Frieza saying "that's a new one" is doubly funny to me since earlier he says he keeps a list of heroic speeches, so it is legitimately a new one because Goku's just, well... Goku

Yup was gonna point that out. Only goku would show up to the evil space emperor and say "I'ma deck you in the snozz!" :D
You would think that it was an exaggeration of how many times Vegeta gave a Super Saiyan speech, but no. He kept saying it to Freeza. Vegeta said it a lot in the original series.
I love when goku shows up and just says “hey” to gohan. Cracks me up every time.
Kind of a small callback, but when we first met Frieza back when he, Zarbon, and Dodoria were murdering the villagers, Frieza had been counting the heroic speeches from the Namekian fighters when they stood up to him. But when Goku claims he's goona "Deck 'em in the schnoz." Frieza said that's a new one.

The Trope is called "The Noodle Incident" which comes from the Calvin and Hobbes newspaper comic. a Noodle Incident gets referenced from time to time but is never explained. Bill Waterson admitted that he never really could explain it properly with out being such a let down. nothing would ever compare to the readers' imagination as to what actually happened.

I still can't get over how Frieza just ate Vegeta's Crab Spirit Animal, he was about to tell him how to "Mash up that Bomba Clad Frieza". It's just so random in the original series that he just eats a crab off his should, it's so good

I'm sure you've noticed by now, but I always love how the overall quality has risen in these past few episodes. Music, Sound Effects, Voice Recordings, everything just continually improves and it's around here where it all comes together cleanly.
8:10 is one of my favorite callbacks, mostly for how subtle it is. Frieza comments that Goku's "I'mma deck you in the schnoz" is a new one, which calls back to his "mental list of how many times he's heard certain lines." So subtle, yet so brilliant.
"Vegeta can't be dead or I'm just gonna stop watching the show." I'll admit, this might be my favorite of your reactions thus far. You're the only reactors I've ever seen look outright distraught at Vegeta getting his s*** kicked in, and the looks of concern at the end were fantastic.
With Goku coming in, TFS has stated multiple times that it's the most turnabout moment in their writing, as they were so nervous about swapping him out for Vegeta. They already had such a great relation with Frieza and Vegeta, and they were worried about losing that. Once they realized that Goku's stupidity would just naturally repel Frieza's verbal jabs, they thought "Oh, never mind, this is gonna be great."
Love that fun fact about TFS being worried Goku would ruin the flow 😂 damn, we have to bring the star of the show in how’s that going to work? 😛 They pulled it off great. And of course we were worried about Vegeta, he’s the true hero of the show 😜
Infact: Vegeta really thought here, he was a Super Saiyan.. and it was still not enough for Freeza..that's why he cried. He was completly (mentally) broken. Goku time now !
Damn. Poor Vegeta. Seeing his confidence broken was tough to watch 😢
If Vegeta's got _one_ redeeming quality, it's that _he is the prince of all saiyans._ Which is _so_ much more important to him, considering how few of them are left.

They did a good job translating the friction between Goku and Frieza's personalities into the Abridged.
Frieza thrives on playing with his food and overwhelming people with despair all the while being coy and condescendingly polite.
But Goku , eithout even trying, tells him something he's never heard before and is completely immune to his small talk. Literally every sentence out of Goku's mouth equals a lost braincell for Frieza
Frieza not being able to crack the mystery that is Gokus thought process is so satisfying in this parody 😂😁

My favorite bit in this episode is "Ima deck you in the schnozz". Frieza has heard so many heroic speeches over the years that he's started counting each one, and Goku finally hit him with one he's never heard before

So, fun trivia: the original voice actor for Yamcha no longer had the time to contribute to the project and had to leave, and TFS hadn't been able to cast a new permanent voice yet. That's why here with the "Row your boat" thing and with a few minor things before this (such as when King Kai, Piccolo and the others were talked about bringing people back with the dragon balls), whenever it looked like Yamcha was about to speak he'd be cut off before he said anything.
I'm pretty sure this is the end of that minor running gag, I think in just an episode or two Yamcha has proper lines again for the first time in awhile.

Fun fact: Goku's healing pod was on the other side of the planet compared to where everyone was fighting. So during the split second where Frieza was about to kill Vegeta, Goku crossed half the planet before he could do so. He really isn't dealing with the average saiyan warrior anymore lol.

That doesn't make sense though. Krillen and Gohan summoned the dragon close to Freeza's ship. Where Goku's healing pod is. Everyones fight maybe led them a bit further away, but definitely not across half the planet.

You have to understand that Goku trains his ass off pretty much all the time. He started from a power level of 10 as a kid. Vegeta as a kid was 8000, higher than almost any full gown Saiyan besides Bardock (after his zenkai), and his own father.
Goku really did work his way to his level of power, but they brush over it for the sake of brevity as it’s a parody.

Also Goku abusing the hell out of zenkai power up during his trip to namek. I doubt Vegeta have as much as near death experience compared to goku

@@brandonspencer5594 goku got 2 more zenkais compared to vegeta. 4 times during his training and once before fighting freeza. Meanwhile vegeta only got 3 zenkais.
I'm not saying vegeta would be able to beat final freeza with 2 more zenkais, but at least he could easily beat freeza's first two transformation with that boost.

Years ago, one of the managers at my job at the time had been on medical leave due to a serious viral infection in one of his eyes. His first day back, while he was giving me some instructions, a four-ish year old girl walks up to us, points at his eyepatch (that he would continue to need for the next year or so), and just straight out asks him “Are you a pirate?”
It was just so innocently adorable, and to this day, I don’t know how I managed keep from laughing.

Vegeta's constant reference to Super Saiyans is actually true to the show. Vegeta, many times during the fight against Frieza claimed to either be a Super Saiyan or to be about to turn into one. And it is also true that Frieza shot him in frustration when he started to make the same remark about Goku. Goku's been getting the same zenkai boosts as Vegeta every time he's being beaten up, so he's dozens of times more powerful now than he was when he fought Ginyu.
But Frieza....well....he might seem frustrated now. But Frieza's built different.
Vegeta's tears were real, too. They didn't add those in. He really did start crying and lose the will to fight when he realized just how powerful Frieza actually was and that, after all his planning and all his aspirations to be a Super Saiyan and avenge his race, the truth is that there was never any beating Frieza. It was never going to happen.
In the original, after Vegeta dies, Goku starts to dig a shallow grave for him. Goku's friends couldn't believe their eyes, and asked him why do that for such a horrible guy, and Goku remarkably states that yes Vegeta was bad, but he wasn't in control of his own life, and that Freeza was the one who made him that way, and that Vegeta might have been a descent guy otherwise. In fact, the reason why Vegeta was crying, was because he wasn't able to escape Freezas control in the end. I found that tenderness and understanding toward Vegeta as something remarkable.

haven't checked to see if someone already made this comment, but if i remember correctly the row your boat yamcha bit was a joke because they didn't have a voice actor for yamcha at the time. they decided to switch from the original one at some point and hadn't replaced him yet because he has pretty minimal screentime this arc.
If there's one thing we all know about Vegeta it's that he can take one hell of a beating.
Over this arc you can feel the shift from slapstick non-sequeter comedy to character based comedy. Especially Krillin, Picollo and Vegeta have their Character manifested over their time on Namek and as a result their dialogue works so much better. Same goes for Goku but to a lesser extent as his character was the only one that was more or less established in Season 1. And Season 3 is just full of that kind of Humor.
I subscribed, all of you're videos are funny to watch and I really enjoy them, thanks for giving me a bunch of laughs and the videos are really wholesome, stay safe you two

ive watched these several times, but watching with your reaction is like a refreshing look because now its like im laughing with someone.
The whole joke about Yamcha getting cut off as he's about to speak was due to TFS having issues with the original voice actor they had, and they hadn't found a new one, yet. So they did it as a way to include Yamcha without him needing to speak.
I love the analysis/takeaway about what's special about Goku and the simplicity of him. Can't wait for the next episode!
It's been a couple of episodes now, but the series really hits it's stride from here on out all the way till the end of abridged series - it just keeps going up from here.
Also, i just binged all your episode reactions, and i gotta admit, i really enjoy hearing your thoughts as you never watched the show, yet it's clear you are very much becoming fans of the characters which is really a testament to how awesomely made this abridged series is.

I think there's a more Iconic Line that Vegeta says next season that was made into a shirt by Team Fourstar. It definitely overshadows the Super Saiyan Swagger line as the one he says next season is universal.

Powerlevels are bullshit is genuinly a very common Joke in the Community. So there are a ton of T-Shirta out there for that, not just TFS.
Watching this as a fan vs abridged can be so polarizing lol I remember watching this airing on toonami with my older brothers and i didn't feel bad for Vegeta at all. That's also kinda why they were just watching him get tortured by Frieza. They hated Vegeta too, he was evil lol and obviously they were frightened of frieza. As i got older i began to love vegeta more and more but vegeta deserved all the beatings he got. So it's so funny seeing them feel sorry for vegeta xoxo
TFS did such a great job to make Vegeta a fun character despite being evil. Plus not having to see him being a jerk for as long in abridged series helps as well 🤗😇

Don't feel to bad for Yamcha Ken. Out of all the Z fighters Yamcha actually abuses his superhuman powers to gain fame and fortune in Society. He probably has the most money right after Bulma, while Goku and the rest lives in shacks.

Frieza, and all the bad guys, have some of the best lines. The fact that Goku is unfazed and even throws them off guard is too good. Goku never plays their games, whether or not he knows there is a game to be played.
yea frieza was that savage in the main release... a genuinely menacing terrifying evil villain.
vegeta here is actually very strong just frieza is on another level as u'll see in the upcoming fight with goku. in the mean release this whole section with vegeta and frieza is very sad 😔

Ah, I love that running gag. "You're not *dealing* with the average Saiyan warrior" is great. And, there's still one more out there. It's a long way off, but the payoff is 24 karat, Super Saiyan gold.

i didn’t read through all the comments, so someone may have already said this, but in the original dragon ball when goku was a kid, he was notorious for being rude in that “little kid” way. He would always make rude yet innocent remarks about people to their face. In one episode there is a fortune teller who is trying to trick him and steal his dragonballs and she had a mole on her forehead. As she’s telling goku’s fortune and having him concentrate, he’s staring intently at her. All of a sudden, as the tension peaks, he turns to his friends, points at the fortune teller, and says “Hey look! She’s got a booger on her forehead!” He always did stuff like that and other socially unacceptable things, like getting naked in public. He was raised in the wilderness, most of the time alone raising himself, and never learned manners.
What about the ending? rock you like a hurricane?
It's funny since Frieza makes a whole list of qoutes he heard before and how many times but here comes Goku and just rips that list a new hole

agreed completely they really did a great job with goku in this episode, and vegetas lines are always the best.
fun fact: the reason why yamcha hasn't had any lines is due to the VA, vegeta8986, left the show. there were some rumors that he was fired from TFS for not putting in better work but the main one is that he quit to go teach english in japan. honestly, we might never really know unless the boys speak on it.
We’ve got a better chance of finding out just what exactly is the jock strap incident before we find out what really happened to Vegeta8986, or Hbi2k for that matter.
Didn't it happen right around the same time MasakoX retired from Naruto The Abridged Series? I think I remember people guessing those two things might have been related.

In DB Super, when Vegeta gives his speech to Belmod about Goku's Ultra Instinct, in my head I can't help but hear Vegeta start by saying "You see Belmod, you're not dealing with the average Sayain warrior anymore." And the Freiza groans offscreen and says "Oh my God!!!"

Love the analysis at the end, the diametrically opposite personalities between Frieza and Goku is amazing to dissect.
It's unfortunate, but Vegeta never had a chance here. He's a fighting prodigy, a genius martial artist who is willing to even be mortally injured for a power boost. He has literally every imaginable advantage, and yet there is this unreal power gap between them. To make matters worse, Frieza is in canon only using 3% of his power right now. He is barely even trying. Vegeta did everything right, he put in the work, he put in the effort, and he *still* couldn't match Frieza.
To make matters worse, Frieza does not train. He does not improve. He does not better himself. Imagine going through everything Vegeta has, even in just this season alone, and still being utterly powerless against someone who was just born that strong. Honestly, I can't blame someone with that level of pride and self esteem just breaking at that point. Utterly devastating moment for Vegeta for sure.
An important callback here: When the season started, Vegeta faced off with Cui. Vegeta mentions Cui took his sweet time, causing Cui to retort that he was busy plowing Vegeta's mom. Vegeta replied that she's dead, and Cui said he knew. Cui was *trying* to sound intimidating, but came off as idiotic at best and mildly creepy at worst. Cui was just an annoyance.
In this episode, Frieza comments that he's going to send Vegeta crying home to mom, causing Vegeta to again mention she's dead... And Frieza saying he knows. A dark reflection of the Cui conversation, but with the difference being Frieza sounds utterly sinister at best, and deathly macabre at worst... Doubly so when you consider Frieza was likely the cause of her death to begin with. The sheer scale of difference in those two conversations is breathtaking.
Leaderboard time! Goku has hit the scene, and his base power level has been posted. An enormous jump for sure, considering Goku was holding back earlier *and* he has a Zenkai boost working for him. Keep in mind, this is Goku's *base* power level. He has access to *twenty* levels of Kaioken right now, and as a reminder he could only do up to four back in Season 1.
Went ahead and joined the Patreon, by the by. Been having lots of fun with this reaction series, and looking forward to the finale!
As a quick final aside, I saw the Xenoverse 2 reaction video, and that game is... A hard sell. Xenoverse 2 is great and all, but it is also a game where a large chunk of the cast are alternate universe versions of the characters or are customized with fan mods. To make matters more difficult, 90% of the ultimate moves in the game are just different flavors of Kamehameha or other beams. Most blue, some yellow, some purple, etc. It isn't a bad game by any stretch, it just makes reacting or learning new information on the series kind of rough.

*MY FAVOURITE EPISOOOOOODE* ❤❤❤ 🥺 Just like in the original DBZ, the Freeza (zenkai) saga is the best one, their master piece 👩🦲👌

Freeza's beam at Dende was actually so fast NO ONE perceived its trajectory. His attempt to kill Gohan though had Vegeta on his A-game. Only Vegeta registered where it was going and how fast it was.
This was a full on squash. Vegeta thought he was strong enough to kill Freeza, but he was nothing compared to the man he despises. Freeza barely even tried in this fight. In the anime it's a bit unnserving since Gohan and Krillin want to help, but they know they can't. I don't recall if Piccolo wanted to or not, but him being stoic and all he probably just knew it was hopeless. Freeza was having the time of his life beating down Vegeta, to him this was the last pure blooded saiyan left alive. Then of course Goku shows up.
I remember watching these episodes with a friend of mine and when we saw Vegeta get more or less wrecked, we were silent as hell, especially me since Vegeta and Piccolo are tied as my favorites.

No need to worry, no one from the main cast dies in dragon ball (for long)
