"That's still hot".... 🤣🤣🤣 been there before.
I live there
I have been as well many many times lol
In England , we say " f-me that's heavy " when dropping a hot piece
Haha been there before plenty of times and i will go there plenty more
You know what hot metal looks like?....A lot like cold metal.
My OCD is going crazy when you center punched that cross off center
I'm certain I will remember that punch later for no reason and it will piss me right off.
I know he was quick down and dirty but my CDO is killing me over marking center, then center punch they're both off I think the center punch is actually center and the Mark is off to the left, I wish there was an after center punch that I could line up better with the corners to see , but it's definitely in my toolbox now and I can't wait to use it in fact I'm probably going to practice this afternoon using it and seeing how I like it, so thank you for the trick👍

15 years later and still learning things that make the day a little easier.
Yeah it always pays to learn new things from new people i found no matter the age difference )
Casually, “that’s still hot”. Haha.
. . If I had a dollar for .. .
Lol!
Haha been there 1 too many times
Who needs fingerprints anyway.

😂 you caught that. I thought I was smooth lol.
Came for the rotator..
Mind blown by the chipper hammer use
"That's still hot" that moment you feel so stupid for grabbing metal you just welded. I have had this stupid moment to many times 😂
Jason, sometimes the simplest things produce some amazing results. Great tip. Well played!
The problem I have with this is that you have to use your hand, so no filler rod. I played around with a trashed microwave and took the rotator plate out of it. Another idea is the a simple battery operated setup using a cordless screwdriver with a gear and mounted to a plate.
I'm so early I thought that this was a "This old Tony" video!
No, 6061. Com!! Haha
same here 😂
Yeah but you seen the one where you actually see old tony ? :P
Been missing him the past couple of weeks but hopefully its just a winter pause or something.
Another good tip and great video as usual. You could also lightly tack the nut under the table and have the screw going through it and sticking up through the hole in the table. That way you could have the point just sticking up a little bit above the table or have as much height adjustment as you need. Hope this could be useful to some welders. I use the little Miller STL 150 Tig welder and it's been the best welder I have ever owned. At 13.7 lbs, it has come to work with me on the back seat of my Honda VTX 1800 many times. I know many people have probably laughed at me when they saw it, but I don't care as it has given me many overtime hours of work I would not have gotten without it. Thanks for sharing. Dan
Very nice!
And my mind is already running with modifications and improvements.
Thanks for sharing!
Ive had this in my notification panel all day until I got a chance to watch it. Awesome piece of advice! The boss I work under is full of little tips like this and he also loves learning little new ones so this might very well become a new workshop "hack."
Thanks for the video!
I was welding something one time. My boss came in, picked it up, dropped it and said "That was heavy!"
Wow if only sooner, glad you took the time to share this with us Jason.
Play Safe from Elliot Lake Ontario Canada.
no filler though, might work for thin gauge work
That a brilliant. Like the use of chipping hammer too👍🏼
That’s brilliant! I did something similar once using a large ball bearing pulley as my work surface and then using a magnetic dial gauge tool holder to mount the tig torch in perfect position, then it was just tig foot pedal and manual rotation while filling. Came out beautiful on some 2” stainless weld pipe fittings.
I keep a 20in or so 3/4 round disc at work with a dot welded on the center, best lazy susan for welding.
Love the idea used it few times definitely need gloves with good dexterity to keep a smooth turn and always found its worth a few cold passes before hand
Outstanding. Good people still OUT THERE.
Hello Jason, as with all skilled workers, they know little tricks, that help to get the job done. Although I am not a Welder, I am a Joiner, and all my life the little tricks have taught me a lot. Great video's please keep them coming. Geoff Lewis, Wales, UK, 🏴🏴🏴
Wow.....cool hand Luke!! I’ll bet you tested out of the BFH welding test your first time. Ya probably didn’t even flinch, just kept on welding. Thanks for the tip!!✌️
Awesome tip! Thanks for the awesome content as always 💪
That's still hot" ....Well played 🤣
You guys have the clearest welding close ups!
Done similar....
That's still hot😂🤣 when I was just a wee little welder.. I could weld a few sticks on a piece, grab it bare handed and check it out.. I was a tough little bastard back then!!!
I got in trouble in high school for hanging out with a friend in his welding class.. (I never went to school to weld, I was doing production welding and custom repairs when I was 14)
So.. the trouble was, I didn't belong in that shop, especially welding 😂🤣 so the instructor said "ok smart ass, let's see what you were welding". LMAO 🤣 careful what you ask for!!! I grabbed it out of the vice (bare handed) I looked it over for a few seconds, tossed it to him.... Yup!! You guessed it, he could sure say a lot of words in a very short time!!!!
I did the same thing to my dad once.. only thing that saved my life then, was I hit the lock on the shop door on my way out!! Gave me a little more head start👍😁😎
You didn't punch that hole center🤦♂️lol
He was center, then he moved a bit.
Great tip! Thank you.
Put the bolt in a drill and get a good centered grind fast and easy.
I did learn from that. Simple and easy way. Very much appreciate it.
I use to have to weld large heavy projects as a maintenance welder. Now trying to rotate 50kg sections on a bench was tough. So I use to stick nuts under the centre to pivot around.
Wow great tip! I definitely see myself using this in the near future
Hell yea.. Juanito great idea.. awesome that he gave respect where respect is due.!
It helps a lot I've always got to macgyver that's a nice one for rush jobs with time constraints.
Great idea and easy to make, thanks
Nice little trick. Gotta like that kind of stuff. Thank for sharing.
Cheers Fred
That is such a cool tip. I'm envious of that everlast mts welder. I've got one of their first gen mts welders. Real nice but I'm sure yours has a few features I could use.
So simple but useful!
Nice idea! Im getting ready to weld up a few tubes.
Hey, Toughbro, what about mig brazing?
And yes, that's a very helpful tip, thanks a bunch!
Thank you very much for simple n grate tip
Another tool to put in the ol brainbox.
Things like this is what the internet is great for, thanks to Juan for turning you on to it, and thanks for turning us on to it.
Excellent tip dude! Will implement this for sure!
Semper Fi!!!! Thank you for the tip
Little tricks like that add to your skills toolbox. Thanks
Lov it + will use it!
Thanks
Good idea, a little more tricky if you hold filler rod in your free hand.
Please do a video on building a roll out wheel that incorporates a lathe chuck.
Great tip! Thanks.
Good tip, Now I was wondering fi you could do a lesson on mig brazing (silicone bronze . i have some fancy patio furniture chairs which need some repair and i think mig brazing with silicone bronze wire will do the trick. If it was a one only tig brazing would work but there are too many pieces to be done. The patio chairs are thin steel not aluminum and I don't what to melt the parent metal at all.
Soo sweet thanks helps me im in college welding now
Nice, definitely applies the KISS principle
fantastic tip- thanks for sharing
check txsviking's rotary table made from scrap... manual. pretty cool.
Thanks for a simple yet useful tool idea.
bro. d
Nice job, and a great idea
thats so simple! wow, that will save alittle bit of time but definitely increase the quality of the welds by eliminating stops when rotating
What about making a roll out wheel for the shop for handling larger items?? More expensive than that method but would be helpful for people not familiar with them.
Good idea. Thanks
No filler rod was harmed in the making of this video
Never to old to learn.
What if need to use your other hand for filler? TSViking's foot powered rotator is the most simple cheap and useful welding rotary table I've ever seen.
Large ball bearings work for that, and you don’t have to Center point your piece 👍🏼. I’m a mechanic as well and save large bearings just for this.
Hey, whatever happened to Bob moffitt, he's been gone quite a while now
I was wondering the same thing. I hope he’s well.
@@maxjones9139 he's a good guy, and a fellow southpaw
That got me thinking, if you had a rubber cone mounted to a windscreen wiper motor and a variable speed switch to it , you'd be able to position it over the dead centre top of it with a jig and let the weight of the motor and assembly provide enough pressure on the cone to workpiece to Turn it leaving both hands free, although I suppose one of the free hands would then be adjusting the speed control
Look up TSViking on YT for the best cheap and simple rotary table. It's foot powered.
I’m definitely going to make one
Thanks for sharing!!
good tip. Thanks
Changed the entire game 🤷🏻♂️✌️
Awsome! Thanks for that!
Great video thank's 👍
Was wondering if you could do a video about tig welding stainless steel exhaust say like a motorcycle. Do it with filler and without filler. Im curious if it will hold up on a bike without usin filler rod
Can show more vides on tig weld for auto body thin sheet metal....weld on patch panel... tip tricks welding setting etc
Great tip!
Enjoyed the video
Simply genius
That's still hot 😂😂. Great video
I've done the same thing by grabbing a center punch in my vise.
Great tip
Cool idea. I don't know how you can grab anything with those mittens though!
Good tip cheers.
yup gonna do it
Awesome cool, great advice 👍👍
The “That’s still hot” technique I’ve definitely gotten down for sure.
That centerpoint punch wasn't most satisfacted
Who's behind the camera on this one? This looks like a new lens or filter, something isn't right, Jason your shirt looks edible bro.... I forgot I ate some mushrooms lmfao 😭😈🤦🏼😂

@@wicklash9065 Shut yo hatin' ass up. Live life you douche...
@JohnnyRingo always wondered how my welds would look like on Acid.
Very cool idea
What about a variable speed drill on low. Like real low. If they go that low I think that would be a good idea if you could get a drill on the other side of the bolt
This is one of those things that sorta kinda works.
When marking material the width of the mark comes into play because after all it's only an optical reference actual true center could actually have been where it was punched. If You going to be that critical please lead us to Your channel.
I like the way you think 🤘🔥
seems like the weld would be undercut adding no rod. if you don't have a lathe consider mounting the bolt on a drill press or even a hand held drill to grind it, would be easier and give a better result.
Hi, what gear do you use to film the welds so close?
Thanks for the "tip"
I wanted to get a welder to have around my shop to do repairs and some hobby work. I was amazed watching you because I didn’t see any fumes, smoke or splatter coming off your welding. I think you said you were using a “mig” torch? I didn’t notice you using any welding material either just the torch. It looked like a cold welding setup. I have asthma and I’m worried about the fumes. What would you suggest I use?
He was using a TIG torch without any filler rod there.
Use a ventilator fan or fume extractor, will do a pretty good job keeping smoke away from you. There's some high dollar ones, or you can set up a homemade rig too
A nurse at my pcp's office was talking one day about the time he was in highschool shop class welding something. They had a pile of metal to work from and someone threw a piece of hot steel onto the pile, he grabbed it and it burned his hand so badly that he had to get skin graphs on his palm.
He still doesn't have a finger print on two of his fingers.
Workshop safety is very important, don't throw hot steel onto a pile people are pulling from. Wear your gloves. Most importantly, don't endanger yourself by being stupid.
Good JOB 👍
A neat idea.
So what happens if you need to be adding filler wire to the weld?
What to do with the center punch afterward? It is not leaving a nice surface🧐 I use a flat surface (thrust) bearing and an old wheel brake disc. Not much more expensive but leaves the surfaces nice.
