Welcome back to our channel for the latest insights into agricultural conditions, market movements, and industry changes. Let’s explore some key developments affecting the sector this week.
    Rainfall and Temperature Forecasts
Recent weather patterns have brought beneficial rain to parts of Iowa, Wisconsin, northern Missouri, and eastern Nebraska, while early morning storms affected Missouri and Illinois. Over the next 5-10 days, variable rainfall is expected across the Corn Belt, with the western areas receiving more moisture compared to a drier eastern region. This divergence in weather conditions could impact crop development differently across these areas.
    Global Wheat Market Dynamics
Russian wheat prices have recently declined due to unexpectedly good yields and minimal frost damage, contradicting earlier concerns about dry weather and frost. As a result, Russia remains a competitive player in the global wheat market, offering some of the cheapest wheat available, which could influence global pricing and export dynamics.
    Brazil's Soybean Crop Forecast
The USDA's attaché in Brazil has revised down the soybean crop estimate to 150 million metric tons due to flooding and lower yields in various states. This adjustment is slightly lower than other predictions, indicating potential tightness in global soybean supplies, which could affect market prices and export volumes.
US Corn Sales and Biofuel Industry Challenges
A recent flash sale reported 100,000 metric tons of corn sold to Colombia, reflecting robust demand for US corn. However, the biofuel sector is facing challenges, with major companies like Shell and BP pausing expansion due to market downturns and technical issues. This slowdown highlights the volatility in the biofuel market and its dependency on stable government policies.
Tyson Foods Adjusts Antibiotic-Free Beef Offerings
Tyson Foods is scaling back its antibiotic-free beef products due to the high costs and market pressures from rising cattle prices. This strategic shift reflects broader industry trends where companies are reassessing product lines to balance consumer preferences with profitability.
    Pandemic Flu Vaccine Development
The US government is investing in the development of a new pandemic flu vaccine, with Moderna receiving significant funding to target multiple influenza strains, including the bird flu viruses. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance public health preparedness against potential flu pandemics.

More rain over night. Rain predicted for 5 out of the next 7 days. Corn is all over the place, from 2 inches high to waist high and from dark green to yellow and drowned out.. Still impossible to make dry hay. NE WI.

Rain gauge fingers are getting sore here in Southern Minnesota. Ordered a corn reel for this fall. Brace roots aren't, but 6 inches in the ground. Pulled a 4' corn plant out of the ground like it was a potted plant. Beans are gonna get fungal infections and die before pod fill. We're F**ked

We could use some of that rain here.

Southern MN corn that is 2ft tall and yellow the first week of July will do well to yield slightly more than the drowned out areas, much less be good corn. And with the lack of heat it needs a frost later than normal as well. And no, the lime green corn isn't some new genetic breakthrough.Just a couple tips for the 70 mph crop evaluators.

Central Canadian prairie crop is behind. At least 10 days to 3 weeks behind depending on location and planting date. Some areas are excessively wet. Biggest concern is if we have an early fall frost. It would be devastating.

Have a great weekend. Last night was a bust again for rain. I sit in that 90 region of your map. Starting to wonder about moisture here. Even as I sit 2.4" ahead on year, after 2 years of drought I think much has gone to recharge subsoil. .

South central Wisconsin. Corn is 7-9 feet tall. Beans are excellent where they didn’t get drowned out. We’ve had some decent heat. 16” of rain since the first of May. Got all the corn and beans planted by May 3rd.

Every field of mine in MN will trigger crop insurance at harvest... If it even black layers, which right now, the math and forecast says won't happen before killing frost. Planted in April, too cold and too wet ever since.

nw central ohio, [we were in a moderate to almost severe drought. ] we had a couple recent small rains recently this last week. 1 of the particular late planted fields i've been watching , it's done. we had about 6/10 of a inch and this particular corn field rolled up and has never reopened. that field is done. its mid calf and tight as a cigar. if it ends up doing anything, it cant break 85 bushels being generous.
early planted beans look ok. on time planted beans the recent beans , with recent light showers are perking up a little bit. still bare spots inbetween plants and some areas still look xtremely thin. but we're seeing some branching earlier than normal. the late planted beans , that i know of, i havent driven that way recently. . the big guys that knocked the wheat off early arent double cropping. with the price of beans and cost of planting. its just not worth the risk.
last i heard the wheat contracted , was short quite a bit and havent seen any other standing fields in the area.

Crops prices are pathetic in Western Canada. Our costs are out of hand, like the Canadian guy posted a frost would be traumatic. The trade doesn’t give a rats azz what our operating cost are at.
Personal with crop insurance and hail insurance .. the white combine can come in the next 3 wks. I can make way more money with a hail storm. Pretty sad when a farmer has to hope for that.
Have a good long wk end guys, we just had ours.

The flooding in MN and NW IA cannot be downplayed. But out east dryness hasn’t hurt anything yet and where dryness during vegetative growth means big roots and shorter plant . Then you have above average our west where moisture is always needed. Looks like a good crop coming with that setup. Not blow it out the top, but trend absolutely.

Mackenzie said biofuels costs 2 or 3 times that of fossil fuels. I think it more accurate to say biofuels, specifically Renewable Diesel costs 2 or 3 dollars per gallon more than fossil fuels not 2 or 3x that of fossil fuels. Nevertheless, still reliant on govt subsidies.

We had our first rain since we finish planting of over more than one inch. (1.4") That was on the 10 th of May. All other rain events we have had were 1/2" or less. Mowing the lawn is every other week deal, and the blue grass in full sun was brown weeks ago. Idiots in Chicago see rain predictions and think they are true. Bull shit on that.
