The video doesn't make sense with respect to the lyrics ? Could someone explain how it compliments the lyrics ?
My interpretation is that he's singing to his dark side, or his "shadow." He doesn't talk about the Devil as an outside force, but as an aspect of himself he has to learn to live with("I made my own hell"). The video is about him having the hots for this chick at the pool(he notices her as soon as she comes into the video, just as the song goes, "something's calling for me"), and he's essentially contemplating the feelings that rise in him("I should learn how to live, because you won't go away").
We all have our devil. The important thing is how we deal with it. Even when the pool-chick "came after him" he just smiled and walked away, went home with his honey in the end.
