7 Second ZL1 Camaro??? Twin Turbo Big Block!
Вставка

- While a lot of the car's cosmetics are still stock... the power plant definitely IS NOT! As if its not impressive enough to build TWO of the worlds fastest street cars, Larry Larson has added this BEAST to his build history and cars to complete the Drag Week torture test!
After purchasing this beautiful ZL-1 brand new off the lot, Tom McGilton, the owner of this crazy Camaro called up Larry and asked for some BIG upgrades. Upgrades including and a brand new 540ci BIG BLOCK, boosted by TWO 88mm turbos. Somehow, Larry managed to keep a sleeper look to it. While the giant 33” tires or parachute could be a dead giveaway..the last thing we would have expected to see under the hood was a twin-turbo big block!
WHY NOT??? If you notice the plate on this monster, the owner was repeatedly asked "why would you do something like this to a brand new car that's already fast?" so many times that he made it even easier to answer!

What a BEAUTIFUL machine, built by Larry Larson - Raced by owner Tom McGilton
+Brandon Bassani agreed. seems like an unnecessary waste. maybe he didn't intend to pull the motor from the start. hopefully......
+jason shuler. ok I need to watch the video completely before I comment. this guy must be loaded. wow
+jason shuler one thing you learn from watching UA-cam... A lot of people have a lot more $ than us.
+Meat Amigo go to college and stay single is what he said.
Absolutely badass. My goal is to own a camaro like this one day.
the rear end looks like it could survive an apocalypse
Ahaha hell yeah! you could toss a grenade ad that fucker and it'd still run.
Yeah run right into the scrap yard on a tow truck
but why?
Now this is the definition of a nice streetable race car. Not crazy loud and full interior. Very nice Camaro!!
Love how seeing the pass from the front at first you hear the whine and whistle and as soon as it gets close it's roOOOAAARRRRRRRRRR
Damn that is nasty and looks so badass with 33s
I love how "what's under the hood?" Is never followed by "how much does it put down?" When the answer to the first question is "twin turbo big block chevy" , because everyone knows it puts down enough...
I love 1320's comments, so many clueless people
+PilgrimTitan GTR fanboys like coming out of the closet in the comments.
+Denis Jackson yea it's really stupid. I love the gtr but some people go way too far to defend it. Just gotta give credit where it's due
+Shotgun Arms Lmfaoooo
@@donut3110 this camaro is pretty dam mind blowing im very impressed with how well she just hooks up warps time
Wow that's got to be a fun ride
wow 7 sec camaro and he still has the old ZL1 motor to throw in a old project car lol
+FTIdeas All he said is that the guy still has a zl1 engine.
thats a great point haha, didn't even think of that. Hmmm, C10 would be nice
+C Wilson or a white first gen :)
So how is that getting over excited.
+FTIdeas you couldn't be more wrong
That thing hooks crazy good
That's how I'm spending my 401k when I get there.
I have the same 540 and twin turbos in my everyday s10 extcab, and im never late for work anymore!!!
Very nice build=clean and runs straight!
Nicely done , and probably not even pushing it hard with that combination...
It is impressive how much power GTR's produce at a smaller displacement but at the end of the day the v8 sounds sooo much better.
The number plate says it all :)
i have a feeling he might have voided his factory warranty... lol
That car is not messing around. Man!
You know that you are in CRAZY territory(or not so much for you guy) when you're in the 7s!!! wow, awesome car.
He spent all that money for a zl1 to go and make it a drag car ? Guess some people got money to burn
love the tag lol "WHY NOT"
Thats a pretty serious camaro right there.
After the first pass I was thinking "someone should tell him he has more traction than what he thinks, then he rips the other runs. Badass car
oh yeah!! this car was impressive!!
I do own a ZL1... (an 2011 SLP 585 HP) that's their predecessor. Believe me or not i never did smoke them tires yet ! In Canada, all in all car cost me $ 93,741.81 Canadian dollars (tax inc.). Got the inferno orange trim, the white stripes painted + those on the side too. The sunroof and the SS logo's front and rear. Bought in July 2010, got possession in Oct 2010. Serial number is 006 (production limited to 50, they said! in 2011 in Canada) First five were demo cars. So i got THE FIRST ONE delivered for sale in Canada for model year 2011. (They have the head-up display option like the Corvette) (And, yes, i got the Big Brembo brakes with cross drilled disks on all four corners) Supercharger TVS 2300, modified torsion bars, the nice wheels, etc... And Mr. Umberger signed under the hood. They advertise a quarter mile in 11.5 or 11.6 seconds at best !!! So this ZL1 is twice as fast as mine, i guess ! Mine was modified in Tom's river, NJ by SLP Performance. Got 300 miles on the car (only) as of Jan 2016. Sold the 4 original Camaro SS CHROME wheels for $ 800.00 (what a rip-off, hey !) They don't fit anymore once you have the big 6 pistons Brembo brakes up front. Love my car, as a show piece, that's it ! And drive quick on the highway. 6 speed manual. 6.2 Liter. And yes, i got the "Loud mouth exhaust package" which gives it a more meaner deep engine sound experience. Love the car, but i do agree i overpaid quite a bit for a turnkey production model. Today i guess buying a new Z06 is a better buy but here they could go as high as $130,000-140,000 Canadian with tax.
Larry Larson Built?! Cant go wrong. GG sir beautiful car.
that's just SICK!!!! I thought tha tires would peel right off tha rims lol, great job with this build!!!!
Just never was into the quarter mile, I see the point since every niche thing people do has to have a competition associated with it, but I'd rather have a car that is quick, goes 200 mph, can turn left and right, hug corners and stop on a dime. Now that is a performance car to me. Going 1320 feet then parking it is like grilling the perfect steak, then just throwing it away.
This is an amazing car Larson Racing
The after video comments are awesome. Most people would shit themselves knowing what happens to cars when bought right off the lot to turn into projects. People with big pockets and a diehard passion understand.
He's got a perfect setup!
Great set up, Have Fun
Nasty ride
My point proven over and over....speed cost money, the more you have, the faster you can go
Awesome zl1
I'd be fun to show up at the Chevy dealership with this and have them change the tires or bring it in for a service or something
+David Delgado for all of the people saying why not just buy a v6 if your going to cut it... easy. race package components, high end suspension, stiffer chassis and better powerplant to build off of. not to mention, if he ever decides to sell it, he can put it back stock and get majority of his money back vs selling a v6 camaro. he would have spent more modifying a v6 to accept a v8 vs modifying a car that had a v8 to begin with. same argument alot of people make when talking about trans am and camaro v6 to v8
Retirement dream for me one day
Big Blocks rule !!!
Fantastic car!
This might have been the most consistent car of this years drag week.
I just wanna know what happened to his stock drive train... ZL1 drive train in a "92" iroc?
gotta love American engineering badass
DAMN
Why not!! Lol!! Love this build and I'm not even a Domestic car kinda' guy!
I love when people talk down on a car with a big block.. Ya'll ever think he might have just put it in cause he likes big blocks? I am sure if someone took the time, they could make a twin turbo V6 camaro do 7second runs.. But Big Blocks are in American car enthusiasts blood. They are easier to make big power on, sound amazing and in general a fun type of engine. I myself am planning a 302Cui 1955 GMC Inline 6 build for my 1983 C10, not a V6, but still a 6.
Insane Power! thanks 1320!!!
That’s got some serious wheel hop though
hot damm that thing rips
I must say that is a sweet ride ! This guy has the funds and to buy whatever he wants and I'm sure all most bet the house he has close to around 115k in the car after buying it . When your a multi millionaire it's like buying a Pepsi at a coke machine. And you can't take the money with you in the end . With that said , I absolutely a prove !!!!! balls to the wall!!
If you are going to modify the car to this extent why not just buy the base model?
+Plur307 Because Racecar.
+Plur307
his license plate says it all
+Plur307 My thoughts exactly dude! It's not even close to stock anymore , makes 0 SENSE.
+Plur307 the dude obviously has cash to blow
Mitch Cornutt
A starving kid in Africa could have used that supercharged LS.
Awesome runs...real talk though. Why buy a new ZL1 when he was just gonna swap everything anyway...? Why not an SS and save more dough for all sorts of goodies? Can anyone explain the advantage or is the zl1 chassis from 12-13 better than the 10-13 SS?
Haha i guess so!
From looking under the hood it seems this should be closer to the 6's if not in the high 6's. It's still kinda slow on the launch, I bet with some tire/suspension/rpm tuning they could get that fixed though.
its amazing how a (GTR) 3.8L V6 ends up being faster than a(camro) with 540 ci Big block V8 with ginormous turbos . crazy
+saeed al ameri This is basically the first time they've had more than a couple passes on the car, on Drag Week you usually don't have a lot of time to dial things in while surviving a 1000 mile road trip throughout the week between tracks :)
exactly what I was thinking. You can use the motor that the gtr comes with. Plus this big block takes 10 min to build anti leg
hhhhhhhhhhhhhh you are funny .
There is a reason why there isn't any GTRs in drag week
+jubey97 Are you stupid these GTR's hes speaking of use a billet aluminum block which costs 20k, the same block for a V8 with that much money would net you capable of 3000 HP
Best license plate ever
that thing is menacing
That's one fast camaro!
this is what you can do if you have money. I'd love to do drag week with my chevelle but I need sponsor help for sure. This car is beautiful tho.
Keep it up loving this page
That's bad ass!
BEAST MODEE!!!
I don't care what kind of car it is, that car is a beast
If I was gonna buy a 50k$ ZL1, I would keep everything in it. And get rid of the stock muffler (for sound) replace the air filter. Add a huge super charger. Take out the back seats. Add a spoiler. Add four turbo chargers. Now THAT is a 'Stang hunter. 😎
Every video... How bigs the turbo... What motors in here... How much power you putting out....
+TehDrunkenMonkey Its what you want to know, isn't it? :)
+TehDrunkenMonkey
only a non car guy would be upset about knowing the numbers.
What else are you gonna ask him, when did you decide to buy a camaro? what about what color he wanted it? Jesus Christ this is why we cant have nice things
+1320video he wants to ask how big their cocks .
Ifs a fucking car channel what the hell else are they going to ask
+TehDrunkenMonkey you're so ignorant it hurts
7's in the quarter is crazy
oldschool the best
I wish my grandaddy was this crazy.
wow tha is a real fast machine
That thing is bad ass
BadAZZ car and super cool owner as well!
good choice on the engine
Everyone asks why did he do this or that... His license plate says WHYNOT, maybe that's why lol.
Nasty car
Why buy a ZL1 and the replace every mechanical part on the car? Why not start off with a v6 and then tear that apart? Very interesting!
Guy obviously has way too much money lmao...
exactly what I was thinking.
because ... racecar and Y.O.L.O.
Then maybe I can have all the old parts would love to sick them in my fourth gen camaro
because he has money 2 burn
Why a BBC and not an LS variant? I guess they just wanted a billet block for the strength?
I wonder if it would match a VW's vehicle emission's test? :P what a tough ride, tidy as!
thats my wet dream camaro
Now he can put that ZL1 motor in a fox body. Wait for it...
wasnt this the guy from drag week either way hes a ol savage in this chevy
solid
Why does the footage look different? Is it a new camera? New setting? I like it.
chevy power!!!! them Larson boys are doing it right let me tell you!!
I Wanna see him face them OKC guys from street outlaws. This is an actual street car
To think a 100 years ago cars were not reliable and barley went 15mph , now this just incredible
Not a Chevy type of guy but I can make an exception for this one.
LOVE IT!
great car built by a guy that knows what it means to have a real street rod not a pro mod Lawson Truck was builded for one reason to set the record straight for those other guys
Probably can turn the turbos up a bit, from the some it's producing.
all i have to say is where is your damn DEMON NOW..... CHEVY BABE ALL DAYYYY
Other than the roll cage and 5 point harness the interior looks factory
did i see stock seats in it??
This car is dam well set up i love it 😀. Reliable an fast an the driver is dam cool if love to have a beer with him an talk cars.
God bless America
excellent
bad ass car
One great vid.
WOW
saw a 1320 video sticker on the front of a car on street outlaws
