Well just wanted to let you know That I started fishing salmon river in 1977 and steelhead the same year...I have not been fishing up there in 22 years...but I am coming up 2022 to give it a rumble again the first week of october..
Sometimes it does get busy and crowded but sometimes you can be all by yourself. People filter in and out all day where we were. The best thing about where we are is alot of people respect others and will step aside and let your fish. They said because of the pandemic and more people being home, last year there was alot more people on the river. We talked to people at the shops and they had so many people who couldnt do their usual fishing trips because of being cancelled due to covid coming in having never fished the Salmon River.
That time of year the river gets very busy. That is a good stretch of river and fish can stack up or just push on through in that area. Everyone one there is usually pretty respectful and watch out for one another. We see a lot of the same people there every year so it’s kinda like catching up with old friends. I really enjoy helping people land their fish so there’s times I’m walking up and down netting fish.
My fiancée and I are heading up in mid September. This is our first time on the DSR. The past 2 times up there I’ve had no luck. Hooked into one. It seems like it is less crowded with way better fishing. We are spin casting with single eggs and sacks. Will that do the job?
That will work fine. I’ve used egg sacks and single eggs on noodle rods for years up there. There’s a lot of good holes and runs on that stretch. Just be patient and don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s a great thing about the DSR, there’s a lot of great people willing to help out and give advice.

I really want to go up and fish but I can’t stand being near that many people fishing.

I fish the same spot for 35 years now every year in sep lower in the Joss hole
Seems weird to me to just see lines of people fishing the same spot. Just expected there or do people end up fighting a lot?
