Just got a deal on a Lynskey GR Pro after graveling for 7yrs on a steel Specialized Sequoia. I ride road, MTB and gravel bikes but if I had to choose only one then gravel 100%. Running 45mm tires and low pressure I can take my gravel bike on everything from pavement to single track. Nice memory of your friend. Only bad thing about dogs is that they leave us too soon.
Sweet dude you're gonna love it! Hope it takes you on many amazing adventures. Thanks 🫶🏽 couldn't agree more about our 4 legged companions.
My GR Pro with AXS mullet will be here in a month. I can’t wait. And yes, I get so attached to dogs. They are like all the positive parts of humans without the negatives. Just have to remember what a wonderful life they lived with you.
@f1hotrod527 couldn't have said it better myself, dogs are the best. Thanks for watching, stoked for for new bike day!
I got a GR300 about the same time as you got yours. I'd never had a gravel bike before, but wanted a "It's just a bike to go anywhere" like you. I got the "adventure" fork so I can mount front racks. Lynskey has a good idea of what their buyers want, I think. Sturdy, practical, surable, not necessarily the flashiest or lightest frames. I ride it to get groceries, over some surprisingly technical single track, long road rides, and yeah even gravel roads. I'm looking forward to doing some touring on it, too. It helps me remember what it was like to be a kid and not think "enduro, xc, hardtail, road..." but just ride.
@iamarocketship couldn't agree more, it is the definition of just..."bike" and it does a really good job at it😂
Such a nice tribute to your pup at the end. ❤🩹
Thank you friend ❤
Fellow GR300 owner here. Where you used blue trim, I used orange trim, and it came out great. I installed Ultegra 2x11 cable shifting. I have it built up with 2 sets of wheels. 1 set of fast wheels, 28mm with carbon rims and tubolitos. Makes for a pretty good road bike. Another set of "phat" wheels, 38mm with gravel kings and Mavic openpro alum rims. Then it's more of a gravel bike. I love the feel of Ti. I find myself seeking out rough roads so I can ride over them.
@JeffCrawfordInTokyo sounds like a sick build dude! I agree the compliance of Ti grew on me so fast I had no idea it was this good
Kings and Lynskey- killer combo.
Couldn't agree more, between the aesthetic and the functionality🤌🏽
Somehow I missed this video (I've seen just about all your uploads) till today when I was researching this bike. I just pulled the trigger on a GR300...Lynskey is running an amazing deal right now with 45% off! Also....the part at the end with your pup...ooooofff, right in the feels!! Hope you're still enjoying your R300!
@kramonut oh snap thanks dude😂🤝🏽. The GR300 is such a beautiful bike, congrats on your new bike day coming up! ah yeah my old man, nothing better in life than a sweet old dog.
P.s. new video dropping tomorrow🤘🏽
Oh man, the end... this hit hard. We have a pup who is going to 19 now, but less and less herself. I am gonna be crushed when she goes...
Aw man I'm sorry to bring up the feels. 19 is already an amazing life, the stories that dog could tell! Just enjoy the time you have, friend🫶🏽
Love the build. My Lynskey is on order, and expecting delivery in 2 weeks. Can’t wait.
Sweeeet! Stoked for you dude!
I have a GR300 with Dt Swiss ER1400 and I use it for long distance on the road. Very nice bike ! Regards from France
Sounds like a beautiful and well used bike!
Beautiful bike and beautiful dog... sorry for your loss
Thank you! Appreciate you, homie🫶🏽.
I bought one last year, thing eats gravel. It is so much fun. I like what you did with yours.
Heck yeah, it'll definitely treat you right for a looooong time. Thanks dude!
I have an r300 and gr300. Great frames and ti ride! Yes you need to cut the steerer tube ASAP. I recommend you get a proper compression plug that covers the entire stem clamp area. I found a stress crack in the steerer tube this spring while regreasing the headset bearings on my gr300. Never crashed and properly torqued. Lynskey offered a replacement at a reduced cost. The steerer tubes on all these carbon forks are the weakest link and can end up killing someone or seriously injuring some and some all-ready have. Sad there is no other option or a better design around the steerer and clamp interface. Been in the sport since the 80’s so I’ve seen it all. Durian rider has a good video on this topic.
Interesting! That's really good to know, thanks dude. Yeah I'm gonna get it to my shop soon😂
Nah, it’s just for fashion bulshet wanting to look like pro. If Lynsey specifically says on their manual you can put in 40mm spacers underneath the stem then it is safe. The rest is just wanna be pro bs 😂
I am so scared of riding with Carbon Forks. Seems that they are spec'd on nearly all mid to top range bikes and are now unavoidable. Unless they are bomb proof, they should not be on bikes. Companies should at least give us an option on a material that will not fail and send you 360 over the handlebars into traffic.
@dd776 I ride mountain bikes primarily and I've yet to have an issue with carbon. I trust it 🤙🏽
@@dd776 take the fork off and inspect the steerer tube for cracks or noticeable areas where it feels like its compressed. If you find any, buy a new fork. There is no warning before carbon fails. If there are no signs of a problem you should be good to go. Buy a good compression plug that covers the entire clamp area and DO NOT OVER Torque. Buy a good torque wrench. Check it once a year when servicing the bearings. I just put a rockshox Rudy on my gr300 and I’m now carbon free.
I love my GR260 been on many tours with it.
Can't wait to start doing some on this one!
got a second hand van nicholas skeiron at a very good deal. super happy with it. great joy to ride.
Sweet sounds like a great bike!
Dude, that bike is 💣
Thanks dude, I'm so stoked on how it come out!
Dude! I got one this year! I love it! You should get the Ti seatpost, or run dropper for easy on and off
I really want to run a dropper but I wasn't sure if that was just my mountain bike brain or if it's actually a good idea😂. We'll see what kind of stuff I get into with it! Congrats on your new one too!
Nice bike!! I was told never to have spacers on top of the stem when using Carbon Forks. Carbon steerer tubes need to be fully supported by the expander, in the area where the stem clamps the steerer. If the steerer extends far enough above the stem, the expander will not be supporting the clamped area of the steerer, leading failure and a dangerous situation.
Thanks! That makes a lot of sense when put that way, I'll look into it more for sure.
I also have a GR300 that I picked up on sale in 2023. I built mine with Ultegra/GRX. It’s a fantastic bike! This is my 3rd Lynskey and I highly recommend them.
Sick dude, the build sounds like a beaut. I can definitely see why you've stuck with 3 of these!
Now that you’ve got s taste for Ti, time to get a modern Ti hardtail😁
So good for the trails around here, especially love it at Patapsco.
Awesome bike though, looks like fun!
I REALLY want a hardtail again and that may just be the route I go, idk the way I ride mountain bikes I need a good frame warranty😂.
@@splooshmtb I can definitely relate. I’ve cracked hardtails of every frame material😂
I will say that when I cracked my Downrock, Curve got a new frame to me within a week despite being all the way in Australia. So yeah, warranty definitely matters.
@matthewbenedetti490 hah exactly. I think realistically my MTB choices may stay limited to big brands for that reason but who knows!
Oof. I have an All-City gravel bike and have had an R300 in my shopping cart for a week now... thinking I could keep the gravel bike a gravel bike and have a nice new (surprisingly affordable) dedicated road bike. Sorry to hear about the pup.
@stevenmurphree n+1 rule of bikes 🫡 never too many. And thanks man, he was a certified good boi 🫶🏽
very nice bike sir... i got a Titanium CX bike too which is made by Lynskey 10 years ago. :) its my first time build myself bike.. i wanted the GR300 but im okay witht he Kona Rove Ti now :).... and i have a dog now who is 2 years old.. makes my eyes teary everytime i think when that day come :(....
Konas are sick, didn't even know they made a Ti frame, that's really cool. Don't even think about the old days, they'll come too quickly, enjoy these young days 🤙🏽
Congratulations 🚴💪😍
Thank you!
Sick build im lookimg for one my self and i will go ride with you my amigo
Let's do it brotha!
Yo!!! Sick new whip Zane. Looking forward to seeing what cool new adventures you take us on. Do you think you would try a dropper on it for single track rides? RIP Judah!
Ayooo thanks Sage, loving this thing. I kind of want to, but I also kinda wanna keep this as a raw light gravel bike without a dropper, so maybe not? Maybe if I score one really cheap.
Love to Judah.
@@jasonurroz570 🤝🏽❤️thanks brother
if u start now, i'll see u here in a few days 😂
Challenge accepted, I'll be early😂
You the reason why i got a gravel again got one before but didnt like it much and after watch your video i was i need another one lol and i done already 3 rides and same single track trails and yea sir so much fun
Yeah buddy Jesse! Love to hear it dude. Being underbiked on trails is fun, and being fast on gravel is fun.
@@splooshmtb elvis want to ride c&o canal we should do it
@jt_mtb1 yeah I'm down for that, I want to make a video of that ride so I'm waiting until some better weather
Anybody have issues keeping the seat secure and level on the Lynskey Ti setback seat post? Built/assembled per Lynskey spec... but tilts back during test rides... Thoughts?
GR300 owner here. I have had similar problems. The saddle would tilt backwards when riding on bumpy terrain. I think my bike guy used some locktite or similar product to resolve it. Obligatory, use a torque wrench.
Sorry to hear about your dog.
Thanks buddy, he will be missed.
this or the litespeed flint
They're both VERY similar frames, I'd go with whichever you can get a better deal on or if you just like one more than the other😂
