What an opening!! It has been a while since they've made a game that sucks you in like X.. This is the kinda opening that makes your jaw drop, pumps you up and lets you know you're in for some ride... Bring on Versus 13!!!
I remember seeing a trailer for FFX on tv when I was younger. It was pretty much this FMV up to the point where Tidus flips into the air. He sees Sin, stares in shock then the screen goes black and says 'You decide what happens next' The trailer doesn't seem to be on UA-cam.
i have only played final fantasy 8 (and loved it) but im nervous about buying another final fantasy game because of voices. i loved just listening to the music and sound effects..... good memories
The last classic Final Fantasy in my book XD! One hell of an amazing game, the first person narrative the story took up blended in well with all of the events that went on. Not to mention the battle system, the turn based not time reliant battle system was really fun, it really made me think of all the possible moves I could make in battle and how it would affect me in future! I love this game, of only square can re-invent the magic that made this so great, and put it into FFV when they do it.
A bunch of people started a game of this after school when it came out, one of those "swap out whos playing while watching" things. Everyone else was cheering and saying this opening was awsome exc., I found it more symbolic and deep. So much symbolism and imagry to take in, but most people think "OMGZ THE CITY BLEW UP IT WAZ AWSUM"
My top three are probably 10, 8, and 6. 10 is my favorite because the relationship between all of the characters was so well written in the story. Also, SIN! Definitely the most intimidating thing to ever be in Final Fantasy!

But I see what you are saying, they even had an anime series in Japan based on FF7 but I mean overall I think the storyline with the summoner's pilgrimage and her guardian becoming sin, it was a far more deep storyline than simply Sephiroth wanting to destroy the world and use Cloud like a puppet. I mean remember how much of a shock it was when you first heard about Yuna having to sacrifice herself? Also the temples were very fun.
So far this is my favorite FF game and I've been playing since Nintendo was invented. I haven't played after X2 so I don't know about the others. This was the most awesome opening by far.

So ya probably the main reason. And i was just ranting about the number's, pay it no mind. But ya i doubt square gonna get any better just cause they (repeatedly) replaced yoshinori after 13 or so.

No, he's talking about the Pilgrimage: the whole storyline. If you play it, near the end you find out the true nature of the Pilgrimage... that a summoner has to give their life to create a calm. Yuna doesn't die, thats the whole point of the story, Tidus finding a way for her to live, while they still defeat Sin once and for all. The second version, where Yuna doesnt die, is X-2

No other game made can compare to this in terms of a complete package. It is the best FF of all time and also the only game EVER to make me have a tear in my eye and also feel sad that i had completed it, as i wanted it to go on forever. If you Haven't played this play it.

Also i would assume they had no definite plans too since they couldn't guarantee it, with no more of the original staff. There's also squares remake of the FF series is a rather recent event compared to when that promo came out (starting from 1, to 2, to 3, ect).

i don't know if you've learnt any but the best way to beat it is to use lightening magic, like in luca, but without the crane. If not go to an area with monsters and get your overdrives ready they can take a large chunk out of its health
