem like it goes into a passive regen. Is there any reason that the truck wouldn't go into passive regen or am what I seeing is perfectly normal?
ARod, just did all 4 on my 2019 F350 with the Z36’s…. NOW, I have a soft pedal… I’ve checked for leaks and even bleed all 4. Still soft pedal. FYI.. only have 9K miles… I know… but I only heavy tow w it… that’s why the Z36 upgrade. Any ideas why the soft pedal. I did the brake-in too… (40-10mph 5 times, blaa blaa blaa). Thanks. JG
That's really strange that you did a break job before you bled. All the breaks and you had a soft pedal. I could Understand that scenario if you open the hydraulic circuit. That's really strange
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod yep, agree… never opened the system… pushed back the pistons, then new rotors and shoes…. Then the brake in and still a Soft pedal. So I bled them for the principal… drove it today for 20 miles… won’t kill me but they’re not right! Any chance I messed up the MC?
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod 9,800 Not my daily driver.. I only drive it when I pull a heavy rig. That’s all I do w it… so I upgraded all 4 wheels w new Z36 rotors and pad
Great video again!!! Next time please put your safety glasses on when you are hammering the rotors. I don’t want my bud to get a shard of steel in his eye. 😂 👍🏼
I have never adjusted brakes with the wheel off. Dont get as accurate results and I adjust them by spinning tire and adjust till I hear light brake drag
The testimonial states he did not go through a regen all winter. All the literature I've seen says the ford will force a regen every 500 miles regardless of soot level. I've also observed the forced regen on my 2019 at 500 miles multiple times.
Ford has crappy brakes!!

Best channel on UA-cam. You explain everything perfectly!
Your videos make me love working on my powerstroke thanks bro
I appreciate that man
If I was describing how to do rear brakes on the F-250/F-350 it would be just like this! Bravo 👏

123000 miles on my rears. I’m ready to replace with the powerstop. Perfect timing for this Vid.

Great video as always. Do the new electric e brakes have any adjustment or once put into service mode they just retract?
I think those just suckem back in

Hmmmmm. It should be able to hold the vehicle with no issues
I always clean up the threads on all the studs and do a light coating of dry lube.

They ebrake isn't self adjusting like the "old" rear drum brakes correct?
The old self adjustment of backing up and it adjusting.
