This is an excellent and accurate instructional video- with one exception. The wrench size for removing the fan clutch did not match my 2010 4.6L Explorer. (And I ordered the wrench size specified in the video- so I'm out a bit there.) My fan clutch has a considerably larger nut size- but I didn't measure it, so can't provide guidance. I wound up using a large adjustable (crescent) wrench to remove & reinstall the fan clutch. Other than that, the video is a big help, and is spot-on. Thanks!!!
I found this video AFTER I replaced my thermostat, water pump, radiator, upper/lower radiator shroud & upper/lower radiator hoses in the same session. This video showed it as easy as it can be, with the right tools, how to replace the water pump and fan/fan clutch assembly. It was nice to find that they used the same vehicle as mine (tough to find good videos on my car). I borrowed and used the exact same tool setup from a local national chain auto parts store. Knowing how to take off the hoses helps too. Embarrassingly, I broke a clip on the tube going into the throttle body because I pulled instead of pushed. It still clamps on, but it’s proving to be difficult to find the Correct replacement for it. In all, good videos on this channel and I’ll be back for more. Thanks for reading my rant.

Y’all is amazing y’all show exactly what you have to do y’all show it all.some people on here just show you the basics that’s it.like I said y’all is amazing thank for the information
Great video! I'm working on my Ford Explorer 98 and its a hasel because in order to access the clutch the radiator needed to be removed...tonorrow I'm going for the clutch tool it's 3x Skinner than a ratchet I need a 1"1/4 for my bolt
At 5:13 when you remove the pulley bolts, I actually found that if you remove the belt first then you don't risk the water pump pulley coming off early and banging into your radiator, etc. I tried with the ratchet over the center of the water pump and it would still just spin. So, I took the belt off first, then remove the pulley using the fan clutch wrench that fits over those bolts to keep the pulley from spinning. Loosen up all the bolts on the pulley, remove the tool, then take the bolts out. Much easier and safer in my opinion. Had I not done it that way, my pulley would have indeed popped right off once the bolts were out. The 05 4.0L v6 Explorer has 14x8mm bolts all around the water pump. It also has 3 hoses attached to it. One goes to the thermostat housing. One to the rear/front heater cores and one to the lower radiator. Great instructions by the way!
Thank you so much for this video! Mine ended up being stuck in there pretty good with rust. I ended up having to squirt a liberal amount of Free All around the edges and take a 3lb blacksmith hammer to it to finally bust it loose. Everything else went very smoothly.

What size wrench did u use to hold the bolts I don’t have one that goes over the bolts but I have the correct fan clutch wrench set can u respond within 48 hours before I have to return the tools thank you‼️🙏🏾
Only problem is I don’t have a 2000 dollar car lift or a special wrench 🔧 to take the fan off. Good grief Ford motor company if your going to quit making dependable vehicles at least make them essayer to work on.
We have a video for the water pump replacement on a 2006 Ranger, but the process should be very similar on your Explorer. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/JW8Ie9QCA9o/v-deo.html

I know nothing about vehicles and changed mine today. No lift and I rented the part from a car store to undo the fan. I bought the big wrench too.
