    Hello Tanya I love your video and history lessons. My Grandmother used to tell us stories about the wood houses with thatched roofs. She was apparently born in the region in 1913 in or near the village of Dubrinich which I believe is only about 15-20km from Uzhorrod. I only recently discovered this fact because I found some family papers from her daughter (my aunt) after she died who had kept them. My grandmother emigrated to the United States in 1922 with her parents when she was 9 years old. Their names were George and Julia Fizer (nee Bodak). I know that there was a large amount of family still in the region from my Great Grandmother because I know she was one of 13 children. The family in America lost contact with the family members in Europe after WWII after Julia died in 1950 because no one could read Slovak and by then the region was behind the Iron Curtain. I would really like to visit one day and see the area and perhaps even meet cousins that are probably still there. Thank you for making the video

      Wow, what a history!! I think that is amazing that you know so much about your family background. I know very little about my family roots. Former USSR was not into keeping the family roots unfortunately. Hope you can visit Ukraine someday and meet your family 🙏

    Thanks for the video Tanya, it looks like a great place to visit. People tell me that my adopted city of Dnipro has the longest embankment in Europe, but it's not important, both Uzhgorod and Dnipro are great places to visit.

    • @ArtistTraveller
      @ArtistTraveller  3 роки тому

      Yes Alan you are right. The longest embarkment in Europe is in Dnipro. While Uzhhorod has the longest lime alley, which is basically lime embarkment. Thank you for commenting and watching the video:)

      Uzhhorod is fine so far, it’s far from the front line. The city is rich with history and many many stories of families who used yo live there before WWII. Thank you for your support 🇺🇦🙏
